Feeling Puny

Postby Taszi17 » April 3rd, 2006, 8:27 am

hey guys I am feeling pretty puny today. This is day 4 for me. I haven't cheated at all. Drinking all of my water and taking a multivitamen daily.

I got some ketosis strips and it doesn't seem like I am there yet. Not sure why not but I was wondering if you feel bad before you hit ketosis or if it is after you get into ketosis you feel better?

Here are some words of wisdom the fabulous Nancy once wrote about ketosis...

Nancy wrote:It is unlikely the keto strips will register anything for you as you will be in a very mild state of ketosis. If you followed the program, you will be there. Some people do continue to experience some hunger for a few days - especially right at meal time but for most folks, physical hunger disappears and energy levels improve.

So, it is not unusual for our level of ketosis not to show up on the strip and you can expect to feel better once your body adjusts. Sounds like you've done great so far, just hang in there!

Okay thanks. I was wondering about those strips and if maybe it was just going to take my bod longer to get there. Wouldn't suprise me considering it takes it longer to lose weight hehehe.

I am hoping maybe tomorrow I will be more upbeat and feel better.

So weird because the first day I felt like crap but the 2nd and 3rd day were better so I thought that was the end of the weakness

Oh well I am going to see how that scale looks Friday on my one week weigh in and I am sure it will all be worth it:)

Thanks for your words of encouragement I need it hehe

Tas...I think you don't need to take a multivitamin when you are on medifast. If you look up the FAQ section on medifast website, they have it stated there.
5 Medifast meals will give you 100% of your daily vitamins & minerals. They did suggest to take an extra B, Biotin, Zinc for good hair and skin (in case of extreme hair loss/dry skin).

Also, another thing I have noticed with my own schedule is if I consume atleast 850-950 calories per day (L&G + 5 medifast meals), I feel more energetic. It might not be the case with everybody, but it has been my personal experience.

Hi, Taszil.

I felt blechy my 3rd and 4th days, too. Try some broth/boullion or a couple of pickles or maybe some celery with salt on it. The salt ready does help. And, if you need to, just have another supplement (just not a bar). You're making big changes and your body's not going to get with the program without a fight!

If you can today, rest, relax, take a nap if you have the option and just don't do much.

(And, yes, forget the ketosis strips. You don't want to be that deep into ketosis as with, say, the Atkins diet.)

Hang in there, sweetie!! You're almost over the hump!! :buddies:

Tas, like you I felt OK days 1-3 but hit a wall on day 4. I remember feeling like my arms and legs weighed 100 lbs each when I tried to get out of bed that morning. I used bullion to add salt to my diet and began to feel much better. I also used vitamins in the beginning.

These first few days can be rough for some people. Hang in there and be sure to eat all your meals on schedule and you'll be feeling better in no time.

I wouldn't put much faith in the ketosis strips. Inspite of reading on this board they weren't worth getting, I got them, and still use them occasionally. Even when I'm pretty sure I am in Medifast's "mild" state of ketosis, I only register between trace and small - usually just a trace.

The vitamins probably aren't necessary but I don't think they will hurt you, unless for some reason they have carbs in them (Flintstones?).

You might want to take a look at your iron intake. The Medifast meals don't seem to have a lot of iron, and neither do the vitamins I am taking. I wouldn't think lack of iron would effect you after only 3 or 4 days though.

I can't help on when you will start feeling better. I am one of the lucky ones who never suffered at all the first few days. On the other hand, I have never had the surge of energy other people talk about.

I send you my best wishes on your feeling better soon and continued success on Medifast.

Tas ... I felt really bad for about a week to a week and a half. The journey can be so different for everyone so just try to ride it out. I know MF doesn't recommend a multivitamin but my doctor requires it so I do take one in addition to calcium and magnesium supplementation. Check with your local, friendly MD. Hope you're feeling better real soon.

I beg to differ. I am recording everything I eat and drink on www dot fitday dot com and using medifast I am receiving over 100% on all vitamins RDA, sometimes almost 200% (I'm wondering if maybe you can get too MUCH vitamins?). Medifast truly does provide absolutely everything you need, check yourself. :)

I'm right with Diana on this. Go with some bouillon or pickles for a little extra salt, and try having an extra supplement. You should be feeling fine in no time.

Unless of course it's completely unrelated and you're just a little under the weather.

I am feeling puny today also. I thought the worst was over but today was really bad.

I have stuck to the plan exactly, but today when I got home from work I felt dizzy, and really tired. then after I ate my l/g meal, I felt even worse, feel bloated and gassy. uggggggg

think I am going to take some tylenol pm and hit the hay...

hope we both feel better tomorrow.

Thank you all for being here for me. I am a pretty big baby when it comes to not feeling well. I feel much better today and felt even better when I jumped on scale this AM (smack my hand I know it isn't Friday yet) and found I have lost 4.2 pounds in 4 days :)

I was ready to quit yesterday I felt soooo bad but I didn't quit and I didn't cheat and I see it is paying off.

I did add some salt to my shrimp(good god 7oz is a lot of shrimp) maybe that is why I am chirping this morning.

Thanks for holding me up guys at least it isn't 205.2 you have to hold up but only 201.

I can't wait till that scale goes under 200.00 maybe when I weigh in on Friday or the roll call Sunday. Yehhh baby I feel it is going to happen :)

Thanks again guys
