fav L&G Places

Postby glitterynile » August 1st, 2006, 9:00 am

i have to say i've been on the hunt for great places to eat my L&G. I've started trying to eat it for lunch b/c when i cook soups/chili they taste best hot off the stove. 8) instead of nuked in the microwave at work. :puke:

i do cook the oatmeal in a cup a work though for breakfast and love it

well back on point... i found this nice family run place that actually cooks me a great L&G salad per my request. they give me 2 cups mixed greens and some cucumbers and tomotoes on top and 7oz (yes!) thats right of chicken! that not pre-cook weight either!

i also found i can order a great steak from O'Charles - with non buttered broc. - also

so any other suggestions? i like eating out and am making a list of "approved" dine out meals! :yay:

Zuchinis has a few things on the menu that are okay and they have a great salad bar. Jason's Deli also has a great salad bar. I like almost any steak house for l&G, and I like chicken fajita meat on a salad at mexican restaurants.

Whenever I go to On the Border or TGI Friday's I get chicken fajitas with extra peppers and onions, cooked well done (otherwise they are raw and I want more!) I don't bring a scale. But I am pretty good at eye measuring. If I think there is not enough chicken I may go home and haave 1-2 oz of cottage cheese.

The hard part is ignoring all the condiments, rice, chips, guacamole......

Longhorns--Either the grilled shrimp or a small steak with their broccilii. They will cook it all w/o butter for you too.

Also Applebees has a WW meal that is shrimp or steak kabobs with broccilii..just dont eat the rice.

Macaroni Grill - They have an entree called Simply Salmon. Grilled Salmon with grilled asparagus. I go every chance I get when I have to entertain for lunch.

Applebee's is awesome here about subbing extra veggies or a small salad for the starch in their WW meals, which are great. I LOVE the Tilapia w/out the salsa and rice. YUM!!!

Just a fair warning, Applebee's puts quite a lot of butter on their broccoli, which seems to be their standard "seasonal vegetable". You can ask for it to be dry and they will prepare some special for you!

We ate out at our local family owned Mexican restaurant recently and I ordered the chili colorado and asked them to substitue a large side salad for the rice and beans. That worked out perfectly for me. You just have to eyeball how much of teh meat you're going to eat. Don't be afraid to ask them to substitute. Restaurants are very accomodating if you just tell them what you want clearly and ask nicely. I always ask for them to hold the starch item and double the veggie. I have even eatn at a Chinese buffet, I just skipped all the rice and noodles (hard, I know) and had chicken skewers and steamed veggies once and had asparagus chicken the next time.

Yep...ran into that last week. Took a bite and almost spit it out. It was loaded with butter.

I get the pork chops at Outback. If I order double broccoli, I have TWO meals, yay! I'm such a tightwad!

We like Johnny Carinos, Chilis, and Marie Calendars for their chicken salads. Tony Romas for the chicken and shrimp. Our favorite though is Pasta Pomedoro... Caprese and Mista salads and the Verdure with chicken.

Red Lobster floats my boat! Their whole Litehouse Menu is wonderful. Tilapia in a bag - Yum.. Lobster Chops - Double Yum!! Just remember to say "no cheddar biscuits" and non-fat dressing for the salads and you're legal. (I'm getting hungry just thinking about it....)

I rarely eat out, but when I do, it's usually a small Japanese restaurant near my house. I usually get chicken with just mushrooms and zuchinni. When I measured it out, it is almost a perfect L&G. I probably eat there twice a week, and my loss is always consistent on days I go there.

Pretty much any steakhouse or good fish place works for me. I also like Mexican a lot, and try to pick places that have veggie fajitas so I can get half meat and half veggie. That way I get better vegetables than just onions and peppers.

Chinese is also good if it's a decent place. I get steamed chicken and veggies, with a little spicy garlic sauce on the side to dip my fork into.

And back in California, there was a chain of fast-food Japanese places (they were elsewhere, too, but not here - I can't remember the name) that had great skewers of chicken and veggies (zucchini, mushrooms, onions). I'd get that with the sauce on the side and extra veggies instead of rice. SanSai, I believe.
