I know that some people have had them with no visible ill effects but I copied and am going to paste the ingredients in the grilled chicken at Mcdonalds which shows it is seasoned with some sugar and also has listed grilled in liquid margarine so I personally would say no but that is JMHO

Grilled Chicken Breast Filet:
Boneless, skinless chicken breast filets with rib meat, colored with paprika and caramel color added. Contains: Up to 20% of a solution of water, seasoning [salt, sugar, modified corn starch, maltodextrin, spices, dextrose, autolyzed yeast, hydrolyzed (corn gluten, soy, wheat gluten) proteins, garlic powder, paprika, chicken fat, chicken broth, natural flavors (animal and vegetable source), caramel color, polysorbate 80, xanthan gum, onion powder, extractives of paprika], modified food starch, sodium phosphates. Grilled with liquid margarine. Contains wheat and soybean ingredients.

It is only a 20% mixture that has the sugar in it so maybe it is ok I hope that Nancy or Jan or someone with more experience will chime in here. I watched Super Size Me and that is where I heard there was sugar even in the salad

Great detective work Lisa! You rock!!

Fast foods have too many preservatives and who knows what else so I would advise all of us to avoid them for now. JMHO I don't want to take any chances on slowing my weight loss, so it's a NO for me.

Fast Food

Postby Jan » February 17th, 2006, 3:15 pm

Ok all,
We need to repeat to ourselves again and again. "The fast food industry is NOT our friend" :x They know that the typical American likes sugar, salt and fat so that's just what they hide in everything. That's how they trick so many many people into heading right back there. We are getting smarter though and Lisa you are helping us right along on our way. :D
You have dug out the facts and given us a good idea what's hiding in that so called "healthy salad" hmmmmm
Thanks so much

Thanks so much, Falisamarie - you are a great resource for us all.

Like you, Sue, I prefer to avoid the preservatives as much as possible and try to select fresh & organic if possible, then frozen/organic is my next choice.

Vicky, don't bonk yourself :hammerhead: because sometimes we are desperate for a L & G and if we all had an ideal life with 30 hours in our day, worked from home and had Safeway deliver our groceries automatically, then I'd say it's best to avoid it at all costs but it would not appear to be totally toxic - it looks to me as if I'd rather avoid the grilling in margarine part...

I know there are some who have had consistent weight loss and have dined at Wendy's or McD's fairly regularly.

Musical, I doubt that you will have to stay clear of Mickey’s Salads for the rest of your natural life but I'd want to read the label on that salad dressing to be sure it's not too high in cals – the total caloric amount for the salad greens, vegetable topper and the dressing, too should be no more than 80.

I honestly have not been to Wendy's for over 8 years, to the King’s except to use their sandbox and I have not dined at Mickey D's for years either - only had a cup of coffee so I haven't personally scoped out their salads and dressings.

Falisamarie, Super Size Me  scares the boogers outta me!

Oh, yeah, Jan, you :whattha: see me read the food labels every time and most processed grub is laced with sodium (yes, you were a good girl in Mouseland to avoid the  and so did I - but I DID have a frozen bananner :bananadance:) and that wonderfully tasting but hip & figure-hurtin’ evil sugar is :x added to so many things these days - it's even in toothpaste! Lip gloss! Powdered coffee creamer!

It's everywhere!

:coach: Run for your lives! It’s a sugar avalanche! :runner: :puma: :leopard: :dino:
