Fake Lobster & Crab

Postby pinkbugs471 » April 19th, 2007, 10:01 am

I am getting tired of chicken and turkey. I saw the pretend lobster and crab at the fish counter. I assume we can have it. How in the heck do you prepare it? It says it's already cooked. Do you just heat and eat? I am not a huge fish fan, but I need to expand my dinner options.

Most "fake" crab is actually fish (pollack). Its already cooked, so just heat it up (steaming is probably the best way, and enjoy. One issue though.... sometimes there is MSG in it so just be careful if that is an issue for you.

No problems with MSG that I know of. :D

Have you ever tried it? I was just wondering if it really tastes like lobster :?:

Sometimes the fish is sweetened a bit to get the "crab flavor" so be careful. It just may have more carbs than you think, Also almost everytime I try it I get sick :x A horrible head ache and sometimes even a sick tummy Gerrrr!!! I don't know if it's the concentration of MSG or not since most other things that contain some MSG don't bother me ... but that sure does!!

Di gets migraines when she has a certain amount of MSG.... as well and any number of other triggers. We avoid the fake crab (as well as certain brands of canned clams).

Why did you keep on trying it if "almost everytime" it made you sick? :?: ;)
