Extra of what???

Postby MISSANNE » September 6th, 2006, 8:34 pm

I'm not asking anyone to condone eating more than MF guidelines, just curious.

Do any of you get so hungry you have to eat something??? Is it better to have an extra shake, Lean, what?

I'm assuming lean because it doesn't take you out of ketosis???

From what I have read, you are supposed to have an extra shake??? Please don't do like me and steal peanuts from your coworker's desk.

This has happened to me once or twice, so I asked my doc. She is a fan of MF and she said to go with pure protein so I wouldn't break out of ketosis.

When I have to eat extra I usually choose sf jello (it's all protein), lf cheese (it has slight carbs), or extra meat. Second to those options I may have some cucumber or tomato. Third to that is a sf popsicle, crisps, or crackers.

I never have an extra supplement. Always something more solid.

I eat cheese sticks, the low fat mozz cheese sticks. They have 1 carb and 50 calories. I try not to do it often because of the sodium. I have read on here tho that you are supposed to have an extra shake.

Cottage cheese, a hard boiled egg, or an extra supplement. Much better to have an extra supplement or lean than to fall prey to an open bag of M&Ms... ;)
Some of us, me included, lose better when consuming slightly more calories. No shame in that, all bodies are different!

I will sometimes do a slice or two of turkey lunchmeat, the razor thin kind, or sf bread and butter pickles. Or you could have and extra MF soup or shake. I also sometimes split my L&G and have half at lunch if I'm famished and then have the rest at dinner.

I just eat a pickle...immediately followed by some mouthwash. I don't want to eat again for hours after that.

After that, I'd probably never eat again!! Hey, maybe we've discovered a new diet...

MissAnne, fear not the shake!!

My whole first month, I had 6 shakes a day (inadvertently -- wasn't journalling) and I STILL lost over 20 lbs. In the beginning, my HA advised me that, if I'm feeling puny and nothing else is working, to have an extra shake. (I just didn't realize I was doing it habitually! Then again, I was over 300 lbs at the time, too.) In fact, in the HA stuff for helping folks set up an individualized program, for those who are ...oh, what's the word they use... critically (?) obese, the recommendation is 6 MF meal replacements a day.

I also have a client who SWEARS by the appetite suppressant shakes. Says she couldn't do this program without them.

Ark, though, is a nurse, has been working this program compliantly for about half a year, and is definitely in the know -- basically, whether it's shake or some of the other suggestions, go for protein.

Also remember to get all your water in. Ok, I admit I didn't read carefully so this may be a mute point. Nonetheless.... The body can mask thirst as hunger. Moral to the story: make sure you're getting all your water in (and perhaps a glass or two extra).
Here's to our mutual success! :buddies: --Diana
