Expensive

I can't believe how expensive the medifast shakes are. Especially having to drink 5 a day. How do you all afford it?

if you add up what you spent on an average day before mf and compare it to what you will spend staying completely on plan, i think you will find only a couple of dollars difference. if you ate out a lot, or indulged in alcohol, you will probably find yourself saving money.

I just spent $4,000 fixing two teeth that got ruined because I lived on cheap candy and soda for years. Medifast is cheap compared to what you spend to fix your health. Just my opinion. Plus I used to spend more than $300 month on groceries, because I bought everything fresh and everything organic. It's a balance...you will find a way to afford it each month.

There are also ways to save. Take Shape for Life has monthly specials, which are announced on this site. There are also discounts if you buy a full case of something. And the Be Slim club will get you a discount each month, too (and the discount increases the longer you do it). Those discounts can all be lumped together, too (get a full case of something on sale that month, and order through the Be Slim club).

You can also save on lean and greens by buying things like chicken breast in bulk. Plus I found I saved a lot by buying only what I needed. Because I knew exactly how much of everything I could eat, I didn't buy a lot of extra produce or meat or anything and have to toss it.

Plus, like everyone said, you'd be surprised how much you save by not eating out as much or buying snacks at work or school, etc. (But be prepared. The one extra cost I DID have is all the new clothes I had to buy as I kept shrinking!)

Medifast comes out to around $10/day. If I go out to eat lunch, it easily runs $10-15, plus I stopped getting snacks from the vending machine, and getting stuff to make cookies and cakes. My husband still eats 'normal' food, so I think our grocery bill is higher than it used to be, but not by a whole lot. The results are sooooo worth it, though.

Seconding what Robin said. I've spent as much on new clothes as I have on food, and that's even buying stuff on sale, at Target and at the Good Will.

It expensive when you have to shell out the money all at once for your products. But like the others said, if you save up all of your receipts for every burger, trip to 7-11 for a slurpee or snack, restaraunts, popcorn and soda and candy at the movies.... and add it all up for one month...I'm sure you will either equal or surpass the amount for the MF products.

Also, the price , to me, puts value on the MF plan. It will make you think twice about taking this lightly... This is serious weightloss that works if you do it right!! And you will lose weight.. quickly!

I'm spending far less on medifast than I did before. I would eat out lunch every day and often times dinner as well. Plus, medifast works, I'd still do it even if it was twice as expensive.

ME TOO! It's become an addiction! I love buying several sizes down from the current, trying them on from time to time to see how much closer I've gotten. It's EXCITING!

Totally! That's one of the reasons that after my sister took all of my fat clothes last weekend my closet was not completely bare. I've bought a couple things here, a couple things there...plus any skinny clothes that I had from before. It's great fun shopping in your own closet, eh?

Mike and I are both on the 5&1 plan. Granted, we have no other mouths to feed at home (other than the petting zoo). But we're spending a LOT less on food than we did previously. Our Medigrub comes to about $600/mo. We'd spend that at Costco every other month, plus multiple trips to the grocery store, plus eating out 3 or 4 times a week (about $40/meal), plus snacks at work, plus Starbucks or some other drive through coffee thing (that alone was running about $7/day).

We are, as you can tell, SAVING money by eating this way. Like Dogma, we buy only what we need now, so there's less waste. AND by this time last year, I'd already used a ton of sick days. This school year's total so far: 1.

Not to be preachy, but you can tell what people value by how they spend their time and their money. I can't think of a better use of resources than getting healthy -- for keeps!
Here's to our mutual success! :buddies: --Diana
