Exercise question???

Postby joylk » March 10th, 2005, 3:26 pm

In a message i read it talks about not exercising for a period of time when you start the program. I will be starting the program on Saturday and I would like to lose 50lbs. I currently swim 3-4 days a week. I swim 36 laps or 1/2 hour. I also have been doing weight resistance machines on the other days. Should I not do this much or??? Any feedback to prepare me for my BIG DAY this Saturday...I am so excited to start!

The basic advice is if you are not exercising at all, you shouldn't do anything your first 3-4 weeks on the program. If you are currently exercising as you are, you should cut your exercise back by 1/2 for those first weeks as your body adjusts to MF. At that point, you can gradually add more back.

Hope this helps and good luck!

Howdy doody, Joylk ~

Welcome to the world of shaking, stirring and thinning!

Take Shape For Life recommends that if you are currently exercising that you cut your exercise routine in half for the first three-four weeks then gradually increase your activity intensity as time goes by. Swimming is an excellent choice as it is joint-friendly.

The TSFL 5 and 1 Program featuring Medifast products is a low calorie meal plan and it is not recommended that one exercise intensively during the weight loss phase. As one goes through transition and maintenance, it is necessary to exercise most days as part of one’s healthy lifestyle.
