Hi everyone

Postby missykalo » March 14th, 2007, 11:35 am

I just sent for the 5 week variety pack and I'm really nervous about this. I have tried so many times to get rid of this extra weight and currently weigh more then ever! Any tips for me getting through the first few really tough days? Are the appetite suppression shakes something I should think of starting with?

Hi Missy. I haven't tried the appetite suppression shakes but I know some people really think they help a lot. The first three or four days are probably going to be hard - drink a lot of water, that helps with hunger. And maybe use the time before your order comes to brainstorm a list of things you can do instead of eating to distract yourself between meals. After a few days it gets easier, and with every day you're on program it gets easier, too. Good luck, let us know when you officially begin!

I use them sometimes, they do help. They are a bit thicker than regular shakes, and the Citrimax helps with that hunger feeling.

If I were doing this all over again, I think I'd follow a low-carb diet (like the Atkins induction phase) for a few days beforehand. That way (at least in theory), by the time you start Medifast, you'll be in ketosis and you won't be hungry.

I think the most important thing is to make sure there is nothing in the refrigerator that you can eat that is not on program. You will do fine.
Also When you get hungry drink a glass of water then pop a piece of gum in your mouth. Hope this helps.

The first three days might be tough - but just remember that after that, things pretty much just fall into place. I just kept myself busy. I remember spending a lot of time on these message boards and I had yet to even become a member - so you are one up on me. Look here for additional support - everybody here is great. They are also willing and ready to assist you. Welcome!! :D

I didn't have any problem with the first three days, but I think I was so ecstatic with the scale, I just sailed through on cloud 9. Yeah, I KNOW it was water but the loss was still THERE on the scale! I think Dogma has an excellent idea for easing in. Also each of us is different. I never ate a lot of carbs and very little sugar which no doubt made it easier. That is why I think Dogma gave you excellent advise. You will be surprised at how easy it can get if you put your heart in it. ;)

First three days

Postby JonnaD » March 14th, 2007, 10:34 pm

Welcome, Missy.

I'm new, too, on my second week (already? wow) I didn't use the suppresants and didn't have any hunger problems. On the third day I was a little wobbly feeling, but that passed quickly.

I hope MF works well for you.

I also agree that I was not hungry and except for headaches the program was not a problem to stick with. Don't plant problems in your head, just keep telling yourself how worth it it is going to be when the weight comes off and your health improves. Good thoughts and all these people willing to help will get you through the good and tough times.

I'm happy to report that the 1st three days were a breeze for me, it was the end of the 1st week where I had some major cravings. I think part of the reason was ebcause I was at work and I don't have time to be hungry - I sometimes have to stop and remeber to have a MF.

I also agree with going through the frig and cupboards to get rid of temptations. I threw out stuff and sent bags of tempting snacks home with the boyfriend.

Welcome! :exercise:
