3 entire, full days and still no keytones??

Postby Tiffany38 » April 6th, 2007, 7:37 am

Gosh -- in the past when I've done low carb'ing, I'm ususally changing the stick to show keytones by day 2. Now I've done a full 3 days of full fasting (today is day 4) and the stick has still not changed! I know plan works as I've already lost about 6 pounds and Monday is my official weigh in day. (whoo hoo -- so excited!) :-P
I'm just kind of surprised the sticks haven't changed color yet!

Do you think that "time of the month" affects that?? I know the sticks are a great confirmation that things are working!

I don't think Medifast is like Atkins- we take in more carbs. So your level of ketosis will be mild in comparison. Which may not show up on your tests.

Why not just go by your pounds lost?

Also, if you are drinking all your water your urine will be quite diluted which will affect the ketone concentration. This diet is based on a low rate of ketosis anyway.

Hi Tiffany! I believe we sometimes overthink the program. Just follow the guidelines, get your water drank each day, do all of your supplements each day and don't worry about peeing on the stick so you can see a certain color. :D The weight will come off if you follow the program and peeing on a stick isn't going to make it come off any faster (if it does--I want to know, cause I'll go buy a case load of those ketone sticks!!!!).

Keep shaking (and drinking your water) you'll see that scale number change and the clothes fitting looser!

Hi Tiffany,
Don't worry, It is not uncommon at all for the ketosis sticks to not register. Most times they don't. That's because your body is in a very mild form of ketosis ( that's the safest for you) But you will part with the pounds as long as you stay compliant on program. :D

Yeah - you all are right! I am just used to having them instantly appear purple doing low carb diets. I am trying to get in all the water and most of the time my urine is clear so not much concentration of anything.

I just figured the sticks would be showing a fairly moderate change but it sounds like none of you all are even doing the sticks anyway so I will have to just stop checking them!

Scale was down another pound this a.m. so that will be 8 so far on week 1! Very exciting!

Have a good Easter weekend everyone! Here in N. Texas they are saying it might SNOW! Oh my gosh -- it was in the 90's last week now 40's for our high! Burr.
