Encouraging the "Hungries" with Mistakes

Postby StrivingSister » February 25th, 2006, 4:44 am

Hey Everyone!

I am starting my Day 8! Yay! I still have some mild true hunger, but I've been sticking to it! I think that what messed me up was that I had about 4 random meals in the last three days in which I waited way too long to eat them (between 3 1/2 - 4 hours). I've got to do better with meal timeliness because the "hungries" are a bummer!

I THINK that I've Lost about 6.5 pounds, but I don't find my scales (I have two) to be so reliable, unfortunately. There is too much fluctuation from minute to minute - that's why I just take an average of the two of them.

Still going throught my monthly cycle...I can't wait until it's over so that I can really see my progress!

I think your hunch about waiting too long bringing on the hungries is right on. Happens to me occasionally too. I work from home and on really busy days I actually set a timer to remind me to eat because I don't normally feel hungry when it's time!

Ps. I usually show the big loss about four days after TOM.

I have to remind myself to eat too. And on my busy days, I really have to plan my meals. I can't start at the same time every day because I may not get home until after 8:00.

For me I have found that when I eat oatmeal in the morning, I think I am hungrier by lunch time.

The times I've gone four hours between meals (haven't been too many of those) seem to throw me off for the rest of the day, so that even when I get my next meals in, I'm still hungry. In fact, I've become so convinced of the need to go no longer than three hours, that I ALWAYS keep a bar or an RTD shake in my purse when I head out to run errands (it amazes me how a set of errands that are supposed to take about an hour and a half can suddenly explode into a 3+ hour adventure), just in case.

You might want to think about investing in a new scale. Probably not everyone has this same issue, but (for me, at least) inconsistent numbers on a scale can begin to chip away at my confidence in a program, or even lead me to doubt my own weightloss. We had one of those vary-moment-to-moment scales; I bought a new one the day I started Medifast, and it's been very nice to know the number I see on the scale is the number I'll STILL see on the scale if I step on it two minutes later. (Plus, it's a really pretty one. )

Happy shaking!

StrivingSister ~

I agree with you here. Hunger usually means we are waiting too long before we eat or else we may eating things that are not on the program. It can take three full weeks for our body to adjust to the fat-burning state and when our blood sugar level drops, we need to grab grub and we need it now!

We can feel fatigued the next day, too if we go too long without eating.

Let us know how it goes for you when you stick to your three hour intervals.

I know I needed to train myself to eat on time - I get too involved in things and my old habit is to go for hours and hours without eating and then eat my weight in crackers with butter so I still must consciously be aware of my meal times. Even if we are not hungry, we should eat by the clock and not rely on our stomach to tell us when to eat. Sheesh! that's what got me into morbid obesity before - my stomach musta lied to me!

I try to eat/drink something (other than my constant friend WATER) every 2 hours. I have my reminder set on my outlook calendar at work to pop up every couple of hours. It says "Eat! :)"

That's the way to ensure your success. :whoohoo:
- those outlook reminders are wonderful IF your computer doesn't crash...

I am going :nana: coo-coo loo-coo here with both of my computers on the
fritz...Unca is madly working on setting up the new one right now. Love that man!

My iPaq ( It's a handheld data device) crashed and the data on the storage card cannot be transferred into my new device without some intervention of a technical nature that is far beyond all the 'experts' we've contacted so far...argh! I had it set up with a little cricket chirp to remind me to slurp and have my Medimeals and to call or remind my customers to change their auto ship orders, etc. I am lost without my crickets!

Have a thinny day, Cynben!
