Eating what you shouldn't by accident...

Postby FluffyNoMore » March 16th, 2006, 11:00 am

Has anyone done this?

I'm making my 4 yr old a sandwich that include marshmallow. I get some on my finger and without thinking lick my finger and then I freeze...holy cow!! and then start wiping my tongue in a panic and spitting in the sink. I thought I was the only one and then I saw my dh wiping his tongue on Tuesday and I asked, "what are you doing?" and he said, "Peanut butter!!"

That is hilarious!!! The reason why it is so funny is because I bet there isn't one parent on this forum that hasn't experienced that "accidental" eating!!!! You made me laugh out loud!

It is amazing how automatically our hand goes to the mouth, and yes I have been guilty of it when i made dh a baked potatoe and took the fork I poked it with to see if it was done and stuck it right in my mouth! I honestly spit little pieces of potatoe all over the kitchen and my family found it just hilarious!

Thanks for sharing stories like that are always good for a laugh

I did the same thing with communion on Sunday, but I wasn't about to spit it out at my pastor. ;)

I've come VERY, VERY close with my daughter's PB several times, but so far no accidental licks!

I did the same thing on my first trip "out" to a restaurant! I was at the table with "the boys" and absentmindedly buttered a piece of bread while I was telling a funny story.

I looked up and ALL of them were looking at me like I was about to take a bite of a...(something really gross). I let out a yellp, threw the bread on the plate and pushed the plate away.

Luckily one of the boys snapped up the bread and they got the rest of it off the table. Good to know they've got my back! I almost stuck my finger in my mouth once I realized I had butter on it, but that went on the napkin. It's just alarming how many things I do without thinking!

Thanks for the great moment!

OMG! I am constantly having to stop myself from putting my fingers in my mouth when I'm making my girls' their meals. And testing the temperature of their food by having a bite. I can't tell you how many times I've spit stuff out, wiped my tongue and rinsed my mouth! You'd think I had OCD!
