Don't Get Me Wrong...An Expensive NSV

Postby mellowmom » September 2nd, 2006, 3:33 pm

I love Medifast and losing all this weight, but MAN!!! It's getting pretty expensive...not the food, the clothing!! Not only do I have to continually buy smaller sizes, but I've suddenly developed the female "shopping gene". Something which I've always prided myself in missing. My method of shopping has always been a very practical matter. I'd usually go in, find what I was looking for...(no time for browsing), buy it and walk out the door. Would take 10- 15 minutes tops, because I wouldn't bother trying the stuff on, just go with the 3x or 4x or 5 x, (whatever the size du jour was).

That all changed today.. I shopped for over 5 hours! (Had an RTD halfway through. ) Can't remember when/if I ever did that before. Why there's a whole world of styles and colors once you get out of the "big, big girl" department. Plus I actually had the stamina to go out and shop and try on clothing for that long. Usually, trying on one pair of pants, would exhaust me. Add a couple of shirts and I'd need a medic and/or put me out of commission for the rest of the day.

So I wound up buying several new tops that are a little clingy, but should fit by the end of the month, AND...ready for it....some warm-ups in Size 14-16 pants!!! When I started Medifast 5 months ago I was in 28-30!

Medifast Rocks...and so do all of you on this board for allowing me to share and putting up with my ramblings. Have a Great Labor Day.

I know what you mean. I have never been a shopper but I'm finding myself walking through the mall and perusing catalogs very frequently. I think I found my female shopping gene, as well.

Today, I went shopping, also! It seems I cannot just go into a store and look, I must buy a smaller size of something before I leave!! Yep, it is expensive, but hopefully, for not too much longer, when we all settle on a PERMANENT SIZE!!!! Happy for you, Carmel, sounds like you had a great day!!! :D

Carmel, are you sure you wrote that post instead of me? You sound exactly like me! :) I used to hate shopping for clothes, especially pants because it was so hard to find some that didn't make me look awful, and I'd pick the pair that hid my tummy the best. Now I try them on and my criteria is 'which pair makes my butt look great?' What a great change. :)

I've limited my purchases so that I don't buy anything that costs more than $20, and Good Will is a great money saver. But I've still plunked down lots and lots of cash for new clothes. I don't mind too much though.

I'm in this group, too. I LOVE shopping these days, except for the money it's costing me! Thankfully I'm pretty much in my final size, although I may drop one more eventually. But it's SO addictive.

After yesterday's shopping trip (two skirts, one pair of jeans, and I think four tops), I had to go back to exchange one skirt (zipper problem, not the size). I had to MAKE myself just get the skirt and go, instead of looking at all the fall stuff that suddenly appeared. Sigh.

The only bad part these days is I STILL have trouble finding my size. Used to be too big, now I seem to be too small!

Congrats on the NSV, mom, but let me warn ya.......try not to go overboard because this new stuff won't fit for long. I'm swimming in all of my summer stuff. On vacation I had to force myself not to shop the summer sales because I know that the size 10's and 12's that fit right now, won't fit me next summer. I have exactly one pair of jeans and one sweater for fall. That's it! I'm on my way this week for some serious fall shopping. What a burden........NOT!!!!!

Hi,
I can't WAIT \for that! I've prided myself on dropping sizes without dropping a bunch of dinero, by shopping at Savers and Goodwill and stuff. I've made a couple of trips to target, but I'm determined not to spend a bunch of money until I figure out what size I land on! Woo hoo for you! Who would've thought we'd have THESE PROBLEMS six months or so ago, eh?

Hi I'm Tammy, and I am addicted to Ross and Marshall's. (Hi Tammy!) I know I shouldn't but more clothes because I'm only halfway to goal, but I don't have any dress slacks to wear to work. When I was smaller, I wore jeans to work, but since then my job changed (probably part of the reason I gained weight) and when I dug out the old pants to try on, there were no slacks. I'm glad to see all my MF buddies are getting in touch with their inner shopper and hitting the malls.

WTG! I think that's the best "side effect" of Medifast I've ever heard about ;)

One of my ultimate goals (which I'm hoping to reach this time next year) is to go to the South of France and buy a very expensive, very worth it, designer dress - anyone wanna help me raid the Jean Paul Gaultier shop?
