I know. You'd think they'd at least eat some of the fruit, but nope.

It was a very cool gift, though. I've been wanting to send someone one of these things forever because they look so original (weird when it's a big franchise, but I first saw it when they only had a handful of stores).

And why is it we want to dump him? I say, give the poor guy a chance, Robin. You ohly just met him.

It's been about two months!!!! The problem is he's incredibly dull and just not fun to be around. He's very nice, but it's hard to spend time with him.

And I realize I'm at one end of the spectrum in terms of pop-culture knowledge and interest. But he's waaaaaaay at the other end. Last night I mentioned "Desperate Housewives," and he had never heard of it. Today he asked around at work to see if anyone else knew what it was. And of course, everyone did. Sheesh.

I'm trying to find someone to let the dogs out for me Friday night. We're supposed to go to a blues bar with some of his friends who want to take him out for his birthday. Then he said last night that a friend and his wife (I met him once, but not her) want to know if we can meet them for dinner beforehand. Which I'd LOVE to do, if only to see if he can get involved in the conversation and not just talk about work, but I can't unless I can get someone for the dogs. I can't leave them for so many hours without a potty break, obviously. Although now he says we're meeting somewhere near my house, so I can probably run home to let them out for a bit. I'd rather have someone come who can stay for a little while, though, and give them some attention. My regular pet sitter will be out of town.

Too many things can come IN a doggy door, and Teemu would be terrified of it anyway. Plus I really just don't like for them to be alone so long. I didn't get dogs so I could ignore them!

Maybe you're not spending the right kind of time with him and he's a tiger in disquise!

We're definitely not spending THAT kind of time together. He hasn't even held my hand, which is kind of odd, but I'm OK with that at this point.

So after eating fruit all day yesterday and not much else, I had way too much for dinner and so I weighed the same today. And tonight he's coming over to get a lesson on caring for my dogs because tomorrow he's going to come and feed them and let them out and everything for me since my pet sitter's out of town and I couldn't find anyone else. He takes every other Friday off. That way I can go to dinner AND the blues thing. But I'm guessing that means we're having dinner tonight. I can't just show him all the dog stuff and toss him out (although I WILL be tossing him out nice and early so I can get to sleep at a decent time and try to run in the morning; no run today because I had to bring my car in at 7 a.m.).

I hope it's not a mistake, but I think it'll be OK. And if we break up, I'll be sure to change the locks.

Maybe he's waiting for you to make the first move. Sorry if I am being presumptious. For all I know, you could have no physical attraction to him.

I don't have much, actually. I was hoping he'd get more attractive as I grew to like him, but he's still so dull I'm having a hard time. I also have issues with that, so if he's waiting for me, he's going to be waiting a loooooong time.

Maybe he's willing. To use that trite phrase, it sounds like he is "really into you!"

Robin,

When I first met my husband. I really did not like him. He was very shy. I told myself let me give this guy at least a month. Then I will determine if he is the right one. John my husband was so shy he could not even look at me in the eyes for the first couple of dates. No kiss no holding hands nothing. Finally I said screw this. At the end of the date he said good night. He was going to leave with out another kiss. At first I said you know what I am going to dump this guy. I said to the hell with this. I grabbed his cheeks and gave him the biggest kiss
Well let me tell you there was an automatic change in his personality. And I literally got butterflies in my stomach. IT was the best decision I could of ever made in my life.

What do you have to lose.

Interesting. But what made you give him a big kiss if you didn't like him and were ready to dump him? Just curious.

I was just catching up today, Robin. What a month! Not that you asked, but I agree - try a first kiss. You can tell a lot from a kiss sometimes. He seems to have so many good qualities, and maybe he is just playing it safe and giving you space. I know I am a totally different person once I get to know someone. Maybe that will break the ice in some way in the area of him letting his personality come through. Or make your decision easier if there are no sparks at all.

Tough call, though. You don't want to stay with a man thinking you can change him fundamentally. But maybe it will be worth it, if you take the risk, to try to draw him out.
