128.4 this morning, even though I ate out the last two days. So yay for that. I'm eating lunch out today, but hopefully I'll be down more in a couple of days.

Interesting about the arch issue - I always assume I need lots of arch support but my feet are still killing me in my new sneakers. If I ever get serious about exercise then maybe I should go consult with someone.

Congratulations on the weight while eating out - have a good lunch and I hope you lose some more this week. :D

Sigh. 129.8 yesterday, 129.4 today. But I ate out again Sunday (I was so good, though! We went to my favorite burger place, but I had a portobello sandwich and a salad.) and then had leftovers last night, so probably lots more sodium.

I also got almost no sleep Monday night and took yesterday off from the treadmill (although I got in a 20-minute walk at lunchtime). Was up most of last night, too, because of storms, but I ran this morning anyway. Yay.

The newer ones (the black ones; the old ones were gray) are VERY easy to hide under a sleeve. Mine shows a lot, but that's because I wear either very short sleeves or no sleeves a lot. But under a normal shirt, no one would notice it. It's basically a black elastic strap (like the chest strap from a heart rate monitor) with a little black square on it (maybe an inch square and maybe a centimeter thick; I tried to measure it without taking it off, so those aren't exact).

It's pretty cool, although I'm still not sure how much it's helping. My weight fluctuates so much that I can't tell - although I'm eating a TON on running days and not gaining, so that's something. And my Tanita says my body fat is dropping, so that's also good if it's accurate.

I ate out a lot over the weekend - and I ate carefully, but I'm sure I still had tons of extra sodium. So I'm hoping that by Friday, my official BB weigh-in day, I'll see more progress. Right now I'm all over the place.

The one thing it IS doing is making me work out more and harder. I've missed one day in three weeks, and when I have time, I stay on the treadmill until I see that I've burned enough calories.

Hi Robin,

The bodybug sounds pretty cool. I haven't worn anything since I stopped working out many moons ago, but I did try wearing my heart rate monitor during my piano practicing once, just out of curiosity. It didn't seem to do much ! From what I understand, the bodybug is different.

Good to see you here, with your usual steadiness about eating right, making good food decisions and working out :). Hope all is well :). Cheers !

It is amazing how much sodium is in restaurant food - that's probably how they make it taste so good. Either salt or sugar depending on the dish. I hope you're happy with your number on Friday - but it sounds like it's working in terms of getting you even more active than you were and lowering your body fat percentage. I am reminded of the advice you got a while back from someone or other (a doctor I think?) - that maybe you are just at the weight you're going to be at. But lower body fat, more muscle, and a leaner body are all going to make you look and feel better no matter what the scale says, right? Hope you can get more sleep too!

That was one of the dietitians here at work, but she's the one who tested my resting metabolic rate and estimated my daily calorie burn from that. According to the BodyBugg, she was WAY off.

And yep, the thing they wear on The Biggest Loser. It measures your calorie burn based on a bunch of different criteria, and is supposed to be over 90 percent accurate (except in a few cases of people with thyroid problems). I also wear a heart rate monitor, but only when I'm working out. And mostly just because my HR gets so darn high, I like to keep track.

Karli, I think the working out is really the key for me. As long as I stick with the workouts, I seem to do better on food and everything else. These days, whether it's because of the BB or the higher calorie intake or the energy chews I'm now addicted to, I seem to be doing really well with my workouts, which makes me want to do better with food, too.

Symbiosis. I love it. Physical activity seems to be linked to a desire to put the right fuel in the body for me, too.

And I can't blame you for not following the advice of a dietician who was way off. :oops: :mrgreen:

And thanks for the info on the BodyBugg/thyroid thing. With my luck I would be one of the people it didn't work for - so I'll save my money for the diamond bracelet....

That was my concern, too, but they swear it's only for people with thyroid issues and mine's been tested and is fine. Of course, that doesn't really answer why I can't lose weight like normal people. The "coach" was not helpful at all. She was certain I was just logging my food wrong or flat-out lying about what I eat.

Yup. And a big, fat cheater. Sigh. First, she said people get derailed on the weekends because of eating out. I said I intentionally avoided eating out the first two weeks; I ate out one time and WAY overestimated the fat in my grilled chicken breast and veggies, just in case. So then it was that I underestimate how much I'm eating; I said I weigh and measure everything. Then it was that people forget to record things they've eaten; I said I actually fill the thing out in the morning and then eat whatever I said I was going to. Then she said that the body doesn't reset itself every day or even every week, so it could take longer for a change to show up (so the week when I had the huge deficits just hadn't shown up yet). I said but that week I ate what I had been eating for the past few months, and I hadn't lost anything THEN, either. Then she told me that the whole starvation mode thing only applies to people like Olympic athletes, "And you're not an Olympian, are you?" That was when I gave up and thanked her for her time and told her I'd figure it out on my own.

But so far I do still like the BodyBugg, even if it's just because it feeds my obsessiveness.

Hey Robin, it's strange to "know" your habits b/c you post here about it, and to have known those for actually years now, and then to hear about somebody who really doesn't know you at all thinking you are lying or somehow doing something you are not (or not doing something you are) ! That's just an odd thing to read about ! Even if she's no help, I bet you'll get that thing workin' for you :).
