I wish I could have seen the on-the-treadmill-off-the-treadmill bit. Sounds like a Stooges routine. I'm sorry it ruined your workout that day, though, and aggravated your shoulder. Glad you've got a handle on how to fix it. I'm starting to think about asking my Mom to come over for an hour every day so I can work out. It's just ridiculous trying to fit it in and keep the house clean and get the kids fed.... I wonder if she'd do it, even two or three days a week.... What a luxury it seems to get out of bed and workout right away!

It can't hurt. And it sure doesn't FEEL like a luxury, when I'm scrambling out of bed at 5 a.m. every day and trying to get everything done and taken care of before I run out for work.

Reading about your on-off routine cracked me up!

The universal recorder sounds so cool! I've always wished I could watch anything in any room. DH works for Time Warner - I'll have to ask him if they've got that in the works!

I hope that shoulder starts getting back to normal soon. It seems like healing takes soooo long.

Yeah, I had my TiVos networked before, so I was able to send stuff from room to room. So I really missed that feature when I got U-Verse. I'm much happier now (and I totally solved the one TV issue yesterday, too; now I just need to get the volume up higher, and I'll be one happy camper).

And the stupid shoulder's getting worse instead of better, with the new exercises I have to do for PT. I've barely done anything all weekend because it's been hurting so much. And I'm not talking exercise - I'm talking ANYthing.

Robin, I'm so sorry to hear about your shoulder! :(
Do you think they'll need to do surgery? It's really cramping your usual lifestyle!

No surgery to be had for bursitis. Unless, of course, all this PT ends up tearing the rotator cuff, which is distinctly possible. I've got the pain somewhat under control with a whole bunch of Advil again. I also decided to do the stretches every day, but to do the strength exercises only every other day, just like I would normally do with strength training.

And I fixed my TV situation!! Not just the RF interference, but also the volume. All by myself, too (I ran everything through an RF modulator I had sitting around, and that fixed the whole thing). So yay!!! I was even able to walk the whole 60 minutes today, including a couple of hills. No running, since I've been so inconsistent lately that I didn't want to overdo. I may try tomorrow, though, since I have a little extra time in the morning (because it's Rosh Hashana, and the synagogue is closer to the house than my job is).

YAY!! I not only did my hour this morning, but I took a 45-minute walk with a co-worker this afternoon. Very brisk, plus a bunch of hills and six flights of stairs. I think I'm finally back!

Oh, and one bad thing. My extremely expensive Seven jeans that I got in Austin a few months ago? The ones that fit like a glove? I can still wear 'em, but they're pretty loose now. And I think they'll be ridiculously big by the time I'm ready for maintenance again. Sigh. (I realize there are worse problems to have, considering it means I'm losing a bunch of inches even though the scale's been a little slow to move. But still, it kills me after spending more on those jeans than I think I've ever spent on a single item of clothing.)

I'd never get my money back, plus it's way too much trouble for me. I'm going to wear 'em as long as I can. Heck, as slowly as I lose, that should be awhile. They'll just have to be my comfy jeans instead of my skinny jeans.

I'm resisting the temptation to say sarcastically "poor Robin," because I know how hard you've worked to be able to say your skinny jeans are now your comfy jeans. But man, it's hard! Green-eyed monster rearing its head over here.

I know, there are a lot WORSE problems to have. But yeah, this is after what? Four years of being very strict about what I eat, more than two years of working out HARD almost every day, etc. I'm happy for the results I've gotten, but I've had to work really hard to get them. My body just won't give me the leeway that a lot of other people have.

I know from your journal how hard you've worked, that's why I say what I say tongue-in-cheek. Just another bit of inspiration for me, that maybe someday I can say the same thing! Right now I'd be happy to be able to say that my fat jeans actually zip without pliers again.

I know. Although I know Nancy (and I guess Tim, too) has been going through some stuff with her parents. And Mike mentioned having some issues, too. Still, it's kinda weird. None of them, no Jan in ages, etc. All the old-timers and health advisers or coaches or whatever they call them now seem to be gone. 'Cept me, but I haven't been on the program in so long, I can't actually answer any questions. Sigh.

Anyway, the stupid Advil seems to be catching up with me. I've been taking it religiously for the past week because my shoulder's been hurting so much. Workouts have been more consistent, but today I got really nauseated and dizzy after taking my morning dose. Enough that I'm missing my PT appointment AND work, because there's no way I can drive all the way there when I'm feeling this way. Argh.

Hey, Rob! I just wished you a belated l'shana tovah to you as well in Maintanance board, but thought I'd write it here too! Hope you had a lovely holiday!

So, mazel tov a million times over on the loose jeans? All hope is not lost - why not bring them to a tailor and have them fitted? If you invested that much $$ in them, it would be worth it to spend a few more dollars to make them fit the way you want, and certainly a waist and perhaps butt/thigh area can be fitted along the seams...

Regarding your not feeling well, while it could certainly be the Advil, it could also be some weird bug going around. I know quite a few people around here (and also near you, as I have clients in your area) who have some strange stomach flu thing, dizzy, nausea, the whole gamut. I hope that's not it, but it could be...you just can't catch a break these days, huh?

I hope it passes soon, because I know how pleased you were with your workout the other day...

Cheers,

Lauren
