It is indeed Bill Phillips! I have that book and the little video you can order for free... It's a cool program, also. It really is motivating (I'm using that word a lot!) to watch and hear people's stories!

Yeah, I loved his cardio workouts, too, with all the intervals. It's kinda how I started running. But I hated his strength workouts. I tried to do them at the gym, but I had to spend way too much time adjusting the machines between sets.

I started on his food plan when I hit maintenance, then tried a few other things, but somehow I seem to be pretty close to it again (although my carbs are probably a little lower than he recommends).

Weight slowly drifting down. I tried to do my PUSH workout last night (so yay for me for getting off the couch and starting it), but as soon as I hit an exercise that involved lunges, I realized it wasn't going to happen and that I was risking an injury. My one quad was still really painful (it's somewhat better today). If it's better tonight, I'll try again. If not, I'll try skipping the lower-body stuff and just going to the upper body and abs work.

Oh, and even my run didn't go so well today. I don't know if it was the sore leg or what. But I ended up doing the C25K-ish thing for half an hour and then just walking the rest. Still did 4.08 miles, so not TOO bad. Tomorrow's my day off. So hopefully by Friday my leg will be good to go again.

Hey, Rob -

Quad injuries suck. As do hamstring. Just when you think they're feeling better, that burn hits you all over again and it's so frustrating! Hope you're feeling better tonight, or certainly by Friday.

You can always do leg lifts and stuff to keep the legs active without putting any pressure/tension on the quads. I know, you know all this. Can't help it. Sorry. :-)

Have an awesome trip!

Hey, I'm used to the hamstring pain. I live with it in some degree or another almost every day (except, of course, when I went to the doctor). Sigh.

This was an actual injury, I think. The pain was bad enough that I took Advil a few times, and I NEVER take anything for pain.

Won't kill me to just give my legs a rest tonight, if it's still bothering me, and just do the rest (so my arms and abs can rejoin the pain party).

At least my food's been much better. Not that I'm seeing much in the way of results, but it's a start.

Went to dinner with my friend last night instead of tonight, so no workout last night (I didn't get home till about an hour before bedtime). This was my cardio day off, plus I had to fast for a blood test, so no walk or run, either.

I was good at dinner, though, so yay, me. Had a big salad with chicken, ate only a little of the feta on the salad, and kept the dressing on the side (for fork dipping). No bread, and a cup of strawberries for dessert. And I found out my friend restarted Medifast, so yay, her!

Weight was up a bit, but I figured it would be. It always is when I eat out, plus I didn't have my usual amount of water.

I hope everyone has a good day.

I have been a big fan of the dressing on the side/fork dipping option for a long time. My grandmother started doing that when she was diagnosed with diabetes and it really is incredible how much less dressing you use that way.

I'm glad your friend restarted! I wish her the best of luck. I love my MF journey, the ups and downs, and I hope someday it inspires a couple of my own friends to get on program and stick with it so they can get to a healthier weight. Hopefully it will happen one day! :D

Yeah, I'm a little concerned because she's gone on and off several times since I've known her. But she said this time she's following the diabetic plan, even though she's not diabetic, because you're allowed fruit. She figures she'll lose more slowly, but be better able to stick with it. I hope so because she's a great person, and really beautiful (inside and out). I don't think she's coming here, though. She seems to prefer the main Medifast boards.

Back from Austin, but no time to post much. My eating was not so good while I was gone, and I'm paying the price now - I feel MISERABLE. I'm staying home today to sleep, and hopefully a day of eating normally will get my tummy back on track.

The good news is I got my test results back, and everything still looks really good. Even bone density is good, although there are some degenerative changes in the vertebrae, apparently. And the doc says my vitamin D levels are low, so take calcium and D. And I'm just slightly anemic. But cholesterol and everything are great, so yay for that.

Oh, and how could I forget? I ended up going to the jeans store I had read so much about. Amazing. The guy picked out jeans that fit me better than any I've ever worn - out of maybe 15 pairs, only one didn't fit. And then when I was having trouble because they all seemed a bit low-waisted to me, he called over the sisters who own the place, who sized me up and explained why it was more flattering for my body to wear 'em a little lower than I normally do (but also emphasizing that I need to be comfortable in them or I won't wear them).

So I walked out with the most expensive pair of jeans I've ever bought - but they look fantastic (except I need them hemmed; they do that there, but since I don't live there, I'll bring them someplace here). The really odd thing is they're actually MEN'S jeans. Apparently that hourglass figure I've always had? Everyone, including my friend, agreed that for whatever reason, I don't actually have one anymore. I'm more straight up and down. Not sure how I feel about that.

Your hot new jeans are making me jealous! I cannot wait to buy new jeans that make me feel incredible. :D Nothing like an expert to help you figure out what will make you look best!

How was Austin aside from the food situation?

It was fun, but kinda disappointing. I want to go back, but next time with someone else. We had a good time most of the time, but the one thing I really wanted to do was see some live music, since the city is known for its music scene. We saw a comedy show Saturday night, so I did a lot of searching last week to find clubs with live music Sunday night. But then my friend decided at the last minute (like, when we were AT the club) that she didn't want to go. Because, she said, she didn't want to pay a cover charge (originally $7, reduced by the guy at the door to $5 - he even said if we didn't like the music and wanted to leave, he'd refund our money!!). So she didn't want to pay $5 for live music, but after we got back yesterday she apparently was fine with paying to go to dinner and a movie with other friends.

But the jeans store was very cool. It's called Hem. They don't sell anything else, and they're known for the personal attention you get. They even serve drinks, and I guess will make sure they have your favorite beer or whatever if you've been there before.

I just need to get the darn things hemmed right away, so I can wear 'em for a concert at the House of Blues on Saturday.

I'm envious of your jean shopping (and buying) experience. I just hemmed a pair of $182 jeans for someone....they were the most expensive jeans I've ever touched  and the only reason the price was shared with me was because the person felt I should know 'what' I was working on and possibly taking a pair of scissors to---- 7 brand? I know there are more words that go into the name along with 7 but fashion faux-pas that I am, I don't remember what they are right off the top of my head.

I did try the jeans on (hey, I was hemming for a relative for free) but they were too tight for me........I loved the feel and the drape of the denim though. I don't think I could ever spend that much on jeans.....but sure is tempting when you see some that fit someone so well, have beautiful feeling and draping fabric along with a sensational fit----

Sorry it was a bust as far as getting to do the music listening that you had hoped to do.

7 For All Mankind? That's actually the ones I got, too, but a men's pair. I'm gonna check on eBay at some point to see if I can find 'em cheaper, now that I know what to get. I tried 'em on again today before taking 'em to be hemmed - and OK, I have to admit, they do look pretty darn good on (and I think they're right, the slightly lower waist does look better).

Still feeling a little off today. Tired and sore, for no reason. Ran/walked for half an hour, then walked the rest because I was so tired. I want to try to do at least HALF of my PUSH workout tonight. I think doing the whole thing may be too ambitious right now.
