Hey Robin,

Sorry to hear about the mix up at the race. Maybe they'll respond to your email with your time. Hope your day gets better.

Yay! I e-mailed the race coordinator, and she lit a fire under the race management company. They found my time - 41:08, which I'm pretty happy about. Means I averaged just over 4.5 mph for the whole race. Considering I walked a bunch of it AND was way overdressed (I thought it was going to be a whole lot colder than it was), I think it was pretty good. I'd still like to get under 40 minutes, though, and I think I can if I correct a couple of things (mostly just dress more appropriately!!! I was sooooo hot).

So now I'm thinking I might do a New Year's Day race. I doubt I can get anyone else to come along, though.

I couldn't either, a couple of years ago. And I'm still not sure you could call what I do running OR jogging. Although given how much of it I walked, my running speed must have been pretty good.

A friend and I just signed up for the New Year's race.

I have never been a runner, but I love to walk now. Maybe when I lose the "belly roll", I will be more apt to run. That is if my ankle situation every gets fixed.

Congratulations on a great time! I know you will do well on NYD!

Congrats On your time Robin. That is awesome. I will be there with you in spirit on New Years Day. I would love to run, and hopefully one day I will. Maybe when I do stary you can give me some pointers.

My biggest pointer so far is to STRETCH. Every time I forget to do it, I pay for it.

This next race sounds interesting. Afterward they're serving black-eyed peas, cornbread and possibly beer. None of which I actually like, but it still sounds fun. Hopefully someplace nearby will be open for lunch if my friends end up going, too. I have two of 'em thinking about walking it.

But after this one, I think I'm just going to do Race for the Cure and the zoo run I did last year, and maybe one when I'm in Denver if I can find one. And that's it till next fall/winter.

I'm still amazed to even be talking about this. The first time I did a 5K, years and years ago when I was on WW, it took me over an hour and my feet hurt so much I could barely walk by that night.

Just checking in. 130.8 this morning. Still alternating between walking and running intervals, plus plenty of stairs at work. Food's been pretty good lately, too.

Congrats on the lower weight, ROBIN. Inspires me to try harder to get to 130# and below.
I know what you mean about the sabotaging...something in my head  I guess...
Sunday was my free treat day and of course it shows today...but still under goal.
I'm getting my second eye cataract surgery Wednesday, so I am off of most exercise for awhile, except walking.

I actually take back what I said about the sabotage, Lizabette. Last time I hit 131 and was extremely careful to stay on track with eating and exercising ... and yet the next day, there I was, back at 132 point something. So I think it's not me, it's my body, that's resisting.

I'd still like to drop a little lower, but I'm not stressing about it. I haven't used FitDay in weeks and I'm still fluctuating the same 2 pounds or so. And I got a new wristwatch heart rate monitor for Hanukkah, which said to first test my resting heart rate before it determined my exercise levels. So I followed the instructions and tested at about 54 beats per minute; it rated me "elite," the best category. So I'm trying to just stick with what I'm doing and not worry so much about a few pounds.

Glad you're doing well! Seems like you are doing what you need to do and letting go somewhat of the results like we have to sometimes.

I'm getting better at this maintenance thing all the time. Today was our big holiday lunch at work (fajitas are traditional here). At first I was just going to eat my turkey chili, but I'm not very fond of this week's batch, which tastes like a salt lick. So I decided to go with the fajitas instead and test my restraint. And I passed!

I had two tortillas, one with a small amount of chicken fajitas (maybe an ounce or two) and the other with veggies (summer squash, zucchini and portobello mushrooms). Topped 'em with lettuce and salsa and a small amount of guacamole (healthy fat; maybe one tablespoon's worth). Skipped the cheese and sour cream and all that stuff, as well as the beef fajitas. No beans, one bite of rice just to taste it. And from a big tray of desserts, I took half of one chocolate thing - then took a tiny bite of it and decided it was too sweet, so I trashed it and had a 100-cal pack of cookies instead.

I'm pretty impressed with myself lately, I have to say. At the holiday PARTY that we had last week, I checked everything out but decided there just wasn't anything on there that I would feel comfortable eating (except some fruit, but I really didn't feel like fruit, so I skipped that, too). I just hung out and schmoozed while other people ate.

And then when I went with a friend last Friday to review a restaurant (Italian and Greek food), my entire indulgence consisted of one piece of garlic bread (I LOVE garlic bread, so having just one piece was a HUGE success for me) and half a piece of baklava (which I didn't especially want, but she had to try it for the review, and wanted me to taste it because of my Greekness; so I agreed to half, which was basically just one bite).

Weight's been up since Monday, but I figure that's the salt-lick chili talking (since my ring suddenly got tight, too, which is a sure sign for me). I'm thinking of tossing the rest and making a new batch tonight with my usual spice mix instead of this new one I used.

Congrats on working the party gigs so well! I have to admit that I have been invited with my husband to two holiday parties and am declining not just because of the food but because of the booze. Hopefully one day I can feel stronger but I just don't want to be tempted. Maybe I wouldn't be-but not willling to risk it now. Holidays were always my fave time to drink because everyone else was drinking like me so I seemed normal!

I avoided most of them last year because I wasn't strong enough to face the food (as I learned at the one I DID attend; I seem to remember eating two pieces of pie and a small pile of cookies at that one!!! ).

It's much better to avoid them if you feel you're not ready. I wasn't sure I ever WOULD be ready, so this is very encouraging.

Because really, even when I find a dessert too sweet, I tend to end up eating it anyway. I'm SO proud for trashing it. (Oh, and I forgot that I ignored all the chips, too. Yay. But I really only even THOUGHT about eating those for a split-second. And then I remembered how good I've been with my morning workouts. And decided they weren't even CLOSE to worth it.)

Hey Robin!!!..wanted to come over and say hello to you it's been awhile, and also tell you how i admire your "discipline" where all that good sounding food is concerned. Get's kinda hard sometimes for us maintainers especially because we DO have the free will to choose what to eat and how much..i find myself on my toes moreso NOW than when i wasn't trying to maintain...thank God for WW Points Plan helping me, you can even have a litle bread on that one:+) however, i still do intersperse the medifast RTD's into my meal plans...each one is only 1 point..! You're doing good:+)
