DH and I walked at the Y today. Guess we're all being good little girls. :)

131.0 because of COURSE it couldn't be so easy to drop to 130. Sheesh.

Anyway, probably a run/walk (or jog/walk, whatever) this morning. Or a walk. I'll see once I get on the treadmill and get going. It's getting cold in the mornings, so I'm a little creakier when I get up and my hip was bothering me most of the night.

Robin, does it seem like your body (thinking weight wise) is responding more favorably to the walking versus the running? I should go back and look at your weight references myself to see, but it seems like you are lower than when you were running more?

I'm still not exercising  ......soon though. ;)

It definitely is, T. I noticed it when I hurt my toe and had to cut back, so I've stayed at a more relaxed pace ever since. I still work up a sweat, and I run some of the time (today I alternated 10 minutes running, 5 walking for a while and then just went with walking uphill for a bit). I talked about it a little earlier (no need to go back, though) ... I think I do better if I keep my heart rate a bit lower and more in the fat-burning zone.

I'm going to stick with pretty much exactly what I'm doing right now, at least as long as it keeps working. Because my weight's been dropping pretty steadily, and even my upward bounces are lower. And I'm really happy with my food right now, too. Might as well post a typical day, since it's been awhile:

7:20 a.m. or so (whenever I finish my workout and stretch): Low-carb protein shake with a few slices of frozen banana (and a tablespoon of PB2) or a few frozen berries
11 a.m.: Fritatta (1 cup egg substitute, 2 tablespoons low-fat feta, 1/3 package frozen spinach) and two low-carb tortillas
1:30 or 2 p.m.: Varies, but usually a Lean Cuisine panini and sometimes a 100-calorie pack of cookies
4:30-ish: An apple and either a slice of low-fat cheese or a fat-free, sugar-free yogurt
7 or 7:30: About 4 ounces of chicken breast (or pork tenderloin or a somewhat larger portion of fish) and veggies (usually green beans or broccoli). Plus a little butternut squash if I didn't have the cookies earlier.
8-ish: Either a piece of fruit (apple or small banana) or 2 sugar-free Fudgsicles

Plus, of course, 7-8 bottles of water. Workouts have been 45-50 minutes of cardio daily (longer on the weekends), sporadic strength training, and the stairs to and from work every day (I think it's about 150 each way, if I remember correctly). If this continues to work, I'll be a very happy camper. Because it's definitely something I can easily live with long-term.

Hey, Robin -

Glad to hear your toe's improving and weight is dropping and meal plan is working! The trifecta, huh? :-)

I am having a blank and your post just reminded me...what was that peanut butter thing you found? I remember looking it up when you first mentioned it, now I can't remember what it was called...

Thanks!

The PB2 peanut butter powder? www dot bellplantation dot com. I don't like it mixed with water to make peanut butter, but it's GREAT added to shakes and stuff.

And thanks, Lauren. I'm crossing my fingers that this will actually keep working. But so far I even weathered the hockey-game fries without a big bounce up, so I'm a happy camper. Funny how exercise always seems to cause problems for me. I stopped losing on Medifast when I started working out, too. Some weird response my body has, but I can't really object to NOT having to push myself so hard.

I can't really say jogging has done that much for me except as recreation and mood elevation. I've been jogging a month and a day and have lost a negligible amount since then. I have varied issues, but I think it is a very good point to make that there are STILL no magic bullets. You can't start slipping in food here and there just because you're jogging or walking like I tell myself sometimes. I'm walking, living breathing proof!

Very true. And too MUCH exercise always seems to be more of a problem for me than too little. Oddly enough, I seem to have more leeway now, when I'm doing LESS. Before, I wouldn't even consider those 100-calorie packs. And I still limit them to one a day. But they work perfectly well in my plan and they don't seem to be slowing me down at all.

I am glad things are working so well for you now on the eating/fitness plane for right now! Now if we could just find you a nice Jewish doctor...

Ha. I was just talking to my friend about that, sort of. The one who broke up with her boyfriend a day after I complained on here that she brought him along every time we had plans. Sigh.

I've been wondering lately if I'm just not suited for a relationship. I really just don't like people enough. I'm not sure there's ANYone I could stand hanging out with more than maybe once a week or so. And even that might be pushing it.

Funny that's kind of what my marriage is like. Before we started exercising together, Monday was our day. He would take me to Union Station or Macy's, buy me some perfume or makeup or some undies and then we would go to Starbucks. The rest of the time he is working, training, sleeping or on his computer while I am on mine.

Oh, but he's still THERE some of the time, right? I'm VERY used to being alone with just the dogs. I would like someone who lives across town and just comes over once a week to do stuff. And maybe - MAYBE - if I like him enough, we could do a whole weekend on occasion. Maybe.

Sounds like you just need a gay male "girlfriend."

That would be perfect. I had one in San Diego, actually. But all the gay guys at work are taken (by men, not by other women).

132.2. I can only assume it's extra sodium, even though I had an extra bottle of water yesterday.

131.4. Woke up very late for me (7:20!), but I'm going to try to get the dogs fed and taken care of and then force myself to go run/walk outside. Maybe I could walk to the junior high, then try to run a bit, and walk back, just as a way to get started. Or even walk to the school just to see where the track is and what it's like, then walk back.
