Are you really???? I'm 46, as of a few weeks ago ... maybe it's all the student talk!

So, up a bit today, to 132.4. No reason, though, so I'm assuming it's bloat (actually, I know it is because the body-fat number suddenly dropped on the Tanita, which always means that what really changed was my hydration; probably the soy sauce I dumped on my veggies last night and the five almonds I had right before bed because I was hungry). Aaaaaanyway, I'm just going to stick to what I've been doing, except I skipped my morning run and will probably just walk later on today. My hamstring or sciatica or whatever it is woke me up a few times last night, so I think it needs a bit of a rest. And an Aleve or two.

Hey Robin,

Hope the Aleve help. Sore hamstrings are no fun. People in the yoga class I've taken at the gym a few times say that it helps them with their soreness - maybe you could try it. I'm not a big fan of the gym class, but that's because I was looking for a little more relaxation and breathing techniques than stretching per se. Hope you have a great weekend!

Thanks, Queenie. Stretching isn't really doing the trick, and it's more than just my hamstring, so I really think it's sciatica and not just a hamstring pull. I'm just going to rest it a little today and see how it goes.

Up a little after no exercise yesterday (except a bit of arm work, but at home, not the gym) and a little food adventure yesterday afternoon and evening. I'm going to run this morning once the dogs are fed, though, and I'm going back to plan today. This seems to be turning into Body For Life eating, or something similar. Which is how I started. But with tamer free days and fewer bars.

Woo hoo! Ran slightly faster (0.1 mph faster - baby steps) and for 33 out of the 45 minutes. I think I might actually be able to run the whole 5K, if it'll just cool off a little outside by then. Now I just need to find my arm band for my iPod. I got one awhile ago to use at the gym, but haven't used it because I usually just go with whatever music they have blaring there.

Thought I'd mix things up a little today, so I went back to the Shape incline workout from a few months ago (plus added 15 minutes at the end). I'm hoping to do the tape this afternoon at work, too.

That's my mini-goal right now. To go 30 minutes without stopping. Of course I am jogging most of the time not really running. But some day...

Oh, believe me, my running is really more like jogging. And I think half the walkers might pass me in the 5K race ... but my heart rate's up, I'm pouring sweat and I'm burning calories, so I don't care. I'm not racing anyone except myself.

Weight unchanged, after eating a little extra last night (lamb chops instead of chicken breast, and a little more than I'd usually eat). Also managed to bake and frost a cake and stay out of the frosting (except a tiny smidge to try it since it was a new recipe).

Off to run, although I'm feeling the tiniest bit woozy this morning (sinuses, I think), so I'm not sure how well I'll do.

Ran 33 minutes straight (walked the rest, for a total of 45 minutes). Bumped up the speed by another 0.1 mph. Off to have my morning protein shake (which, btw, seems to be working for me; I have that first thing after my run, along with a couple of bottles of water, then have my egg-substitute fritatta in a few hours).

Did a tape this afternoon AND managed to bring the cake and schmooze with my former co-workers (it's the department I used to work in) for a while without having any of it. I thought about having a piece, but decided that I'd already strayed too much this week. There will be other cakes (heck, I MADE it, so if I really want it some other time, I could just make it again).

Good for you! Since I am eating now, cakes are scarier things! WW gives you 35 points to play around with each week. You can use them on anything that isn't on the CORE program, even cake. A point is about 50 calories. I am just thinking I should stick to plan right now. Okay,n I'mmm off to jog with Paul!~

I could never handle those "free" calories and points that they gave you. Although the core thing sounds a little easier, at least. But when they had points (the last time I did it), the leader would actually encourage us to eat crap like these low-fat pastry things they had at the supermarket because they were very low in points. So you could eat a bunch of 'em - which I would do. Not exactly healthy.

Sugar's not such a trigger for me anymore, but I just figure I didn't NEED the cake, and I'd already had enough unhealthy stuff for the week. And I'd rather hold out for something more special. Like, I'm taking the same friend out for her birthday, and chances are she's going to want something I shouldn't eat very often. So I'll wait for that meal, and then after that, I think I'm going to stay away from most splurges until Thanksgiving.

Today's a walking day, unfortunately (I prefer my running days). So off I go ...

Ha. That's ONE food I actually don't care for all that much. I've never been a big doughnut fan. Not that I wouldn't eat one if it was offered, but I wouldn't go seek it out.
