Skye, I now get up at 5:45 so I have time to feed the dogs, let 'em out a few times to play, work out for 45 minutes, have breakfast, get my food ready for the day and get showered and dressed for work. Ugh.

And thanks, Queenie. Only thing is I'm not doing 5K in that amount of running time because I run so slowly. But I'm going to keep building speed and duration till I'm running the whole 5K, even if I'm not doing it in the time they say on the program. But I'm planning to run the whole thing Oct. 13, even if it takes me 40 minutes to do it!!

I'm pretty proud, though. I skipped the first three weeks of the program, and I've only taken two extra weeks to do it (one because I was on vacation, which threw me off). Yay!!

28 minutes is still fantastic! I saw a flier for an October 5k that I should sign up for. There is a 10k walk/run on Thanksgiving that I should do, too. We'll see.

Oh, that's a good idea on Thanksgiving. I wonder if I could do one while I'm visiting my brother. I'll have to see if there's one nearby, close enough to a hotel I can stay at. Although last year the weather was so horrible there, maybe not.

I gained half a pound but no doubt it was my lack of exercise yesterday coupled with my sammichfest the night before. It just took a day to appear? Just got back from my walk and feel loads better.

Good morning! Thanks for the info on the couch to 5k. I checked it out. Will be something I add eventually. I talked to hub and will try to work on this in the evenings after he is home so I can leave baby home.

Oooh, a nice NSV today. I initially was going to wear the sundress from the bat mitzvah to services (with a sweater over it), but at the last minute I changed my mind, took it off and put on an outfit I wore to services last year. Which turned out to be too big. Not so big that I can't wear it, but big enough that it looked baggy on me. Considering a year ago I was already in maintenance and actually weighed a few pounds less than I do now, that's pretty darn encouraging.

And then, of course, I regretted not wearing the sundress because I looked SO skinny in it. But my friend picked me up so it was too late to change back. Oh, well. Maybe next week for Yom Kippur. I figure I can wear the purple dress that night and the sundress during the day.

132.0, after eating a little more than usual yesterday (because I was starving by the time services ended; plus for the traditional apples and honey, I sliced up an apple and drizzled it with honey, which turned out to be a pretty tasty treat).

Anyway, off to run, even though I'm not sure I feel like it today.

I don't know if you meant that as really good advice, but that's how I'm taking it. I keep waiting to be rested enough or in the mood. I did meet my goal of working out twice a week but secretly I wanted it to be every day. Next week I'm going for 3 days!

I feel that way if I really pushed it the day before with stairs and 3 miles but otherwise don't give myself a break for more than 1 day. Sometimes my depression kicks in and I don't even leave the house except to go down to the lobby to check the mail.

Good for you, Nicks. Baby steps. As long as you're moving it counts! :)

Exactly, Nick. It's better to start off slow, and keep your goals attainable. And three days a week is actually great.

Biks, I know it's a struggle for you sometimes. But you do so much with your walking and stairs normally that taking a day off here and there should be fine.

I have problems taking a day off from workouts, and I really should take my own advice. Sigh. The last day I took off was Sept. 3, when I was traveling. I was hoping not to have another one till next Saturday, because I'm not planning to work out on Yom Kippur while I'm fasting.

Anyway, the run didn't QUITE happen today. I started, but I was having some pain in my hamstring and then some twinges in my knee that worried me. So I slowed it down to a fast walk (4 mph) and walked a bit over 3 miles. Not quite a day off, but maybe two days in a row of walking instead of running will be good for me, and I'll be 100 percent again by tomorrow morning. But I think it's because I haven't been to the gym in a couple of weeks, so I need to go this weekend and start building up my hamstrings again; strong hamstrings are supposed to help protect the knee.
