Hey, Rob-

You know I'll never fight you on increasing your calories, but I also want to mention that you shouldn't look at today's weight as a reflection of any reality, considering you had a Lean Cuisine with way more sodium than you normally take in...it could have had a significant role in your scale.

Just a thought.

Hope you and baby are doing well!

I was going to say something similar, although I don't have as much experience to draw on. Gradually increasing your calories seemed to be working for you, so don't let a few days of stress lead you to give up on something that might be just what you need. Just adding a voice - you are the best judge in the end.

Biki's right, you ARE the greatest dog ma - I love my 'kids' but I don't know if I could handle all that you are doing.

Well, I THOUGHT the Lean Cuisine had increased my sodium, but I forgot I had cut back on other things to make up for it, so according to FitDay it wasn't really any higher than normal. It's true, though, the stress may be affecting things a bit. But I'm not looking at just the past couple of days. I seemed to be on a downward trend when I was at 1400 a day, and when I started heading toward 1500, I started skewing up a little bit. I was at 132.0, and now I've been just a bit over that for at least a week. Not enough to be concerned, but enough to think maybe increasing calories wasn't the right move.

As for Teemu, he's my baby. Nickie, if your daughter needed this kind of stuff, you wouldn't even think about it. He's in pain, and he needs me. But I hate having to shove pills down his throat. I don't know why he suddenly won't eat cheese.

My cat would rip me to shreds when I tried to give him medicine, but Teemu never does anything like that. Even as scared as he was the other night, and as much pain as he was in, he cooperated with the vet and the techs like a champ. He's SUCH a good dog. I love him so much, it makes me want to cry sometimes. For as terrified as he can get, he's just so brave.

My mother used to wrap her cat up in what she called his "Dinner Jacket" before giving him meds. He was abandoned and was bottle fed so was very trusting.

Glad to hear Teemu is on the mend. Hmmm wonder what happened to his paws. Our big girl Heidi managed to wear sores on her paw pads playing on concrete ... but doesn't sound like that.
Oh and I had a big Maine Coon Cat named Arnold. He loved amoxicillan
(I think thats what it was -- sticky pink stuff in a bottle with a dropper) He thought it was his special treat and was always unhappy when it was gone ... crazy cat!!

I found a way to get him to take the meds - Junior Mints (and yes, I know chocolate is bad for dogs, but really it's only dangerous in large quantities; my dog growing up had a little chocolate mint every night for most of his 18 years, and my cousin used Junior Mints to give her dog medication, too). Anyway, it's working like a charm, and his paws are looking much better already. I had a bit of a scare last night because it looked like he was losing hair on his paw, but I think they must have shaved it at the vet and I just didn't notice before. I called to ask, but the doc who worked on him wasn't there and no one knew for sure.

Meanwhile, 133.8 this morning. So the higher cals are definitely not working. Oh, and I got through the second Week 5 c25k workout this morning - jog 8 minutes, walk 5, jog 8. Plus warm-up and cool-down, of course. I'm really worried about the next one, though, when you jog 20 minutes straight. I think I may repeat this one another time or two first.

Oh, and my car A/C seemed to give out on my way to work today. Just when we finally hit triple digits. Lovely.

Plus I got the foundation garment I ordered to go with the purple dress. Way too constricting for me, so I'm going to send it back. The dress also isn't as tight as I remembered, for some reason. So I think if I can get just a plain all-in-one type deal to eliminate lines, I should be fine. I'll stop at Kohl's this weekend. At least they have air conditioning, since the earliest repair appointment I could get was Monday morning.

Glad to hear about Teemu. I would have never thought of Junior Mints. Good work on the C25K. I had the same doubts as you do about being able to complete the longer jogs, but each time I stepped on the treadmill, I was able to complete the workout. I would start by telling myself that I could always quit but I at least had to try. So the 20 minutes will seem like a lot, but you can do!

Hope the temperature cools down at least until Monday.

Yeah, no luck with the temperature. It's supposed to be over 100 for the next week. Sigh. My best hope is to not leave the house too much (except maybe to go to the movies, where it's nice and cool).

And yeah, I'll at least give it a try. I figure I want to at LEAST do 10 minutes straight, if I don't feel like I can do 20. And I may eat first, to give myself a little more energy.

be careful with the junior mints-- the bitter chocolate used is several times more toxic to dogs than milk chocolate. people really under estimate how little chocolate it needed to cause organ failure, and no one takes into account the higher levels of "chocolate" in bitter & semi-sweet candies/bars.
