Purple seems to be a favorite for a lot of us here. :)

It's really a pretty purple, too. I can't do black; it makes me look even more ghostly pale than normal.

I wish I could find a photo of the other dress, but I couldn't find it online. Sigh. But yes, I'm sure there will be photos of me IN the dresses once I get back from Denver.

Argh. Had to make a last-minute food substitution because I left one of my snacks home. Sigh. It's not a huge deal, but I was kinda looking forward to the soy crisps (olive oil and feta-flavored) and had to have a Fiber One bar instead. I wanted salty and crunchy and got stuck with sweet and chewy.

But I'm wearing some jeans I haven't worn in almost a year (mostly just because I found some I liked better), and they fit the same as before. I'd be happier if they fit LOOSER than before, but I'll settle for this for now.

Fantastic dress, Rob! They do say that purple is the universal color that everyone looks good in, so it's no surprise it's so popular here! I love a great wrap dress (even the faux ones)!

And I, too, bought the famous book, which as I mentioned, is not normally my style, but even the first couple pages hit home! I'm not far in, but while she does seem to get a bit redundant, I love to feel like someone "gets" my schtick. People assume it's all good when we get to this weight, that there are no issues, but a whole new crop of issues come with the territory, and it's refreshing to have someone articulate it like this. So thanks for the referral!

Ciao!

I know; I skimmed a few parts because she repeats herself a bit. But I'm glad you're enjoying. I really did find it different from other maintenance books, because she really seemed to get it. (I still think she owes me some sort of commission, though!!)

Some of us need lots of repetition - the library still doesn't have this book so I haven't gotten it yet, but I'm looking forward to it. We might get to a mall sometime so I can buy it. Maybe if it had been around a dozen years ago I could have read it the first time I slimmed down after high school and avoided all this.... Well, second time's the charm. :)

I thought the same thing, Nickie. Maybe if I'd read it when I slimmed down either after high school or the second time, when I was in my 20s. Then again, maybe I wasn't ready for it then.

True, I was probably too young and pig-headed for any self-help book then. And besides, I would never have met all the wonderful people here if I hadn't been a pudge-o and needed MF.

Sigh. What a night. I got hiome and fed the dogs, but Teemu was still limping quite a bit. I went to look at his paw and he screamed when I touched it. So I couldn't see much, but it looked all red and horrible underneath, and then I saw a red patch on a back paw, too. So I took him to the ER, where we waited more than two hours before we saw a doctor (and watched a dog have a seizure and have to be taken in the back and put down). And while we were waiting, I was chatting with the people next to me, who had just lost a dog over the weekend and had another sick one there. Turned out he had parvo and ALSO was going to be put down (I found this out when I was leaving).

Anyway, Teemu has hematomas on both front paws, plus something weird on one back paw. They had to sedate him to aspirate it (because they didn't know what it was at the time and thought it was an abscess). Then they couldn't open it all the way without completely knocking him out because it was so painful; they didn't think it was necessary, though.

This morning he's still kind of doped up, and now I have to give him pain meds and antibiotics, plus put ointment on all three paws, give him "hydrotherapy" three times a day and try to get him to tolerate me putting warm oatmeal or rice (because they hold heat well, the doc said) on his paws a few times a day as a hot pack (in plastic, not slathering on oatmeal). And if he doesn't show improvement in three days, he needs to go back (although if he stays doped up, I'll take him to my regular vet). So now I'm debating whether to go to work or whether to stay and watch him.

Meanwhile, I got next to no sleep, plus I went before I ate dinner, so I ended up having a bar from my purse and nothing else.

So 133.0 today but I don't care and I'm not worried. I had less water than normal, no sleep and more carbs. If I stay home from work, I'll try the c25k workout later. If not, I'll just be off a day this week.

I sure hope that Teemu gets better soon. I know it is hard to do all the things vets want you to do, especially when they start to feel better.

I know how much you get attached to them also. I have lost 2 dogs in the past year. We also got a new one about a year ago.

I'm so sorry about Teemu. After Diesel had her surgery I stayed up all night just trying to get her to drink water or eat a little something. I know it is hard for you. I'll be thinking about you and Teemu!

Hi Robin,

I'm keeping you and Teemu in my thoughts. Hope he heals nicely and that this is the last health incident he has.

Take care.

Thanks, everyone. He's doing a little better, I'm happy to report. He's alert nad putting a little weight on it. And he even let me do the hydrotherapy AND the heat compresses (a new use for oatmeal!). And I got a bit of a nap finally, so I got up and did the c25k workout. First one of week 5 - jog 5 minutes, walk 3, jog 5, walk 3, jog 5. Thursday I have to jog for 8-minute intervals, and Saturday I'm supposed to jog 20 minutes straight. I'm a little apprehensive, but I didn't think I'd make it 5 minutes, either, so maybe I'll do fine. Twenty minutes seems like an awfully long time, though.

Anyway, I got to have a nice treat today and work it into my daily meal plan. I had a Lean Cuisine panini. I can't REMEMBER the last time I ate a sandwich, so it was pretty nice. I won't have 'em often, though, because I try to avoid frozen food (all the extra sodium).

Hope everyone's having a good day. I'm off to check on Tay and get a little more rest before it's time for his next treatment.

133.2. Increasing calories doesn't seem to be working, so I'm cutting back to 1400, with a few more on days I lift.

Teemu's paws look a little better. Did the Shape workout today. Need to scarf down breakfast so I have time to put the hot pack on his paws before I go to work.

Glad Teemu is improving. I am convinced he has the best mother in the world.
