That's not how I read it, but I'm asking them to be sure. If it is that much, guess what my birthday gift will be this year. :)

133.2. It's not even enough to call it a bounce, although I was hoping to be DOWN today. But looking back, I usually don't lose the day after the Thursday workouts, which are more intense than other days. Maybe I need a few more calories on Thursdays.

Anyway, did the treadmill this morning, have a tape this afternoon, and will do legs at the gym tonight.

I was hoping I was missing something big and obvious re: the Bodybugg. I'm interested in what you find out.

I am considering the book you mentioned yesterday as it sounds interesting. I pulled an old book out of my bookcase a few days ago "What to say when you talk to yourself"....I've never read the entire book, but when I open it and just skim a paragraph or two in various parts of the book---it sounds really good. I cannot remember where I read about this book or when exactly I bought it---but it is my 'next read'. Best I can describe it is how our negative 'beat ourselves up over everything' attitude and self talk sets us up to fail.

I'm quite curious about how you are going to like the book you picked up yesterday........sounds like it might have some good information in it. Wish we had a library card ($100 a year if you don't live in the city limits) so I could read without having to buy all the time.....I should keep track and see if I do spend over $100 a year on books .....the library card might actually save me money! Duh on me, again!

Ugh. I think you might be right about the BodyBugg. I e-mailed to check, but it kinda makes sense. I'm a doofus sometimes (and I was so excited about getting it, I wasn't paying that much attention). Guess I'll be telling my brother that's what I want for my birthday this year. Sigh. Which is OK, since there wasn't really anything else I was hoping for.

The book won't be released till the end of the month, FYI. So far, I really like it. She talks a little about the whole process of losing weight, and the fear she felt when she started losing enough that she got attention and people started paying attention to (and commenting on) her body. And she talks about how the world saw her as thin when she still felt like she needed to lose another 10 pounds (sound familiar?).

So far, I really like it. But I haven't gotten to the parts where she tells you how NOT to feel that way anymore. Ha. I'm starting to change the self-talk, though. Today I saw my legs in the mirror and instead of thinking how big and chunky they still are, I started to think they actually look very strong and athletic. And my butt still looks kinda saggy normally, but when I flex it (don't ask), it actually looks pretty darn great.

I do weighted lunges across the gym and back (carrying 20 pounds, about 40-50 reps), plus some at home and some as part of one of my afternoon tapes.

But no, don't go looking for the book just yet. It won't be released till the 24th. Mine is an advance copy sent for review.

Anyhoo ~ I'm glad you won the bugg auction! You haven't even received it yet and it's already working for you! HeeHee.

Thanks for sharing info on that book, it sounds very interesting - I may have to add it to my summer reading list! Next month, did you say?
Maybe instead of forensic psychology I'll want to switch to dieting psychology. Hmmmmm. Maybe I'll combine the two and only work with fat criminals or something?!! Could be a whole new specialty!

Yeah, too bad I'm gonna go broke on this Bugg thing. Because yes, it's $199 for the three-month deal and the coaching sessions. Argh. I got so excited about getting one, I REALLY didn't read it very carefully. Oh, well.

The good news is I'm almost done with my training contract, so I'll be saving money there. And I'll talk to my brother this weekend about making at least part of it my birthday gift. Sigh.

And what can I say? Part of my self-talk therapy is actually LOOKING in the mirror so I can find some positive things to say. And the flexed-butt was definitely a positive. At least it's not saggy ALL the time anymore.

Maybe if the fat criminals lost weight and learned to accept their bodies, they wouldn't BE criminals anymore!

Hey, Robin -

Congrats for breaking that 133.8 barrier (I think that's what you said it was)!

The book actually sounds pretty darn compelling, and I am not a big fan of self-help books - they often are so, I don't know, obvious? Like, yeah, duh, I get it. But I'd be curious about the author's sections on the fear of gaining it back (pervasive fear, but it keeps me in check, so not sure I want to lose it!), and how to accept compliments. It's not that I don't know how, it's that people are so effusive, and will just keep loading them on that it becomes awkward, how many different ways can you say thank you? :-) Let me know if any of her solutions are actually useful, or if she does a better job just posing the situation, and not giving quality tools to respond. I am so curious!

Thanks!

I will. I've still only read a little bit of it (kept getting distracted by dogs and TV). It's definitely reassuring to hear someone going through exactly the same things I have.

She also has sections about weight-loss surgery and the different issues faced by people who have had it, for those who are interested.

And thanks, on breaking through. I'm so pleased by that. And I know I'm lower than the scale said this morning, because after breakfast I was only up about a pound and a half, when it's usually 3 (I know, but the scale is right there while I'm waiting for my shower to heat up). You know the one change I think I'm going to make? Rather than adjusting calories on the days I work out more than usual, I think I may just try drinking extra water. Because I sweat more but don't usually bother drinking anything more, and I probably should.

Yes, well I'll certainly be interested in the surgery part - since I'm going to be doing it someday in the near future.

In reference to your adding water, I just ordered a fairly new product (hasn't arrived yet), called Nuun, which is an electrolyte replacement, but without the sugar/calories/carbs. My biggest obstacle in all this running I now do is how to get the electrolytes without having to drink the high-sugar energy drinks or gels or such. I just can not wrap my head around drinking something with 100 calories, even though I know I am burning infinitely more, it's just such a waste! So I know for certain I am not refueling sufficiently, and as I continue to increase my speed and mileage, it's critical that I get some of the sodium and potassium that's lost in sweat. Supposedly this Nuun stuff has zero calories, zero carbs, zero sugar, just sodium and potassium and whatever else is included in electrolytes, so we'll see how that goes. Then I can leave the carb replacements (which I'll still need) to real, healthy food, screw the Gatorade! :-) Just thought I'd mention it if you were looking for something more than water...

Ciao!

I'm not sure that I sweat enough (especially all at one time) to need a special drink. But let me know if it helps, and what it tastes like. I tend to only like water, though, plus an occasional Diet Coke (but lately VERY occasional, like one every few weeks).

The surgery thing is actually two sections: one on surgery post weight loss, like for excess skin, and one for people who had bariatric or similar surgery.

Had to adjust my food plan a little today when I got to leave work early (as thanks for working on a big Harry Potter package). I wound up leaving right when I had planned to eat, and since I was heading straight for the gym, I need to eat SOMEthing on my way. So I had a bar (a yucky-tasting one, though; it reminded me of the old-style chocoalte Medifast ones, which I didn't care for) and a bottle of water. Messed up my totals for the day, so I did some tinkering and came up with a new dinner that will work pretty well (using stuff I have in the house, because I'm all sweaty and don't want to have to shower again but can't see going to the store like this; eyew).

Anyway, I'm sure no one else cares about this but me (and I'm not sure I even care all that much - it's all in FitDay, anyway).

I'm gonna try to stay away from the 'puter tonight and either veg and watch TV or read that Thin Club book.

Oh, and I got my new Shape magazine today, so hopefully it'll have a new workout. I'm getting a little tired of the treadmill one. I was thinking of running this weekend instead, actually, just for some variety.

I expected to be up quite a bit after hitting the gym yesterday, so 133.8 is actually much lower than I thought it would be. Yay!! Should be up tomorrow, too, because I see the trainer today. And then I'm hoping it'll drop a bunch early next week again.

Treadmill this morning, then breakfast, then off to the trainer. And then I'll have to race home to shower and change and run out to meet my friend. We're going to a museum to see an exhibit I've really wanted to see. And possibly shopping afterward, although I suspect we won't have time for that. (Not that I should be shopping after buying the darn BodyBugg, but I do still need a dress for the bat mitzvah. And probably shoes, since Mojo ate my favorite pumps.)

ETA: I'm also going to attempt a body-image exercise from the book today. I'll be venturing out in something sleeveless. I think. And I'm not going to weigh myself the rest of the day.

I would love to hear about the body-image exercise and how it goes. I am going sleeveless today too.

Robin,

You continue to amaze me. How do you find time for all that exercise!

I would love to hear about the body image stuff too. I am trying to stop being so body critical. I don't go sleeveless yet, but I have graduated to cap sleeves. My arms are one of my big issues. Any suggestions? I have been doing some exercises with resistance bands by Michael Thurmond. Then of course weight loss! :D

Hope you have a great day at the museum with your friend.
