With naughty Mojo and your exercise routine you don't have time for a man. Most of them are not worth it anyway.

That's been my conclusion lately! My time's too valuable to waste on just anyone, so till I find someone worth it, I'd just as soon be on my own.

Bounced up to 134.4 for no good reason. Sigh. Maybe because yesterday was the bigger cardio day? I don't know. I'm going to look back and see if I bounce up EVERY week at this time.

Anyway, no treadmill today. I'm going to do the tape this afternoon and the gym tonight.

Thanks, Biki. It's already off to a strange start. With no treadmill in the morning, I don't know quite what to do with myself.

But a big YAY for Mojo. She ate two full meals in a row, thanks to a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese. A trainer on TV had recommended putting garlic on a dog's food to get her to eat, because they're attracted to strong smells. Well, garlic did absolutely nothing for her. But I thought of what other strong-smelling foods I have around, and decided to try the cheese. She gobbled it up last night AND this morning. Yay for Mojo!!!

And btw, I realize I'm all down about a freakin' half a pound. And that I'm once again having a bit of sandbox trouble that could also account for it. But it's not like I'm CHANGING anything because of the bounce. I took the day off the treadmill just because I think six days a week is probably better than seven (plus I was up a lot during the night and just plain didn't feel like it). Other than that, I'm not doing anything different.

Except I took the stairs this morning since I didn't do the treadmill. Nowhere near the same, but at least it was something.

Robin, sorry you're feeling frustrated with the scale, but I have to ask why you think 1/2 pound is a bounce at all? Our bodies fluctuate constantly, whether it's when we last went to the bathroom (liquid or otherwise), whether it's humid out, whether we drank one extra glass of water, walked a few more steps, a shift in the universe, anything! Our bodies are not machines, and even if you did EXACTLY the same thing every day and ate EXACTLY the same amount and exercised EXACTLY the same, you STILL would fluctuate. It's life. Things shift. I totally understand that you still want to lose more (especially the body fat), but to be so consumed by the decimal points on the scale doesn't seem so useful.

I think you're doing amazing work with your efforts to figure out a great food plan, and your exercise program is awesome - so why be so focused on the scale, especially over such minute amounts?

Just a thought.

Keep rockin', though, you are doing awesome!

It's just that I was seeing a steady progression downward, and it seems to stop at the same point every single time. That's really the main concern. I start heading down, I hit 133.8, and bam! I level off or go back up, week after week. It's just weird. But like I said, I'm not changing anything, other than skipping the "free" meal to see if it makes any difference and I can head back down again. (I don't see myself as being "consumed" by it, though. I saw it on the scale, noted it in my records and here, and went on with my day as planned. I'm not dwelling on it and I'm not changing my behavior based on it, so how is that being consumed - or being not useful? The only thing I did was look for a pattern in my behavior that would explain why this is happening week after week, which strikes me as extremely useful.)

Meanwhile, I just ate my morning cup of blueberries and then realized I had forgotten to wash them this morning. Cross your fingers for me.

Ha. I'll definitely cross my fingers for ya, because I am a wee bit of a germaphobe! :-) But considering as kids we ate anything anywhere even when we were all grubby and gross, and we survived, I am thinking that much of our cleaning neuroses are probably not entirely well-founded. That said, I have to struggle not to scrub the heck out of my apples! :-)

Totally didn't mean anything by "consumed," just chose that word for lack of a better one. I just know that every day you post the weight (which is totally cool, and yes, we both agree on that article you included here about being totally conscious of where we are with weight and body and eating), but you just generally have an emotional response (albeit a brief one that ends by the end of that sentence!) to what looks like a very tiny change in the weight. I didn't realize you had a history of a "wall" at this weight, and trying to break through it is a goal, so I understand that. I do think, however, that our bodies find a weight that they like and really try to take a "stand" to not go below that weight. Maybe this is that number for you. Or maybe not, just a thought! :-)

Anyway, it wasn't meant with judgement, I just wanted to remind you of something you already knew, which is that even if YOU control every aspect of your life, your body will still do whatever it wants in the end! Fun, right? ha

Enjoy the blueberries. I've been freezing them and then throwing them in my hot oatmeal for added flavor. Yum!

Ciao!

I eat 'em in my yogurt, and then usually eat the rest all by themselves. I love this time of year because of all the good fruits. I'm not a big fan of apples (except when they're slathered with peanut butter) or the other winter fruits.

And yeah, it's always a brief emotional response. It's not like it ruins my day or anything, but it's a momentary disappointment. I've been lower than this before; just not very recently, and I'm not sure what it is. I won't accept that my body wants to be this weight. I'm in charge here, darn it!!

But what I saw when I looked back was that I got stuck here each time, and each time it was right before a free meal or some other factor that made me head back the wrong way. So I'm hoping if I don't have a free meal this weekend, I'll actually see the losses continue in a day or two.

And yeah, I don't think I'm gonna die from the unwashed berries. I'm more concerned it might resolve my sandbox issues too much the other way, if ya know what I mean. I'm really not interested in spending today or my weekend in the potty. Or losing weight THAT way.

Argh. So I ran into a friend in the hall, who said she's supposed to go to a movie tonight but might not, and if it falls through would I like to have dinner with her at an Italian restaurant she needs to review. So even though I've sworn to forgo my free meal and go to the gym tonight and everything, I heard my voice saying, "Sure."

So ... the gym isn't really a problem because I can stay longer when I'm there this weekend. And maybe the restaurant will actually have something relatively safe for me to eat (it will if it's a NICE Italian place and not just pasta and chicken Parmesan). Or maybe she'll end up going to the movie, after all, and I can proceed as planned.

But grrrrr. Why do I do this to myself? Other than that I have no other plans for the whole weekend and was feeling kind of bad about it.

Italian shouldn't be a problem, unless it's literally a pizzaria. When I've gone to Italian I've had steamed or grilled shrimp over a bed of spinach, or the same with chicken, and usually start with a house salad.

Oh, and back to the fruit thing. Aside from grapefruit, I can't think of a fruit that I do not just totally adore. Summer fruit, Winter fruit, there ain't a fruit that I'd turn down. But summer berries (cherries, raspberries, blackberries, etc) just scream to me! Fortunately, it seems my body has responded kindly to all this fruit and I haven't bounced back at all because of the sugars... (thank god a million times over for that!)

Good luck whatever you decide with the dinner, but don't lose your confidence, you've done L&Gs a million times at a million restaurants over the last 1-2 years, and you can do it again!

Have fun!

Yeah, I just usually have more control. I almost always go somewhere that has a menu online so I can check it out first and make sure it's OK. It's tough with Italian out here. A LOT of the places are the old checkered-tablecloth types with pasta and red sauce and garlic bread and not much else. This IS Texas, ya know; and Cowtown, not the big city. Veggies aren't a staple on ANY of the menus here. And grilled rather than breaded? Not so much.

I figure I'll shoot for normal, healthy stuff. If I can't do that, I'll try for low-fat. I just wish I'd known earlier, and I could have cut back on carbs the rest of the day. Ah, well. Thanks for the vote of confidence!

And I've never been a huge fruit lover, which is good since the sugar's not usually a good idea for me. I seem to do well with the berries, though. And an occasional peach or small helping of cherries.

YAY! She went to the movie, so I went to the gym and worked out. HARD. And then I was persistent but polite with the training people, and the manager agreed to train me tomorrow morning (because now that Luke was fired, they only have one trainer on Saturdays, and she's booked up; it just seems crazy to me to only have one person on a weekend).

So at least for tomorrow, my new trainer is Sean. Or Shawn, I'm not sure. When I meet with him tomorrow, we can figure out a more permanent solution.

I missed that the trainer you enjoyed is no longer employed at your gym. I'm glad it worked out that you did get to go workout as you wished and didn't have to deal with making a spur of the moment decision about what to eat at dinner. :)
