Well. Dallas guy may not have called last night, but he sought me out online today and IM'd me again. We agreed to talk tonight. And the prof was on there looking at my profile last night, apparently. Not sure what's up there; in fact, he had said his membership was expiring over the weekend. Whatever.

Don't know why I'm so popular all of a sudden. But I'm not complaining. (I think it's the Mojo photo. Thanks again, Biki!!)

Awwwwwww budding romance. That is how "we" started. The first two weeks were constant emails back and forth. We didn't even get to IMs until 3-4 days after the first initial contact. I'm the type that will start to feel "shut up or put out" and I threw my number out at him - come to think of it I did the same with giving him my IM name. I think the 1st phone call was a week after and then I dragged him out to meet me the following week - I was like "Starbucks NOW". We had planned (at first jokinly) to meet but I couldn't wait the 2 weeks - wanted to see if we meshed or not. I've been known to tell guys "I'm not into wasting your time or mine" if things don't mesh.

Him looking for you is a GOOD sign. As far as the prof. goes my mantra fits ......"Replace - Don't Chase!"

Oh, yeah, I'm not pining for the professor. In retrospect, I'd just as soon he NOT call. The late-night thing just makes him seem old, and the deal about moving away from his kids and only seeing them a couple of times a year bothers me, too. Judgmental, maybe. But if you can't judge some guy you barely know, whom can you judge??

This new dude sounds nice, though. Fun, at least. Never married, so I'm sure he's probably pretty screwed up. But as someone said in a movie the other day, I'm just looking for someone whose baggage fits with mine.

lmao@your screwed up comment

I was a firm believer that if a guy was over 35 and never married - there HAD to be something wrong with him. I was usually correct in those I came across.

It's true. But I'm 45 and never married, so what does that say about me? Then again, I know I'm screwed up.

You really can't win because the other options are like my husband, a two time loser at marriage. The first one was annuled because of non-consummation. He knows what he's doing!

So true. At some point, either they're defective because they've always been single; they're defective because they're divorced; or they're widowers (and probably still hung up on their dead wife). At some point, you take what you can get.

I don't mind baggage, as long as we have a matching set. Heck, I'd be happy if he was just fun to hang out with. But I'm still going to the singles thing Saturday night. Solo. He says he loves Sunday brunch, so if our talk goes well, maybe we could do that. Daytime, safe, etc. The question will be do I make real plans for afterward (in case I don't like him), or just fake ones (in case I do).

The current boy is 36 and divorced (has been for like 6 years). No kids. I honestly don't think I could deal with a guy who had kids already. Too many issues for me. My problem is I refuse to date younger then self. And those my age are all getting out of marriages or divorced and don't want anything more then just "fun". This one knows what he wants and it has been nice so far.

Hummmmmmm real plans or fake. Part of me wants to say make real plans - just meet for brunch and part. Leave something for the next meet if there is one.

Yeah, I don't when I became so popular. Weird, huh?

Weight the same today, which kinda concludes my little experiment (I raised my calories a bit further to see if it sped up or slowed down my losses). So today I'm dropping the calories just a bit (I had gone all the way up to about 1500; I was losing slowly at 1400-1450; now I'm dropping just a small amount to about 1350 to see what happens).

Had a little trouble sleeping again last night, for some reason. And I've learned I have a LOT of trouble running if I have more than one or two bad nights. So instead I walked on a good incline (cycling up from 2 to 6). I think we're doing the Foreman abs tape today in the basement.

Not much else to report. Talked to the new guy last night. Seems nice; we had kind of a nice banter going. Short conversation, though - not that I mind that. We're going to talk later in the week to set up something this weekend, once our schedules are both firmed up. One thing: He watches news and PBS on TV and doesn't understand the appeal of reality shows. Him: "It's just a bunch of people embarrassing themselves in front of the world." Me: "That's the appeal! And they're doing it for money or fame or both."

Of course, this was after I had said I was watching "On the Lot," where no one was really embarrassing themselves. I didn't like the show as much at first, but last night it was just five of the contestants' short films (they're all directors), a few comments from the judges and a lot of filler from the host that I just skipped. But five independent shorts? Kinda cool, and not embarrassing at all. Now "Pirate Master," on the other hand ...

THE DUCKS WON THE STANLEY CUP!!!!!

At some point in the next few days I hope to have a photo of MY Teemu, wearing a Ducks jersey and posing with a replica of the Cup (they have a bunch in the sports department from when the Stars won).
