1. The hand thing is apparently totally just me. I looked this weekend, and they don't look all that weird or sausagey or anything.

2. Finally found a touch that DOESN'T bother me (well, I knew about it, I just hadn't thought of it). Got a lovely back scratch after the 5K.

3. Speaking of the 5K, ouch!!! The route was very hilly, but I still ran some and walked as fast I could the rest of the time. I'm still sore, two days later!! He was, too (and very understanding when I left him in the dust and finished 15 minutes before he did!).

4. All in all, though, it was a really good weekend, but really busy. Even he was exhausted by last night, and he's finally concluded that maybe we oughta plan a little less and take it a little easier. But we had a good time, even spending over an hour in the car each direction, going to this German festival (which was a bust, so we left pretty quickly and went to the pathetic outlet mall nearby, so he could get better walking shoes).

5. I did great on food the whole time except yesterday (and then it was mostly just way more salt and less water than usual, so I'm up today but should be fine in a day or so). As for exercise, yesterday was my day off. Today after two minutes of running, I deciding walking was a better choice, so I walked the 2 miles (with a higher incline, though). And I'll do the 2-mile tape this afternoon with my buddies.

6. Oh, and the family dinner was kind of a bust, too. His brother was out of town, his sister-in-law bailed along with their kids, so it was just me, him and his mom. Who seems nice, but a little strange. Then I met one niece briefly the next day, when we took her to get her cellphone fixed. Typical sullen teenager, I guess. Barely said two words (he said she was actually being nicer than usual, because we were doing her a favor).

No drop yet, but my food was on target yesterday, so I'm sure it's just a matter of time. I hope.

Nothing to report, other than that. Despite my aversion to going out on weeknights, I'm going to dinner tonight with JDG and some of his work friends because it's the birthday of one of the guy's wife (and they're my favorite of the couples, and I actuall REALLY like her, so I didn't want to miss it). Outback, so it'll be easy enough to eat healthy.

Have a good night out! Outback and 'healthy' - not the way I used to eat there! But is there a good L&G there? My husband loves that place but I've been so afraid to go out to eat while on plan....

I understand. If my husband were not British and didn't believe in not discussing feelings I could never have stayed married for almost 5 years. Thank God for British reserve.

Nothing much to report. I've dropped back down now that the salt is gone. We're supposed to be having ribs tomorrow night that he brought back from his trip to Cincinnati. I'm thinking I'll cut back during the day, and just have one or two to try (making up for it with some chicken breast and plenty of veggies). I saw the nutrition info on the package, and WOW. I want to wait till I've dropped some more before I even think about eating them again.

We're going with a low-key weekend, too, so I'm planning to eat pretty healthy for a change, which should help. And I'm going to talk to him again to emphasize that I expect his support in this, whether he thinks I need to lose anything or not. The other night when we went to the birthday dinner, he offered me cake three times. Sigh.

BTW, Nickie, sorry I didn't answer earlier. There are plenty of healthier options at Outback. If you visit their Web site, they even tell you what to ask for. But I'd go with a small steak (or a bigger one and just eat part of it) or chicken or fish, ask for it without butter or sauce, and get veggies on the side (no potato or rice, of course), again without butter.

I had tilapia with artichoke hearts and sundried tomatoes (remember, I'm on maintenance even though I'm trying to lose a couple of pounds right now) with a side of broccoli. And a salad, but again, maintenance.

Hi

Hi Robin,

Don't you hate it when the guys tell you that you're perfect now and try to tempt you with food? I have one of those now! You'll do what's right for you! You're one of the strongest people I "know"!

I eat at Outback all the time! Going there tonight! I get the pork chops (hold the apples!) and a second order of broccoli, take half home for the next night's L & G!

But, the Tilapia sounds GREAT! I might deviate from my norm!

Have a great low-key weekend wtih JDG!

It was really good, but it had a little sauce on it that you might want to get on the side. I figured they'd add fat to whatever I got, so I should start with the lowest-fat thing I could. Plus I love fish and have decided I don't eat it often enough (I've learned that in Texas, if you mention seafood, everyone thinks you mean fried catfish and fried oysters, so I don't suggest going for "seafood" or "fish" often anymore).

And I've talked to him about this before. It's funny, because he's diabetic and losing weight, too, so he should understand. And he almost does. I was away from the table when they served the cake, and he didn't get me a piece because he knew I wouldn't eat it. But then he kept offering me some of his (which he had no business having, either). Sigh. Doofus.

So DeDe, you're seeing someone now?? Is this new???

Hi

Postby dede4wd » May 3rd, 2007, 10:54 am

Thanks Robin, I'll remember to order the sauce on the side! I make it pretty clear at Outback I want EVERYTHING on the side...they kind of get the idea when I start howling and screeching at them to take the table bread away! LOL!

Talking about JDG and the cake kind of reminds me of something. This guy could stand to lose a FEW lbs and he kind of feels guilty if he has something naughty when I'm being good and I think he tries to make me have the sweet because then he'll feel better about the fact that HE'S having it? Make sense? But...it's nice to hear someone tell me I'm beautiful as I am, even though I accuse him daily of having a massive head-injury!

I may be starting something up with someone that can handle my schedule...too soon to tell! We'll see!

That's great, DeDe!! And it's true. I'm guessing that was part of the deal with JDG, too. He took a piece of cake and knew he shouldn't eat it. So he had a bite and kept encouraging ME to have it. I didn't touch it, though. First of all, it was supermarket-bakery cake and I figure if I'm going to indulge, it's got to be something really worth it. And second, no indulging till I'm down a couple more pounds. Except a bite of Teemu's birthday cake this weekend, but it'll actually be pretty healthy. The recipe calls for whole wheat flour, bananas and a tiny bit of honey. And nonfat cream cheese for the frosting.

My baby boy has been with me four whole years, as of this weekend. (I call it his birthday, but it's his adoption day. He's really more like 4 1/2.) Meanwhile, I'm hoping the OTHER Teemu will give him a nice birthday present and win tonight, so we can move on to the next round. GO, DUCKS!!

Ha. I wouldn't go quite THAT far. I'm sure it was tasty enough, from what everyone else said. But it's not special. If I'm going to indulge in dessert, I want it to be to-die-for good. Or ice cream.

Speaking of which, can I just take a moment here to pay tribute to the greatest maintenance invention ever - the sugar-free Popsicle, Creamsicle and Fudgesicle combo pack? I am in heaven with these things right now. (Although yesterday I stayed home because I wasn't feeling so good, and I ended up having one of EACH. Still, I felt like I was cheating up a storm, and all I had was 70 calories.)

Ooooh - we losers are allowed a SF popsicle as a snack but I bet the creamsicle/fudgsicle is off limits. Rats. Good to know it's out there for maintenance though!
