Huh. 130.2. The odd thing is the Tanita, which always shows me as about a pound and a half higher than the other scale, has me at 130.4. I'm wondering if the old scale is having trouble or needs a new battery or something. Curiouser and curiouser.

Anyway, today I get to go to the gym and meet with the trainer. I'm curious (but nervous) about the body-fat testing. I'm hoping it's the same as or lower than the Tanita reading (which has dropped about 2 percentage points, though).

Food will be virtually the same as the past few days:
Egg whites with peppers/onions, feta, tortillas
Medifast chili or RTD (depending on time and hunger) with berries
BFL bar
Salad with chicken, feta
Soy crisps
Pudding

OK, this time I'm serious. I canNOT spend any more money for a while. First the clothes, then the treadmill, and now I signed up for personal training. I met with the one guy today and did a short workout, and I meet with the real trainer on Saturday.

Body fat was a few points higher than what Tanita says. They of course say theirs is very accurate, but I don't think either reading is all that trustworthy.

129.2.

Food is basically the same. Talk about a creature of habit.

Yay. After seeing the treadmills at the new gym, which have fans built in, I checked the one I ordered and it has one, too. I'm so pleased! Although I hope it's adjustable. The ones at the gym blow onto my forehead and can't be adjusted lower. Sigh.

Oh, and I'm definitely going to try to lose some more poundage. I think it's necessary to get my body fat where I want it, because there's no way I can gain THAT much muscle. I'm going to stay with my current plan and current level of calories, though, since I think I can probably keep losing this way, especially with the higher-quality, more focused workouts. I think I'm shooting for 120. Maybe even less. I'll just keep going with fat loss and muscle building till I hit 20% fat. On either the Tanita or the gym's gadget (which showed me a little higher than the Tanita).

I still can't bring myself to say what the gym said my fat percentage was. But I've dropped 3 or 4 percentage points on the Tanita since I bought it July 30.

Will it help if we all tell?
My Tanita says 34%. Holy Crap!! I'm a sow. LOL

When I initially purchased this satanic device, my sister jumped on it first and it read 48%, and her 14-year-old son who is a wrestler and swimmer and nothing but lean muscle started calling her "Half-fat." OMG, I thought I'd pee myself from laughing so hard...until I got on it and it was not that much better. It is a little better now, but not much.

BTW, you're studio pics are amazing!! I don't know why you're so hard on yourself about your face. Are you kidding? You are loverly. Just loverly!! Truly. You know how you have trouble seeing yourself as thin? I think you have the same issue when it comes to your looks. You really do have a kind, sweet, and very attractive face. Really! And now - in your size 4's, you're the total package! You hot thang, you!

Revel in all your glory, girl!

Thank you! I still don't see it, but thank you, anyway. :)

OK. My Tanita has me at around 28 percent, which isn't so bad. But the gym put me at 32%, which is discouraging after all this time. The guy was saying I could build muscle and get down to 20 percent (my goal) without losing any weight, but that would mean gaining about 14 pounds of muscle. Which is ridiculous (even if I COULD do it, I can't imagine how I'd look with 14 more pounds of muscle on my little 5-foot-2 body). So I clearly need to lose close to 10 pounds more.

On the other hand, I hit an all-time low today, and I think if I stay with my current Body for Life plan and just don't increase my calories for a while, I might actually be able to do it. I'm going to stay below 1,000 calories for a while longer and see how it goes with the treadmill (which is supposed to come next week!!!) and the gym.

129.2 again. I was hoping to break into 128, but no such luck. It's my second night with hardly any sleep, though, so that may be part of it. I don't know what's up with the sleeping.

Food today is much like yesterday. I'm kind of glad now that I ran out of spinach for my breakfasts, since bagged spinach has been linked to an E. coli outbreak in eight or nine states. Yikes. Although I cook mine, which is supposed to help.

OK, two friends who go to different branches of the same gym said they pay the same per session but only see their trainer once a month. That option wasn't even offered to me. So I checked my contract, and I have until the end of Monday to cancel.

So. I'm going to type up a letter tonight and bring it with me tomorrow to my session (and I'll get there early for this). I figure I'll tell them I want to cancel my contract, and either I get the same deal my friends have or I just forget it and work out on my own (or find a trainer elsewhere, like, oh, and THEIR gym; it's farther away, but I can make it there once a month).

And just in case, I'll bring my BFL workout with me. So if they end up just canceling everything, I'll have a workout plan ready to go.

And I'm not changing my ticker, even though I want to lose a few more pounds. I figure I lost all I plan to lose with Medifast, so the rest is gravy. Low-fat, low-carb, calorie-restricted gravy.

14# of muscle would look great. it would give you curves in the right places and lean out others. it would also speed up your metabolism, and you would probably be about 1-2 sizes smaller at the same weight. people think muscle = bulk, but it's far from it. you would have to add a good 25+ of muscle before you look anything other than "toned."

But I already HAVE some muscle. I just don't think adding that much muscle is realistic at my size and age. A pound of muscle is a LOT; adding 14 pounds is a WHOLE lot. I had a friend who was a bodybuilder; even she had trouble adding that much, and she was still far bulkier than I would ever want to be. Plus she was maybe 6 inches taller, and had a bigger frame. People who've known me my whole life are still shocked when they see me now, because you can see how tiny my bones are (heck, I'm in a size 4-6 with around 30% body fat; I'm obviously pretty darn small inside).

I think it's more realistic - and it'll be faster - if I lose some more fat while I'm adding muscle, and aim for adding 6-8 pounds of muscle while losing 6-8 pounds of fat.

I definitely think losing more weight is doable. I've lost 2 pounds just in the past week or so, since I leveled off my calories at 900-950. Heck, that's better than I did when I was still on the plan.

In any case, I'm very proud of myself. I went to the gym and explained the situation. The trainers at first said they couldn't do just once a month. I said fine, then I'd like to cancel the whole thing. They got the guy I'd signed up with, who I guess is in charge of sales or something. He said sure, we can do that but the opening special is over so it'll be a little more per session. I said that's fine, and they canceled the old contract and wrote up a new one. Yay, me, because I'm usually really, really bad about standing up for myself. (I probably should have fought for the initial per-session price, too, but oh, well.)

So then I warmed up on the treadmill and met with the trainer, Kendra, who seemed very nice. She did measurements and we did some of the machines, basically to test my strength and endurance, which she said was pretty good in most areas. I even did crunches, which shocked me!

So I'm supposed to go back Friday afternoon before Rosh Hashana starts (the only time we could both do it) and she said she'd have a workout all laid out for me. Basically, I'll do it on my own until I see her again in a month (but she said to just come by if I have any qyestions and she'd make the time to help me between clients). So I'm really jazzed. She was also impressed with my weight loss, and was asking about Medifast but didn't say anything against it. Which is good, because I was ready for an argument. (And speaking of too bulky and muscular, her arms were WAY bigger than I'd ever want. Blech.)

I'm not sure why I even bother weighing after free day, but 131.0.

Food back to normal today.

130.6, dropping down from my free day.

Food virtually the same, except I'm having shrimp on my salad instead of chicken (not in the mood to COOK the chicken) and adding a low-fat string cheese to one of my snacks because shrimp has fewer calories than chicken.

Ugh. I'm so hungry tonight, and I have no idea why. I had my BFL bar half an hour early because I couldn't take it. But I just finished it and I'm still hungry.

I'm going to try to wait half an hour or so. If I'm still hungry, I guess I should just eat something else.
