Hey Robin, random email guy escalated from strange behavior to slightly creepy behavior, in my book. I didn't realize that he's never asked you out at all, what the ?! I don't blame you for feeling a little indifferent towards his communication, it's definitely not clear !

I hate to be rude, but I think if he e-mails again, I'm just going to ignore it. It's just too odd.

Meanwhile, I've been to two pretty good meetups now. Didn't make any new friends so far, but met some nice people. And both were volunteer things, so I also helped people, which was cool. I helped give a Halloween party at a shelter for abused women and their kids last weekend, and this weekend I went with a group that visits a nursing home every month. They visit with residents and have a big bingo party, with treats and prizes and stuff.

I'd like to do the shelter thing again, but it's about an hour from my house each way, and the events are only a couple of hours long, so I'm not crazy about that. But I'm definitely going to do the nursing home thing again. They usually go to "dinner" afterward, but it ends about 3:30, so I wasn't ready to go eat. Next time I'll move my meals and snacks around so that I can go with them.

Yeah, my six months were up, so just renewed it, too. Since I'm still not quite as low as I'd like to be (lower than I was when I went off Medifast, though, so technically "below goal").

Nice to see you back here, no matter the circumstances.

Hey, y'all! I just wanted to pop in and wish everyone a happy holiday season.

Things here are fine. I'm up about 2 pounds since before Thanksgiving (to 125), but I'm cracking down and should be fine soon. I'm also progressing - finally! - on my running. I ran a 2-mile race a couple of weeks ago and only walked about half a block (and then, only because it was 30 degrees out and I was dressed completely inappropriately for the cold, plus apparently I have exercise-induced asthma and it was WAY too cold for me to breathe well). Anyway, now I'm running 3 or more miles with no walking on the treadmill, and I'm scheduled to do a 5K race in a few weeks - and hoping to run the whole way.

I hope everyone here is doing well!!

Thanks, T. It looks I'm coming nowhere close to OKSooner, but I'm hoping I'll get even better after I see my doc Monday and most likely get an inhaler. Nice to finally have figured out what's behind the chest pain I get sometimes.

And too funny. The guy I was talking about in October, who e-mailed me randomly every couple of months? E-mailed me a few days ago.

Congrats on the exercise progress! It feels so good to know that your body is getting stronger! Sorry about the asthma, that sucks big time and I know it must frustrate you to not be able to do as much as you know you are capable of.

Hey, kiddo. Just checking in. A half is SO impressive. I'm still the world's crappiest runner, and the universe seems to be conspiring to keep me that way. Finally made progress and started doing some runs outside on the weekends. Then the Sunday after Christmas I went out and injured my leg (but still ran 2.6 without walking, which was huge for me). But the injury kept me out of a Jan. 1 race (when I thought I'd finally be able to run the whole 5K). Tried another one last Saturday, and it was a disaster (severe back pain, leg acting up, asthma problems with no help from the inhaler, etc.). Worst finish I've had in over a year. (The good news is my weight is fine. I'm somewhere around 123-125 right now, still intent on getting to 120 or lower even if it takes the rest of my life.)

I'm hoping to do the 5K at the Cowtown Marathon next month, though, if my leg is better. I want to do one or more a month till the Zoo Run. And then the big one I'd love to do is the 5K that's part of the Disneyland Marathon in September (the weekend of my birthday, so it'd be perfect). But first I need to get myself healthy again. If it's not better by Friday, I'm calling the doc.

Hope everyone else is well!

It is so good to see an update from you! I'm sorry to read about your pain and the problems when you've tried to do your races. I hope you are able to get to do the others coming up.

I am so impressed at how well you have maintained your weight loss. I am sorry to hear about all your health problems. I know you will get over them and be back in top form for your races! When and where is the Zoo Run? It sounds fun. We are doing a 15K this weekend as a long run for our training for the half, I am not going to be able to run the whole thing, but I will try. I have abandoned the idea of a marathon, it is just isn't in me to do that. The half is hard and I graciously agreed to do another half in February with a friend (I must have taken drugs or something that day when I agreed). My goal now is to do a 5K under 30 and then jog an entire 10k in under 60, so those are reasonable and attainable. Let me know about the Zoo Run though!

The Zoo Run is at the Fort Worth Zoo. In April sometime, I believe. I do it pretty much every year, except once when it conflicted with Passover. You start in the zoo, then run through the surrounding neighborhoods and finish back at the zoo. And you get a free zoo ticket (for another time; you don't need to use it that day).

I'm trying to just completely rest the leg/hip/whatever this week. It's killing me to not work out (and it means I don't get to eat much), but I'm hoping the rest will fix it up. I tried to rest it when it first happened, but I only lasted two days and then started to work out again as soon as it started to feel better. I think that was probably a mistake, and I should rest it a couple of days AFTER it feels better. So I skipped the workout yesterday and today, and will also skip tomorrow and Friday. But if it's not better Friday, I'm calling the doc. If it is, I'll try a walk and a run this weekend (and if it acts up again, I'll call the doc Monday).

At least it's warmed up. I will NOT be doing anymore outdoor running when it's 17 degrees.
