No typo - you are a fiend!! An exercise fiend, that is. Can I ask a question? I posted this in the Gymnasium thread but didn't get an answer - is it better to do more reps with lighter weight, or fewer reps with as much weight as you can handle? My goal is not huge muscles (which I know girls can't get anyway without a lot of effort) but just toning. I'm thinking I should do more with less, but want a second opinion.

I hope you get to go out and do something fun this week - seems like it's been a little while since you wrote about any plans to go out with friends. Have a great day (and I hope whatever annoyed you at work gets straightened out, too).

Hey, all. Thanks for the compliments, Chy. I AM seeing a waist emerge, but I still have that darn lower belly issue. Sigh. Can't seem to get rid of it no matter what I do, but I'm starting to make peace with it a little.

Nickie, I'd actually vote for fewer reps and higher weight. I never saw much benefit from doing a billion reps with a light weight, whereas my progress with heavier weights was pretty darn fast. Not to mention how much less time it takes, plus I felt like I was really challenging myself. (But don't go so heavy that you hurt yourself, of course.)

Thanks for the advice! I would have gone the other direction. But it's nice to know that I've actually been doing it right way for the last 4 weeks. I went with lower weight higher reps today, but I'll increase the weights tomorrow. :D

Hey, I have a thin person question for you. I thought of it after reading about the cold issue in Katie's journal.

My mom has this theory that thin people are more active in part because it's not as comfortable for them to sit all the time without as much cush in the tush, so to speak. Is that true? She thinks a bonier butt makes it feel better to be vertical than horizonal or something like that. I've always been curious about it. What's your experience?

Sorry, just saw it. And I have no idea. :) I've always been kinda squirmy, mostly because I tend to sit on my leg until it falls asleep.

It definitely hurts more these days to sit in regular chairs or airplane seats or whatever, because my butt gets really sore. But I have no problem lying around on the couch for hours watching TV ...

I guess I'll have to wait and form my own opinion on that issue. Good to know my couch potato status is not in imminent danger, though.

Ha. Yeah, I can still spend an entire weekend day in the house, and most of it on the couch. Go figure.

Got in my hour on the treadmill today. Ran a minute longer in the beginning, plus a couple of extra intervals. I'm not where I was a year ago, but at least I'm making progress. But those 6 mph intervals aren't all that tough anymore, even though the 8 mph one is still a killer. I may need to speed up a little more on the others, though. Either that, or make 'em longer. I'm not sure which would be better, but I'm leaning toward speed.

8 mph. Holy Cow. Jillian from the BL would be very impressed. Did you watch last night? Or did you tape it?

I watched. That show is the reason I went back to intervals AND added the 8 mph sprint (which might not be a sprint for some, but it's crazy-fast for me). Because Dan, a few weeks ago, had her turn it up to 7.5. I figured if he could go that fast at his weight, then even though I'm 30 years older, I could darn well do it at mine. So my regular running is 5 mph, my 1-minute intervals are 6 mph, and at the end of my last interval I tack on a 30-second sprint at 8 mph. And hope my chest doesn't explode. :)

And yep, I watched this morning during my workout. Spoilers ahead ...

I feel bad for Carla, but I'm glad Joelle is gone. That woman needs some major counseling. And I had to wonder what kind of friendship they had BEFORE the show. I suspect they weren't all that close. And Sione's loss while he was at home? Amazing.

I know... I feel bad for carla. She worked her but off. And sione I LOVE. I do not like the models though. And that aubrey chick. She worked out 5 hours a day for 30 days and only lost 2 pounds YEAH right.

But I am very impressed with you. Girl you are rocking it
