Ha. I'm trying not to think that, because we ARE friends. She's starting to worry about regaining the weight, though. Wants to join a gym she can't afford. I keep trying to tell her the gym will help, but she HAS to watch her food intake. Sigh.

Meanwhile, I'm down 2 of those hateful 4 pounds I gained for no reason. So yay for that, at least. 127.6. Hopefully I'll be back down to 125-ish soon. And then lower. (And I pinned the number there. It crinkles too much when I'm running if I pin it higher, and I can't reach my back (plus it's easier for the photo people if the number's on the front). Still no race photos from them, though.

Oh, and a friend in my office who works with the cardiology folks gave me the name of someone to e-mail about the whole heart rate thing. So I e-mailed this morning and hopefully he'll answer soon. I just explained about the family history and how high my HR goes when I exercise, and asked if I should be concerned.

Sigh. So he said it may be nothing, but he wants me to come in anyway to get checked out. Appointment's Jan. 9. (And of course NOW my chest hurts. But I think it's heartburn or something. Or fear. Ha.)

He did say to go ahead and keep running in the meantime, though, and not to freak out.

Well at least you don't have to stop running or worry right now. That is funny how your chest hurts - these phantom pains always spring up when we're worried about something. It's like how my head instantly itches whenever I hear that one of the kids at school was sent home with lice - even though I've never ever gotten them and use hand sanitizer a lot at work. The brain is really powerful!

It's so true. My aunt was complaining the other day because she's having lots of heart palpitations, and the doc said her mitral valve prolapse is more pronounced, and so now she's freaking out about every little ache or pain. She said she knows she's doing it but can't stop, and it's making her nuts.

But yeah, I figure I'll stick to my regular workouts for now, but just not do any races for the time being. Because I'm much better about watching my heart rate when I'm on the treadmill and not letting it get quite so out of hand. That 212 was high even for ME.

Hi Robin...congrats on the race...great job beating your time from last year....great job period for running it. Most people, including myself, have never run a race since we were kids.

We have the Wii and I am sure you will love it. We do not have Wii Fit or any other fitness ones.....but I have done the bowling and then couldn't walk very well for a couple of days...LOL!! We also have Dance Dance Revolution that will kick your butt. The kids love the games.

I hope all is right with your HR and that it definitely is nothing to be concerned with. I know that can be scary because about 12 years ago they finally found out why my heart would take off racing to upwards of 270 beats per minute. Boy I hated it when my heart did that...something I was born with. I had what is know as a heart ablation where they went in and severed an extra electical pathway to my heart. I no longer deal with those issues but still at times get skipped heart beat.

Keep up the good work!!

Just checking in. Nothing to report, really. Had kind of an off week last as far as exercise, but got up this morning feeling back to normal and did my full hour on the treadmill. No hills, though.

Glad to hear that you are getting back to your normal self. I resemble the being off though...two days in a row up 2 pounds for me....really puts you in an off mode....I know it's just water, and all will be fine..but it rots how much that scale can dictate my mood.

Still nothing to say. Weight's hovering in the same place. Workouts have been on target all week. And I talked to the head dietitian from the program I'm on, and she's working with me to see if we can get things moving. She has me alternating high- and low-calorie days plus tracking everything again. At the same time, I'm moving some foods around to see if that makes a difference (I get home so late and go to bed so early that my last two meals - dinner and dessert - end up being an 45 minutes or an hour apart, which isn't ideal).

You are so dedicated. I'd be tempted to call it 'good enough' I bet. Maybe that attitude of mine will change somewhere along the way here. I hope the dietician can get your weight moving in a way that makes you happy. At least the workouts are going well now? No more pains or anything?

Thanks, Nickie. The thing is, I DID declare it "good enough" when I was on Medifast. This time I want to see it all the way through, if I can.

The good news is I was back to 126.6 today, so just a pound over my low a month ago; it looks like this may work, after all. I'm crossing my fingers and holding my breath. :)

Workouts have involved a lot more walking than running lately. I had a teeny bit of chest pain again yesterday, which concerned me a little bit. I don't know if now I'm just more alert to it and noticing every little ache or what. Anyway, new plan is to do an hour on the day AFTER my high-calorie day (walking with hills) and just half an hour on the day after my low-cal days (but with some running, since it's such a short workout).

And I already hate the low-cal days. Sigh. Right now I'm alternating between about 1,100 and 1,400 or 1,450. Oddly enough, my weight's been lower on the days after my HIGH-calorie days. So I'll keep going a little longer and see if the pattern continues, then talk to the dietitian again.

Oh, and HAPPY HANUKKAH to anyone still left on here who celebrates it (besides me).

Oh, and the vp in our office gave us all boxes of chocolates this morning. I'm obviously not going to touch it, but I'm not even sure who I can give it to since I won't really be seeing anyone outside the office this week. Guess I can hang onto it for a while, but I'd rather not. I'm in a good place right now, but I'm still going to be home and on my own with no plans for four days in a row. Maybe I'll leave them at work till next week.

Smart idea to leave them at work.

Interesting about the high calorie/low calorie days and how your weight reacts. Wouldn't it be awesome if you were finally in a place where your body demanded MORE calories instead of less?

I kinda think I've been there for a long time already; it's one reason I went off Medifast and decided not to go back on it. But it's scary to increase calories like that, so maybe the low/high thing is what I need to prepare myself for the idea of just eating more. Then again, maybe it's the LOW-calorie days that are helping right now. Hard to say, so I'm just going to continue alternating right now rather than start experimenting.

And of course, today I was up half a pound. But yesterday was a low-cal day, so I was expecting it. Today's a high-cal day, so yay for that. Although I was adding everything up, and I'm a bit low, so I may need to add a little something somewhere along the way.

Hey, Rob! I still celebrate Hanukkah, and I'm still around (not as regularly as before, but every bit as much committed!)! Happy Hanukkah to you, too!

I'm in Aruba right now, so definitely not spending much time here right now, but will try to come back soon.

Glad all is well, and hope the nutritionist's plan of action, in conjunction with your watching the ebb and flow, will result in a happy scale reading!

Cheers,

Lauren

Sigh. Still up half a pound from the other day. Don't know why. Today's supposed to be a low-cal day again, but we were offered lunch at the Faculty Club and I've decided to go. They have salad, they have veggies, they have fish. So I can be good, if not perfect.

Oooh, and tomorrow I have ... a date. He's Jewish, too, so we're going for the traditional Chinese meal and a movie. Met him online (of course; I never meet anyone in person, maybe because I never go anywhere), he's an optometrist. Divorced - twice. Once after a brief marriage when he was young, but the second was more recent and after 14 years of marriage and 16 years together. Which makes me think this isn't gonna go anywhere, but I can at least meet him. Seemed nice on the phone, although he talked a little too much about his money. I'm chalking that up to him just being a guy and trying to impress me, at least for now.

And hi, Lauren!! Enjoy Aruba!
