Happy Birthday, Rob, and have a most fabulous trip!

I'll do my best to be here a wee bit more often this weekend (although I'll be at the beach house with a million ppl, so that could be tough), since you won't be around to hold fort! :-)

Have fun!

Got a minute, so I thought I'd check in. I didn't have the treadmill checked. I used it the next day and it was fine, so I'm just going to ignore it as a fluke. The iron's definitely doing the trick, too. I'm back to normal workouts, although still not running quite as long (but not because I can't; the other day I only had half an hour before I had to get ready to leave for the airport, so I ran half and walked half, and then the first day at the hotel, I had only gotten three hours of sleep so I decided to walk).

Been doing great on food, even out here, so I'm happy about that.

Thanks, guys. I had a really nice time. We stayed away from the convention crowds till Friday, then took light rail into downtown to see what souvenirs/swag we could find. Things were pretty cleaned up already, so we bought some buttons and shirts and stuff (um, and a Barack Obama action figure), and then my friend at the Post brought me some swag from the newsroom.

Had dinner out to celebrate my bday early, and I even indulged in a few bites of dessert. But worked out every day, even travel days (so that I could take today off). Can't trust my weight after flying, but I think I'm down a little. I was, according to the hotel scale, at least. Today I'm supposed to have lunch out, but I already warned the person bringing cake tomorrow (for me and someone else, whose bday is tomorrow) that I won't be having any. (She asked what flavor I'd like, and I suggested something mocha because I hate coffee.)

LOL! Good thinking on the mocha cake!

I'm so glad you had such a great trip and birthday! You are so faithful to keep up with the exercise and keep watching your weight - even on a holiday. Thank you for setting such a great example for me to follow!

How are your puppies? Where did they stay while you were gone? Actually - do you have 1 or 2? I bet they were happy to have you home. :)

Two, Teemu and Mojo. They stay at my house, with a pet sitter who lives there while I'm gone. So they had a good time and lots of attention, but they were still pretty happy to have me home last night. Thankfully, they didn't kill anything while I was away, either. Yay, dogs!

And yeah, I pretty much won't stay anywhere without a gym anymore. And I try to keep to the same schedule as much as possible, so I still get up early and hit the gym every morning. Helps me stay on track the rest of the day AND I think gives me more energy to have fun and gallivant and whatever. The place I stay even has a fridge and microwave in each room, so I can have my fruit and whatever else I need, and then most of the other meals I had my normal diet stuff at my cousin's house. I had a couple of meals out, but not many, and I tried to be as good as I could when we were out. Except for the taste of the birthday dessert.

The one thing I did differently was I don't normally work out on days when I have to go to the airport, because my flights are usually so early. But I booked 'em a wee bit later this time, and then just did a shorter workout on those days.

As for the actual birthday ... it's just OK, since I'm at work (it's today). A couple of people took me out for lunch, which was nice, and I was still pretty good. We're having cake tomorrow, and I promised to show up and help cut it, but I already warned the person bringing it not to be insulted that I wasn't going to have any.

And then I'm going to dinner again this weekend, but I figure that's so far after the fact that I can just eat a normal, healthy dinner and not use my birthday as an excuse.

Happy Birthday!

I love their names! I wanted to name Dobby Mojo. How did you get "Two"?

LMAO. No, I meant I have two dogs, named Teemu and Mojo. Hee.

And thanks, T! I went totally crazy last night and instead of my normal dessert (one of the ones on my plan), I had a Vitatop. Do I know how to live it up or what??

Ha! That's too funny! I think the blonde hair dye is starting to leak in...

Good job on staying the course through all your b-day celebrations! :D

Yeah, I just got back from the office celebration, where I had to say no to cake about 15 times. Yes, I know it was my birthday, but no, I really don't want cake.

It's so frustrating when folks keep offering foods. I know they're trying to share and to be sure my needs are met. But sometimes when I have to keep saying no over and over I end up feeling so rude. And I don't always want to tell everyone that I'm on a diet, 'cause it brings focus and attention to it. I need to think up some new creative responses to repeated "no's" that sound friendly but don't bring focus to my diet.

I know. The first person just assumed I don't really like cake, but of course someone else had to correct her and explain that I'm on a diet. Even though I didn't really eat cake even in maintenance, unless it was an especially good cake. But marble sheet cake from a supermarket? Never worth it, in my book.

Just stopping by to check in. Down to 130.0 (my Medifast goal), so yay for that! Still struggling a bit with exercise, and still not sure why.

Got an MRI for my shoulder scheduled for Friday, too.
