130.4, with a bit of a sandbox issue and some sore muscles. Only my upper body, though, so I'm going to do Tae Bo Flex or Tae Bo Cardio today and give my arms somewhat of a break.

Today's food plan:
Oatmeal
RTD
Off-plan soy crisps with string cheese
Salad with low-fat feta and chicken breast
South Beach bar
Pudding
Maybe a Popsicle at some point

Total: 923 calories, 46% protein, 32% carbs, 22% fat

131.4. Don't know what's up with that, but I'm not going to worry about it. (What happened to that 129, though???) The good news is I lost another half inch or so from my waist and maybe a quarter of an inch from that lower ab area.

Today's workout is Ramp It Up, although one arm/shoulder is still a little sore from the resistance bands.

Food:
Oatmeal
Soy chips w/salsa
RTD
Salad with low-fat feta and chicken
Soy crisps
RTD
Pudding

Total: 930 calories, 53% protein, 29% carbs, 18% fat

Ugh. Do "normal" people have fat days? I'm having one of those days where I just feel huge again. Everything looks big, and I'm starting to think about losing more poundage. Sigh. I've been arguing with myself all day about it. Part of me knows I'm doing fine and I need to just give the exercise more time to work. But part of me just wants the quick fix of dieting, even though it's never quick for me, either.

Grrrr. And it doesn't help that these stupid new Levi's don't fit all that well (why do I continue to buy "relaxed fit" when I KNOW my thighs are too small for it???).

Blech. I can't wait till tomorrow, when I can get to Denver and bask in the compliments for a week.

I see...
you feel huge because your thighs are too small...got it.
Wha????

LOL

Have a wonderful trip, and remember--just say "thank you" to the compliments, don't try to qualify them!

I know, it makes no sense. But I feel huge today, truly. Huge and flabby and miserable, and I know it's stupid but I can't help it.

I absolutely refuse to say anything negative while I'm there, though, because I really don't want to take a chance that my 12-year-old cousin will hear it. I know she's going to ask about the dieting and why I'm still watching everything I eat, etc. I plan to explain that I'm still learning to eat a healthful diet, and that I'm trying to do things to make myself healthier (like eating right and exercising) and NOT to make myself thinner.

But it's going to be hard if I still feel this way tomorrow. I've resolved to only pack clothes that make me feel good about myself, though. Nothing I'm even a little bit iffy about. (So these jeans are staying home. They don't fit in the thigh, and I swear they make my whole middle look wider for some reason. I think it's just a weird fit.) Unfortunately, that also means I'm leaving my black gauchos home because they're too loose. But that leaves me with nothing to wear if we go somewhere nice, so I may need to make an emergency trip to Kohl's or Dress Barn or something while I'm there.

OTOH, they fit just fine at the end of June. So even though I've only lost a few pounds since then, the exercise is obviously working. I keep trying to tell myself that during the argument, but I won't listen.

Thank goodness for this journal. I do keep records at home, too, but this is so much more complete.

I looked back, and it was June 17 that I went to the outlets, and I went to Kohl's about the same time. I'm only 6 pounds lower than I was then, and yet most of what I bought back then is too big now. And everything I was WEARING then is in the donation pile now.

So I'll shut up now. The workouts are obviously working, even if the progress is slow. I think I should measure less often and just keep trying those size 4 Levi's every couple of weeks (although apparently even when they fit, I'm not going to actually LIKE them; but when they do fit, I think I'll be ordering some custom-made ones).

Yipes. Haven't had a chance to check in since I got here. So much for running stuff through FitDay every day, too. The good news is I've been doing just fine. I've worked out every morning (well, I've only been here TWO mornings, but still). Today I even bumped myself up to the Burn It Up workout. It kicked my butt, but I did all of it till the floor crunches.

Everyone's been saying how tiny I am. But my cousin and aunt both now understand why I want to be a 4 and agree that it's not an unreasonable goal at all, given the size of my frame. My basic food each day has been:

Oatmeal
Off-plan soy crisps
Body For Life bar
Q-Smart bar (or today I had another BFL bar because I think I needed the extra calories)
Dinner of chicken breast and veggies
Soy chips or bar
Pudding

Not ideal (a few too many bars), but not bad. Tomorrow night is going to be my once-a-week "cheat," as dictated by BFL. I decided to do it tomorrow on my little cousin's birthday instead of later on to celebrate my own birthday because a) her restaurant choice is a pasta place with basically nothing else, and b) this gives me a full week before I have my second off-plan meal, on my actual birthday. So my cousin suggested we go to a really good steak place (Del Frisco's or Morton's) for my celebration with the family, since I can have something resembling a lean and green there.

Anyway, I don't have much time because we're still doing party prep for the big mall scavenger hunt, but I wanted to check in. Hope everyone's doing well.

OK, I have a few minutes before I have to go help with the big party. Things are going well. I did Burn It Up again this morning. Two hours and a shower later, and I think my face is STILL flushed. Yow.

Last night was the "family party" for the birthday. I saw my cousin's in-laws, who I haven't seen since February (or some maybe a year ago). All of 'em commented and were very complimentary. And better than just commenting on the weight loss, they all were saying stuff like, "You look like you've been spending a lot of time in the gym." Which was awesome, considering they're all tiny and athletic.

Ooh, and when we picked up my uncle at the airport yesterday morning, he said if I hadn't walked up to him, he would have walked right past me without recognizing me. This is the man who's like a second father to me!!

As for my BFL "free" meal, it was carb-heavy since it was a place that had almost nothing but pasta on the menu. But other than that, I did fine. The garlic bread that I was so looking forward to was too greasy, so I barely ate any. The pasta was bland, so I didn't have much of that. I did have a couple of slices of sourdough bread, and that was good. But two slices and I was done. And the dessert was spumoni, but mine was all strawberry and no pistachio, so I didn't have it. And then at the house, I skipped the cake and ice cream and just had a sugar-free Popsicle (little tip: those Lifesavors Popsicles? blech). Then later I wasn't hungry, so I just had a Q-Smart bar as my fifth meal and didn't bother with a sixth.

I'm feeling a little bloated today, which I expected because of the sudden influx of carbs. But I'm going to pound down the water and get rid of as much as I can, since tomorrow I see a friend I haven't seen since February. And we're going shopping, so I don't want to be bloated at all if I can help it.

Biggest problem right now is I REALLY miss my scale and I hate not being able to see how the extra calories and change in nutritional ratios are affecting me. I'm SUCH a scale whore. (I'm actually going to see if the little hotel gym has a scale before I go back up to get ready for the scavenger hunt.)

Take care, everyone. I hope you're all doing well, and I'm sorry I've had so little time to be online. I haven't read ANYone's journals in days. Sigh. But I promise I'll catch up when I get home.

Shoot, I'm glad you reminded me!! OK, I'll be semi-dressed up (welllll, jeans, but a nicer top) tomorrow night for dinner. So I'll find the batteries for my camera and have Carol take a few pictures.

But she and my aunt confirmed that my goal of dropping one more size is not at all unreasonable, now that they see how small my build really is once you take off a bunch of fat. So I'm continuing with my plan for now, and after a few days at home I'm going to weigh and measure and evaluate how I'm doing. I did jump on Carol's scale yesterday, but it was hard to judge since it's a different scale plus it was midday and I was fully clothed (shoes and everything).

I got more compliments yesterday, though. One of the moms, whom I've known for years, came to drop off her kid and her jaw ended up dropping, too. She wanted to know what I've been doing. There wasn't much time to talk, but I'll tell Carol to give her my number or e-mail address if she really wants more information.

The great jeans search is freaking me out a bit. All the ones I tried today were way too low-rise, BUT pretty much all the 6s were kind of loose. I think I'm halfway to a 4 already.

I'm not going to TRY to go any smaller, but I kind of wonder if all the exercise will eventually put me in a 2. Which is just inconceivable to me.

Ooh, and for my birthday Carol is giving me a Glamour Shots session. I need to find clothes to wear; they said to bring two or three outfits (casual, dressy, etc.). So I'll have her take something of me tonight (we're also going to Sing Sing after dinner, just the two of us; very cool) but those will be my official "after" photos.

And yesterday was awesome. Did I mention we went BOWLING? I haven't bowled in almost 20 years, and I was always horrible at it. I'm still bad, but I actually hit a spare. And some other pins. My high score was 69 (shut up!!). Considering my previous high score was around 20, I'm pretty darn proud. And we had a blast. It was late enough that there weren't many other people around to mock me.
