Thanks, guys.

Bummer of a morning. I tried to run. I really did. I got up there, I felt great, I got started ... and then I had to go to the bathroom. Bad. So I hopped off and went. Got back on, started running again ... and had some kind of allergy attack, couldn't stop sneezing and had to stop again. And by then, I was way behind AND still had some packing and stuff to do before I left the house, so I just gave up. Sigh. I'm going to still do PUSH this afternoon, and I'm thinking I MIGHT try for a short run, or at least a walk, at the hotel if it's not TOO late. Although that probably won't happen. So I'll just have to make sure to be extra good about workouts all weekend.

Sorry to hear you had a crappy work out situation.

Use the airport to get some good walking in, that's what I do on crazy travel days, the stairs (instead of moving walkways and ramps), walking back and forth bw gates, all good stuff. Hey, every bit helps, right?

Enjoy!

Yeah, I probably won't have much time on this end, but Denver's ALWAYS a long walk and I never take the moving walkways. And I'm on Frontier, so I can even skip the train and walk from the terminal to passenger pickup (a nice, long hallway).

And since I didn't bring lunch today because of the trip (kind of a mixed bag on this one), it'll be a decent walk to the bbq place down the street. I think they have turkey, so I can be relatively good. ... I just checked. Smoked turkey and green beans, it is. Woo hoo!

Finally back, and exhausted. Did OK on food, and great on exercise (cardio, at least) while I was gone. No real weigh-in till I've been back a few days, though.

No workout yesterday morning because the shuttle was picking me up at 6 a.m. None this morning, either, because I was just too exhausted and dehydrated to even think about it. I'm planning to do either PUSH or Callanetics this afternoon, though (probably Callanetics; I'm not sure I have the energy for Bob today).

Welcome Back! Hope you had a good trip and a great holiday weekend!

I was reading articles on the web this weekend about losing belly fat, and I was surprised that several of them mentioned Callanetics as a great way to target deep abdominal fat. Let us know what you think of it!

I skipped the afternoon workout yesterday. I think I'm just going to plan on taking an extra day off from exercise whenever I travel (heck, I do it the whole time I'm gone, so one day when I get back won't kill me). Today I ran, although only for 15 minutes out of the 60. I'm going to try for 25 tomorrow. And this afternoon I'm going to do Callanetics. Hopefully our weekly staff meeting won't go too long.

Did the full Callanetics workout. I'm reserving judgment for a few weeks, to see if I see any change. The actual exercises are ... weird. And the tape is boring as all get-out, except when she says "Now we're going to do the very exciting pelvic circles," or something like that.

Well, duh, Rob.
Pelvic circles are always exciting, right?

Seriously, though ~ about this Callanetics stuff... I'm intrigued.
What's it like for your back? Is it low impact? Is it aerobic, or more akin to yoga?
Oh, wait. I think you said it was isometric - so, more like yoga or tai chi?
I'm liking the thought of being able to rid my deep abdominals of some fat! (LOL, Diana!)

It's really difficult for me to effectively work this area because of my back issues.
Is this something I can modify to accommodate my physical restrictions?
Can I ask MORE questions??
In case you haven't guessed, I'm anxiously awaiting your review!

As always ~ I'm seriously impressed by your studliness!

Not sure about Robin's workouts, but I have found that working with a "StayBall" has been beneficial to my back issues. I had surgery on L5/S1 a couple of years ago after a horse jumped out from under me (another story for another time! ) My lower back seems to hurt all the time and I was having problems even at the gym with several machines and other manuevers to work the lower portion of my abs. I found the ball really adds stability to my back while I work on those ab muscles.

Okay - back to Dogma's regularly schedualed programming.....

Callan Pinckney (or maybe Pinkney?), the woman who developed the program, actually developed it BECAUSE she had severe back problems. She also gives instructions for modifying the exercises if you have back or neck (or other) problems. It's VERY slow and controlled, not at all aerobic.

I actually thought I could see a slight difference in a few spots today, but I decided that's impossible and I'm imagining things. I AM a little sore, though.

Cardio this morning was short and almost all walking. I woke up EXTREMELY tired (and the alarm woke me up, which never happens) and feeling very hot even though the house was cool, so I decided to take it easy even though I really was hoping to run again today.

You'll never know how bizarre that still is to me.

And ugh. Ate too much (and too wrong) at lunch today. I ended up going to the Faculty Club with my bosses for a mini-evaluation. Normally I just avoid that place these days, because I know I don't do well there, but I didn't really have much choice.

The good news is that apparently they're thrilled with me and want to give me more work/projects/responsibility. And basically make me a backup to my boss (who's in charge of all the editors in the office).
