I know. It's a good kind of pain. My whole body's feeling it today, actually (and if it's like two weeks ago, it'll be worse tomorrow; every time I have to start a new workout, I swear that man's trying to kill me).

The good news is I was demonstrating the three moves I was struggling with (for a co-worker), and I was actually able to DO them. So I think I just need to get used to them, and I have some hope that in two weeks I'll have mastered this one and be ready for my next one. Even if it does mean I'm one step closer to saying goodbye to Bob (but it's OK, cause he's too mean to be my boyfriend anymore).

Ooh, and I'm doing another MEETup thing, or did I already mention that? It's a different group this time. They're meeting for brunch at my favorite salad bar place (Sweet Tomatoes), and it's right near my house and right by my beloved Costco. So I'm gonna go.

What??? You didn't go back and read all three years' worth of journal? Slacker!

Some of 'em end up being singles things, but really it's just groups of people who organize outings online. Some of 'em are couples, some singles, some a mixture. Most just people looking to meet people and make new friends. A couple of weeks ago, I went and met some people at the local Scottish Festival. It was close by, so I figured I'd go and see what they were like, and just leave if I didn't enjoy it. I ended up staying till the thing closed, but then they decided to go to dinner and I had to get home to take care of my dogs and get ready for the week, so I bailed. Nice people, though, and I had a really nice day (although they were a bit too into beer for me).

This group is supposed to be people who are new, or relatively new, in town. Looks like so far five or six people have said they're going. All women (the Scottish fest was a couple of men and maybe four women). It's kind of a cool idea for people who live in a big city and have trouble meeting people, like me. At least, trouble meeting people I don't work with. I moved here almost three years ago, but I didn't know a soul when I got here, and now I pretty much just know people I've met through work.

That sounds really interesting. We recently moved and it's been very lonely, for me at least. Don't know anyone and it's hard to get to know folks. I thought having a family would make it easier, but I think it's harder!

Is it through yahoo?

They're independent sites, but apparently worldwide. Some cities are more active than others. Go to meetup dot com or meetin dot ORG. It's really a pretty cool idea. I wish I could go to more of their stuff.

Oops, forgot my morning post. Today was a day off from the treadmill, except I forgot and got up at my regular time instead of sleeping a little later. Oh, well.

And now it's almost time for PUSH. Took some ibuprofen earlier because my one arm is still bothering me. I must've pulled something over the weekend. Legs and butt are still sore, too, but not so much that I can't work out again. Unfortunately.

And now I've signed up for yet another event, a play next month. I even suggested we meet for dinner beforehand, and the organizer said she'll send out an e-mail when it gets closer.

Oh, and I got a summons for jury duty. In federal court, which I've never done before. I'm supposed to call every Monday and Friday afternoon for two weeks (more often if they tell me to), starting July 4.

Random...I know of a lot of people getting called up for jury duty lately!

Too bad you're not sore enough to skip out on your workout. ;) I hate to admit it, but sometimes I always like a good excuse to take a day off.

I think it's great that you're getting out and about, meeting new people. One of these days when my life slows down I hope to be able to broaden my circles a bit. I love trying new things and meeting new people! It sounds exciting.

I kinda HATE it, so I'm actually really proud of myself. I'm not much of a people person, and most of the time I'd rather just stay home with the dogs and watch TV. But that's not healthy, and I DO like having people to do stuff with, so this seems like a good solution. And I like that I can go to things that appeal to me and just skip the rest. Hopefully at some point I'll meet some folks I'd actually want to hang out with again (or who want to hang out with ME).

And yeah, I'm sore but I went ahead and did the workout. Kinda punked out on the last set of lunges (the ones where I have to jump up and switch legs; I got through maybe three and then couldn't keep going), but then I paused before the stretching, went back and did five more on each leg. I did all the three OTHER lunge sets, though. Even the ones with the kicks that just KILL me. Although I didn't go down as far as I should have because one quad was pretty darn sore. I did everything else, though, and now I'm worn out. Sometimes it's GOOD that I'm not too busy at work. :)

Course, now I'm hungry and I still have an hour and a half before my snack. Sigh. Water just doesn't seem like enough. And I'm sick of gum. Grumble grumble grumble.

:hugblue: Oh, Rob... I'm so sorry to hear that you and Bob will be breaking up soon!
You're so doggone picky, girl!! Your men are either too nice or too mean... what're you, Goldilocks??

I was recently called for jury duty, myself. I got through all of the questioning and then they released me. :x I love jury duty!! (I know, I'm some kinda' freak or something!) Everything about the courtroom process just fascinates me, but this is the second time this has happened. I'm sure it's because DH is a cop, but they don't actually say that. Figures that somebody who actually wants to serve on a jury gets released, huh? Federal jury sounds awesome ~ good luck!

Oh, I actually like the courtroom part. Hate the sitting around in a room all day, or calling every night to find out if you're going to HAVE to sit around in a room all day part.

I served on a jury once, and it was VERY cool. Just a car accident, but fascinating. I thought for sure I'd kicked off cause I worked at the paper, but they kept me. (And now that I'm a PR flak, no worries there.)

As for Bob, it's not MY fault we're breaking up. He's the one who didn't tape enough workouts. Or who trained me well enough that the PUSH folks say I've outgrown him. Men!

Aaaaaanyway, today was a treadmill day and it went very well. Walked 5 to warm up, even remembered to stretch a little, then ran 15 and walked the rest, and remembered to stretch again. Then went and comforted the dogs because we had a horrible storm. Bad enough that I didn't even think of leaving for work till it had mostly passed. The poor kids were both petrified.

Robin,

I just want to thank you for keeping your perspective on everything. You are definitely one to ask for advice. (even if you do have the whole grammar OCD ;) )

Ha. I get PAID for the grammar thing, so it's hard to turn it off sometimes (especially when certain people refer to themselves as ladies).

Thanks, though, Mike. I've been overweight most of my life, too (except as a small child and for a few years post-Atkins), so I've been there with most of the issues. And I've been fighting my way through maintenance for three years now, so I'm pretty well-versed on THOSE issues, too. It's not fair, and it's no picnic, but it sure is better than the alternative!

My cousin just commented to me today how amazed he was when I just casually mentioned an article I read in Runners' World. Hee. (Although, for the record, I was sent a free issue.)

Walking day today, and I cut it a wee bit short, but at least I did it. I have a PUSH date with Bob this afternoon.

Other than that, nothing to report. Weight's holding steady but not dropping at all, which is annoying. Calories are steady at 1,000-1,050 a day (and right on target with Body for Life ratios of 40 percent carb, 40 percent protein and 20 percent fat, which seems to be where I FEEL the best), so I don't really get it. But I've been sore a lot this week and it's been hot and humid, so maybe it's a water issue. Or even wacky hormones, even though I'm supposed to be past all that.
