Thanks, Chynna. I'm happy to say I haven't touched a Medifast product in probably a year (not that there's anything wrong with them; I just never cared for them). I don't want to deal with points or the Core program or any of that. I am roughly following the Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle food plan, although I've stopped tracking for now and am seeing how I do just by making good choices (and because I eat the same or similar things most days anyway). So far, so good.

And already, after one day without the salt-lick chili (and even with the fajitas, which I'm sure still had more sodium than I'm used to), my weight dropped back to normal and my ring is back to spinning around on my finger. Last night I made a new batch, and just used my regular seasoning mix.

Oh, and today was my day off as far as exercise. Blech. But I know it's good for me.

Robin, I was glad to read your update and all that you shared about your new mindset(s) about food, amounts and evaluating what and how much you want of what has been served/available at these different functions. You are doing great and I hope to be following in your footsteps--someday.

You'll be here soon, missy -- or else!! (Although it took me a year and a half more to get to this point, and I'm still working on it. But between Thanksgiving and these parties, I've done pretty well.)

131, so I've dropped back quite nicely after giving up on the salty chili. (Of course, even though I'll do everything exactly right today, tomorrow I'll probably bounce up a pound or two. Stupid body!)

the extra bright side is...at least you won't ever bounce to what you USED to be!

Very true. And I'm bouncing just about a pound right now, except for the salt incident. I go down to maybe 130.8, then up to 132.

But I'm still hopeful that I'll drop lower. I've been making better choices lately. Not tracking so much, but also eating out less (or not going crazy when I DO eat out).

130.2, which gives me a whole lot of incentive to keep doing what I've been doing. Except I'll need to do my workout later today, as much as I hate to do that (but I'm going to FORCE myself to do it, no matter what). Cable guy coming this morning, and I didn't want to get up too early because I was up very late with the dogs (lots of thunder). In fact, THIS is earlier than I really want to be up.

Congrats on the drop! I need to get out there and exercise too but am waiting because I need to pick up a prescription and don't want to make two trips.

Sigh. 130.6, although I guess it's not really enough to even count as a bounce. I did make myself walk yesterday evening, though, and this morning I ran intervals. (But talk about my inner couch potato being alive and kicking. It was SUCH a mental struggle to get myself on that treadmill so late in the day. Apparenly my ICP is still working the night shift.)

Decided to kind of hibernate today. I made my dinner for the week last night (chicken breast, mushrooms, artichoke hearts and sun-dried tomatoes in kind of a wine-garlic sauce in the slow cooker; very low in calories, fat and carbs, but mighty tasty), so today I made my turkey chili for the week's lunches, plus my fritattas. Then decided to go all "holiday" and made glazed nuts for the features department (I made some two weeks ago that I gave out in individual containers to my copy-desk colleagues, and everyone loved 'em - including me, a little too much) and some cookies that I had promised a friend at work. I'm just now going to shower and go out because I need eggs (or really, egg whites) to make another batch of pecans, for the features page designers.

I showed plenty of restraint, though. I had a quarter of a pecan to make sure they were done, and one half-size cookie for the same reason. And everything's already been packed away to bring to work, so I'm not touching any more of it. I get a snack soon, anyway, and then I get my yummy chicken for dinner again and a nice cup of cocoa for dessert. I'm so pleased things seem to be working right now, because I'm REALLY happy with my food/exercise these days.

Robin, congrats on being in a good place and doing so well cooking for others without indulging too much yourself! Both are huge things to be proud of!!

Thanks, OWTO. I'm really glad I had that one cookie yesterday, actually; they looked SO good this morning, but I had already sampled them, so I just toted them into the office and left them out for everyone else. Same with the nuts (although I did end up having more than just that one little piece; I think I had three pecan halves, all told, which is fine).

Anyway, 130.4 today with my usual sandbox ... I can't even call it an issue. Pattern, maybe. Or delay. Ha.

This was a walking day. I walked a little longer than normal (a full hour instead of 50 minutes) and stayed well within my target heart-rate range, so my monitor was happy (unlike my running days, when it tends to yell at me).

Thanks, Chynna. If I had more time, I could go even longer. But I already get up way too early as it is, plus the show I was watching on TiVo ended a few minutes before I was done and the remote was across the room. (And yes, I'm fine with walking for an hour or more, but too lazy to walk across the room to get the remote. That inner couch potato is alive and well.)

Chynna

Just let it come naturally. I started off with thirty minutes and can do two hours now, although I usually only do an hour. A few weeks ago I walked 6 miles with my husband. Too much too soon can actually have detrimental effects. Earlier on in my MF program I walked 3 hours in Hong Kong and GAINED weight the next day. Probably just my injured muscles returning fluid. You were a faithful journal reader of my trip so you may remember that!
