I'm getting better at this maintenance thing all the time. Today was our big holiday lunch at work (fajitas are traditional here). At first I was just going to eat my turkey chili, but I'm not very fond of this week's batch, which tastes like a salt lick. So I decided to go with the fajitas instead and test my restraint. And I passed!
I had two tortillas, one with a small amount of chicken fajitas (maybe an ounce or two) and the other with veggies (summer squash, zucchini and portobello mushrooms). Topped 'em with lettuce and salsa and a small amount of guacamole (healthy fat; maybe one tablespoon's worth). Skipped the cheese and sour cream and all that stuff, as well as the beef fajitas. No beans, one bite of rice just to taste it. And from a big tray of desserts, I took half of one chocolate thing - then took a tiny bite of it and decided it was too sweet, so I trashed it and had a 100-cal pack of cookies instead.
I'm pretty impressed with myself lately, I have to say. At the holiday PARTY that we had last week, I checked everything out but decided there just wasn't anything on there that I would feel comfortable eating (except some fruit, but I really didn't feel like fruit, so I skipped that, too). I just hung out and schmoozed while other people ate.
And then when I went with a friend last Friday to review a restaurant (Italian and Greek food), my entire indulgence consisted of one piece of garlic bread (I LOVE garlic bread, so having just one piece was a HUGE success for me) and half a piece of baklava (which I didn't especially want, but she had to try it for the review, and wanted me to taste it because of my Greekness; so I agreed to half, which was basically just one bite).
Weight's been up since Monday, but I figure that's the salt-lick chili talking (since my ring suddenly got tight, too, which is a sure sign for me). I'm thinking of tossing the rest and making a new batch tonight with my usual spice mix instead of this new one I used.
