Hope you aren't in too much pain. I hate dental pain. I forgot to wear my retainers for a few days and am paying for it today. It feels like an elephant is stepping on my front teeth.

I'm petrified of dentists, so the fact that I've seen this guy three times is HUGE for me (and not just for cleanings, since this time I had to get a cracked filling replaced). Thankfully, they agreed to nitrous oxide, which made a world of difference. And when he found out how much happier I was when his puppy was there (who is now too big and rambunctious for the office; she's Mojo's age and also a Lab, so I understand), he said that next time he'll bring one of the dogs in for me. Yay!

Surprisingly (at least to me), I'm actually OK. I took a couple of ibuprofen when the numbness started to wear off, but so far I've been able to eat normally. Although I'm going to skip my planned apple and have a 100-calorie pack instead because I think the apple might be pushing it. I don't know what I was thinking when I packed it. Maybe that I would chicken out and not GO to the dentist?

132.4. I can only assume it was some extra salt yesterday, since I ate pretty much what I always eat.

Treadmill this morning. I'm having to work my way back up, after cutting back last week because of my toe. Ran/jogged 25 minutes, walked the rest. Toe felt fine when I started, but was hurting afterward, so apparently I still need to be careful (so no tape today, and I'll walk tomorrow).

Food will be the usual today. Tomorrow I'm supposed to go out for Middle Eastern food for dinner, so I'm going to try to cut back a little earlier in the day. I won't go crazy at the restaurant, but I'm also not going to just have chicken and veggies (or I might as well just eat at home). I also have tickets to a hockey game this weekend, and I'm not sure HOW that is going to work. My friend and I talked about having dinner somewhere beforehand, so we could eat healthier, but her boyfriend (who is also going) doesn't seem to want to do that. So I may have to bring some bars and stuff and just deal with it. (Although honestly, I'm wishing we hadn't gotten the tickets. He also wants to take the train there, which for me means driving half an hour in the wrong direction to do it. I'm getting a little tired of our outings ALWAYS including him lately. Last weekend's brunch, when I was taking her for her birthday, also wound up including him. She didn't even ask me if it was OK.)

So much for THAT plan. My one friend got her dates mixed up, so now we're having dinner tonight instead of tomorrow. So much for planning the rest of the day's food around dinner. Sigh. Oh, well.

But the good news is my other friend and her bf agreed to come to my house and go to the game from there (I told 'em I'd drive to the game if they'd drive to me). And we're going to have dinner near the arena. So yay for that, at least.

Still here. Ran intervals this morning instead of just keeping a steady pace. Toe is still swollen and painful, and hamstring is still sore, too.

I'm thinking about quitting my gym, since I haven't been going lately, and going back to working out at home, which seemed to work better for me. I think with a few tapes/DVDs, my resistance bands and free weights, and my bench (plus all the workouts in the magazines I've been getting), I could do well on my own. Heck, Prevention just did a study to compare resistance bands, free weights and I think machines, and found that the people who used the bands improved more and faster than the others. Mostly because they were more consistent about working out.

I'm sick of spending the money every month and either doing something I don't enjoy or skipping it and feeling guilty about NOT doing something I don't enjoy.

I read the article about the resistance bands, and am thinking about trying them out!
Sure a lot more convenient and cheaper...!
'course I'll still do water aerobics or walking tapes.
Sorry about your aching toe and hamstring.

Well, yeah, I'll still be running. It would just be instead of weights. Or instead of weights at the gym. I think I'm just more likely to work out when I can do it at home. And I figure I have bands and resistance tubing and all that stuff already.

132.0. Went to the game Saturday. We were supposed to go to dinner before, but they got to my house half an hour later and every restaurant near the arena had a long wait, so we wound up eating at the game. And American Airlines Center doesn't have much in the way of food, at least not where we were sitting. So yeah, I had some fries. Then yesterday I don't know what happened, but I was just dying for bananas and ate THREE of them. Whatever, I'm up a half a pound but I'm sure it'll be gone again soon.

Oh, and never made it to the track or even running down the street. Got up too late both days. But maybe it's just as well, since my toe is STILL hurting. Tried the Asics again, too, and walked 4 miles on the treadmill. By the time I finished, I couldn't even step on the balls of my feet. I'm giving up on those things. Worst sneakers I've ever worn. I don't care what they say about Nike Shox, they work for ME.

Oh, you were right by where I used to live on McKinney Ave. I also did some of the mass hiring for ushers and cashiers for the arena. It was so weird. First you would interview the person and if you liked them you would go to the back room and do a background check. One guy had just gotten out of jail for MURDER. I sure can pick'em! I had 1.5 bananas yesterday myself.

I tried to be a one banana woman at breakfast slicing my banana for my shredded wheat but then half the banana fell on the floor. Great portion control method.

Hee. That works. Usually I have a couple of slices of frozen bananas in my protein shake (either that or frozen berries). But there was just something about 'em yesterday. They were small bananas, but still. Although if that's what qualifies as a "binge" these days for me, I'm OK with that.

Nightmare day at work today, so I don't think I can catch up on things on the boards like I wanted to. We have one on vacation and two out sick, which leaves four people in the whole department. Ugh.

I love nuking frozen berries, draining them and adding them to FF plain yogurt with some Splenda.

I've found very few yogurts that I can stand to eat, although right now I'm OK with a sugar-free (and fat-free) "coconut cream pie" flavored one. I can't stand frozen berries, though, except mixed up into my morning shake. I had fresh ones as much as I could during the summer while they were in season.

Right now I'm into apples (and umm, apparently bananas ). I wish I liked pears more, because my pear tree is full of 'em. I tasted one the other day because my neighbor asked about 'em, and it was actually good, even though it wouldn't soften at all. I'm just not a fan, except for the Royal Rivieras from Harry and David's. (But I'm all about the apples lately. Sometimes two a day, and I've even opted to have an apple instead of my Fudgsicles. Funny, because I've never liked 'em much before, unless I was using them to hold my peanut butter or dipping 'em in caramel sauce.)

Don't think I mentioned, I'm also walking more lately instead of running. It's easier on my broken toe, and I think it might even be helping my hamstring. And to top it off, I think my pulse may be too high when I run so that I'm not in the optimum fat-burning zone. So I'm going to try a three-day rotation of walking, running and walking/running intervals.
