Yeah, that's on my list tomorrow. These things are falling off me. And no more relaxed fit for me, apparently. Yeesh. I keep thinking my thighs are huge, but they're swimming in these things.

I really need to work on body image, I think. I'm beginning to suspect that I can't be nearly as fat as I think I am.

Hi Robin,

You are incredible! I just can't get into a regular exercise routine. I have been swimming every day, but I need to get on my treadmill and get moving. Any advice on starting a program or regular routine?

Thanks!

Not really. I've always had trouble with it in the past. Usually I'll stick with something for a couple of weeks and then give it up - especially cardio-type stuff. I was better about lifting weights, I think because I like it more.

But I actually like this Tae Bo stuff, even more than the weights. The punching still feels strange to me - I don't think I've ever punched anything in my life. But I LOVE the standing-abs work and especially the kicking!! And there's something about Billy Blanks that just makes me feel better about myself.

Plus it helps that since I started doing it regularly, I've seen some pretty quick progress on my midsection. It's kind of like Medifast to me; I had a hard time on the program at first, but I saw results so quickly, I was able to stick with it. It seems to be improving my self-image somewhat, too. I feel so strong when I do it, and I suspect that feeling might be what I'm so addicted to.

Let me know what you think. He's not for everyone, from what I can tell, but there's something about him I really like. (Just make sure it's not his faith-based workout.)

His counting is never right, and Shellie (his stepdaughter) has to remind him to work both sides of the body evenly (and she only does this in the later videos, so the early ones are uneven). And parts of it just make me laugh. Like when he talks directly to you, the viewer. ("Make sure your leg's not too straight. Keep the knee bent. That's better. Now you've got it!" Uh, Billy? You can't see me.) And he does this little twist move with his lower body that cracks me up (or open, for Jo) because it looks so odd on such a musclebound guy. But I love it anyway. I find him very encouraging for some reason. And he doesn't do a lot of combinations, so his workouts are easy to follow.

132.6. Body fat MIGHT have dropped a tiny bit, but the Tanita fluctuates an awful lot.

So the 5-1 doesn't seem to be working for me at all. I'm going back to the 6-1 with one of those being the off-plan soy crisps. Which, again, I don't recommend to anyone else. But I seeemed to do pretty well (for me, anyway) when I did this back in June.

Hmmm, halfway through the day and the scale says the same thing. That never happens to me.

And I know people are going to kill me pretty soon, but I'm in shock. I wanted a new pair of gauchos because mine are baggy. So ... I got a pair of capris from Gloria Vanderbilt in a 4; a pair of Levi's 550s (relaxed) in a 6 that are just a tad too big in the waist (so I got a pair of 4's for later); some house brand gauchos in a small; and a pair of Liz Claiborne jeans on clearance that are a 6 (and again, a bit big in the waist; I think it's because of the flab on the lower tummy). And the medium tops that were kinda tight last time now fit perfectly. My bra size seems to have dropped, too, but I'm waiting till the outlets for those. Apparently I'm down to a 34C from a 40 or so.

I think my next purchase needs to be a book on body image. Because I don't see a 4 OR a 6 in the mirror. I see someone smaller than when I started, but maybe a 10 at best.

Oh Robin~I think it is great that you are able to buy the small sizes. If I can find it I have a book on body image. My old Dr gave it to me back when I gained alot of weight on Pred. It is great! I will see if I can find it or at least the name. I can guarantee that I will need to reread it when I lose all my weight!

DogMa ~ I haven't read your thread in a while and I'm really tired just thinking about all the workouts you're doing. I'm practically sweating just thinking about it <grin>. BTW, you're doing great and I'm so proud of you!!!

Thanks, you guys. Reginia, I'd love the name of the book. I'm really starting to think I have a problem.

And Ark, I have NO idea what's gotten into me lately. I've always had trouble sticking to any kind of a workout, but I've been working out consistently for over a month now (since maybe mid-June?) and really HARD for about three weeks. I used to feel good AFTER working out, but these days I actually feel good while I'm doing it. Very bizarre.

Of course, getting my butt to the GYM is still a struggle. I've been doing everything at home except that one day.

131.4. Yes!! Clearly having the extra meal is the way to go for me. I might try doubling up once a day instead of eating seven times a day, though.

And I want to take a look at the Abs Diet book for maintenance. It's apparently similar to South Beach and Protein Power, and focuses on protein and building muscle to increase metabolism. Which is what I do - and plan to do - anyway. (And they allow I think a cheat a week, which was also part of my plan. So there ya go.)

Oh, and I'll post this is the original thread, but I think I found a body-image book. The psychologist on Celebrity Fit Club has one out.

Thanks, you guys. No more tampering with things for a while, I think. I'm sticking with my 6 and 1 and my workouts and just letting it happen. The body fat percentage seems to be dropping sloooowly, too, so that's good. I don't know if I could do all this without so many people cheering me on (and keeping tabs on me!!).

Oh, and today's workout: Tae Bo Abs plus some squats with heavier weights. And my goal this week is to get to the gym Wednesday for circuit training. And to do squats and push-ups every other day to build more muscle.
