It's the trainer I wasn't impressed with. And this time he didn't even show up!!!! So then a woman at the desk said she'd train me if I'd wait 10 minutes. I waited 15 and she still wasn't ready, and I couldn't wait any longer because of my other plans. So I asked for a contact number for their corporate office so I could complain (and because I'd like to cancel my contract and demand my money back, so I can go somewhere else). I was told there is no such number and the assitant manager would call me.

I went online and there's next to no contact information for this company (it's a big company, in all the L.A. Fitness gyms, so that's just crazy). I'm going to try to track down a number for them, and I'm also going to talk to the L.A. Fitness folks and tell them what's going on and that whatever happens with Body of Change, when my contract with them is up, I'm going to leave L.A. Fitness and join another gym because of this. Maybe if they get enough complaints they'll contract with a different training company.

And then I had to come home and work out on my own because I didn't have time to even do THAT at the gym. I'm so angry right now I can't stand it (but yay for me for not biting off my nose to spite my face, and working out anyway).

Off to get ready for the museum outing. I'm still not convinced I'll actually wear the tank tops (I was thinking layered tanks, maybe), but I HAVE stayed off the scale.

You're right, ROBIN! Even though I know I don't do as much exercise as you and LAUREN do (heaven help me!),
But I do feel dedicated to exercise (walking and weights) as a way to maintain, keeping me fit and healthy as possible.
Even more important as we grow older.
You're motivating us...

I have found that layered tanks make my arms look leaner and longer because there is more shoulder and bone exposed. I like the layers because that way the bottom tank can help control my belly and the second top tank looks smoother. I wear men's wife beater type tanks most of the time. Cheaper and snugger fit. I usually wear a white tank underneath and a black one on top.

Hi Robin,
Have you ever considered getting doggy insurance? A couple of years ago we had about $4000 in vet bills (a replaced hip & separate terminal emergency at the same time  ). Shortly thereafter, I bought pet insurance. It's quite reasonable, considering the alternatives. I've got a couple of four year old pound puppies with no preexisting conditions, the dogs' annual premimums are each $121 (petinsurancedotcom). That can save a TON of $$ on vet bills.
Thanks for the head's up on the book. I look forward to reading your thoughts when you've finished it.
Congrats on breaking that 133.8 barrier, it must feel so good!

I couldn't wait for your final reviews, so I up and ordered the book from our local book store...easier'n ordering it online.
Would like it if you reviewed it here for us as you read it. Sorta like giving you some homework,
Book should be here on July 26. Now the looooong wait!
Hey, AMBER, so glad to see you posting from time to time. Wish we could hear from you more often...Journal perhaps?

1. I've thought about pet insurance on and off. I hear mixed things, but I'm definitely going to look into it again.

2. I wore the tanks all day long - to the museum, to lunch, and to the mall. I even started really liking them after a while. Enough that I bought a few more on sale. Only a few, though, because I don't want it to become my new uniform. But I bought some great colors (my friend helped me figure out what colors would go together because I'm kind of awful at that). They made me feel ATHLETIC, which is what I'm shooting for these days. And actually, I even had a good hair day, so I felt like I looked really cool and pretty and healthy. So yay, me! This was all very new for me.

3. I'm SO glad I went shopping with a much younger, hipper friend. I was looking at dresses for the bat mitzvah, and she was great at making sure I didn't try on stuff I'd normally wear (her comments: "that's for people who want to HIDE their body" or "that's too old-lady"). I ended up really liking two dresses at Macy's - things I would never in a million years have even considered on my own. I bought both, and figure I'll keep the receipt in case I find something I like better. I also tried on a more formal dress just because it was gorgeous and, again, not something I would normally even think about trying. It was BEAUTIFUL, but I didn't buy it because a) I have nowhere to wear it and b) it's too expensive to buy just in case I ever HAVE somewhere to wear it. But I'm glad I tried it on. It was also bizarre to go into the dressing room and have everything fit and everything look pretty good - a couple of dresses weren't as nice as the others, but I didn't hate them or refuse to come out of the dressing room in them or anything like that, you know?

So all in all, a pretty great day. I came home feeling very good about myself and my body and just my general looks, which is very strange for me. And considering I didn't track my food and I ate out and everything, I think I did quite well. For our meal out, we ended up at a local-landmark-type taco place (the other choice was this new burger place run by a very famous chef, but I decided that if I went there, I'd want to try the fries and the milkshake of the day, because they're supposed to be amazing; so we agreed on this place instead because I knew they had veggies and grilled stuff, whereas the burger place has ... burgers). I decided I didn't need a combo meal with rice or anything, so I got two small soft tacos - one with garlic shredded beef and one with grilled veggies. No chips or anything.

Oh, and I also bought (I really have to stop shopping!!) two lipsticks that I'd intended to get, tinted moisturizer, which I've been thinking about getting, and some Bliss shower gel (because if I bought one more thing, I'd qualify for a very nice free purse with all kinds of samples in it.

Sounds like you had a great day!

Could you give the name of the book again? I scanned back through the last few pages of your journal but I didn't catch it. Thanks!

Robin, that sounds like a GREAT day. I came on and both you and Biki are in super-confidence mode - you're making me jealous! I guess I have to keep losing weight now - bummer. ;)

You bet!! Two hot chicks out on the town!

And it's Joining the Thin Club (to be released July 24). I was out all day so I haven't read much more of it, but based on what I've read so far (and my exercise today) I give it two paws up ('cause I'm DogMa, get it? I crack myself up!).

She also talks about how exercise gives you confidence and makes you feel more attractive and sexier, and I think that's true. The more I sweat when I'm working out, the stronger and more beautiful I feel. I really am starting to see myself as athletic, if not really an athlete.

I'm looking forward to wearing tank tops again tomorrow. Go figure.

Actually, it wasn't nearly so bad here. We have yet to hit 100. It's been a little more humid because of all the rain, but even that seems to be improving. It's funny, because I was commenting to my friend yesterday that the tank tops would have been better if it were hotter. As it was, I would have been comfortable in a T-shirt.

Anyway, I expected to be up again today because I lifted yesterday (although not at the gym, but I still pushed pretty hard) and because of the tacos. But ... 133.0. I'll do the treadmill today, and maybe some abs later on, but that's it. I was going to run instead of doing the incline, but I'm really not in the mood to work out at all, so I'll stick with the incline.

Another small yay, me today. I ran all my errands wearing tank tops again. And this time I wasn't self-conscious at all (it didn't hurt that some guy in Kroger totally turned around to check me out!!).
