I will try that. I think I tried that before but wasn't too committed and always had errands or a trip to the beauty supply store for hair stuff which ruined it for me. I have enough hair stuff so I can start asking my husband to pick up my meds so my walk isn't is long. Thanks for the advice.

DogMa wrote:Thanks, Donna. I'm not saying other people will gain if they exercise. I have an extremely finicky metabolism, which is why I spend so much time trying to find the right balance.

It also was definitely not because I was gaining muscle. It's actually pretty difficult and takes a lot of work to gain a pound of muscle. I would not discourage anyone from exercising if they can do it and still lose weight (but I would caution anyone against doing too much while on the program).

I know it takes a lot of work to gain the muscle but there is more water retention when exercising too. I'm probably leaning towards a few walks with my husband at the track sometimes and leaving the weights alone until I get closer to goal. I do enjoy working out with weights and when I used to do that I stayed away from the scale. You have come so far and I can't wait to be where your at; you should be very proud of yourself.

I would experiment, Donna, and just see what you can do while still losing weight. Most people do fine with regular exercise (nothing too strenuous, of course) while on the plan.

As for the fluctuation thing, I normally fluctuate some, too. But there was a steady progression this week up until today. I'm also not really maintaining right now; I'm working on LOSING some more (fat rather than pounds, but pounds go with that), albeit not on Medifast because of the calorie issues. It's not like I'm making some huge adjustment here; we're talking a difference of 50 calories a day right now. And as little sodium as I can manage with what I've got in the house right now (unfortunately, because of a planning goof, I'm having to resort to a frozen meal later today).

Today's tape is Tae Bo Abs, and I can't believe how excited I am. Twenty more minutes till it's time. Woo hoo!!

OTOH, I couldn't be LESS excited about going to the gym tonight. But I found my padlock AND I remembered to bring it and my workout plan with me. So I'm going to space out my meals this afternoon to make sure I eat something a little later than normal, so that I'm fully fueled when I get there.

Robin, I don't at all know what I'm talking about, so feel free to ignore the following.

If you are dreading going to the gym, maybe you shouldn't go. Maybe something is trying to tell you that it's too much.

By all means, if it's just some little lazy voice or something, go to the gym and kick butt. I just know that you're doing so much (although it might not seem like much to you, I realize) and maybe 3 workouts a day really is overkill. But I also know that your plan might call for this exactly. So feel free to ignore me, as I said.

Sometimes that little voice is a big fat liar, but sometimes it has good points.

Chynna: Girl, you just got out of the hospital!! Give it a few days!

Nickie: If it were up to my little voice, I'd spend all my time lying on the couch! It's definitely not something I can listen to. I'm supposed to lift weights two or three times a week, so I need to go today. There's no physical reason I don't want to go; I just don't like going, and I'd much rather go straight home after work to relax.

I'm supposed to do cardio every day while I'm trying to lose (less once I'm happy with my body fat and weight). But cardio on my plan is supposed to be 30-60 minutes, so I figure I'm just splitting that 60 minutes into two (most days; once or twice a week I do a little more when we do the longer afternoon workout, and then usually on weekends I only do one cardio workout).

Well, that wasn't so bad. And I didn't have to wait for any machines or benches or anything, so it went pretty fast since I knew exactly what I was supposed to be doing.

I think my weights were too low on a few things, though, so I'll need to bump 'em up next time. Unless I'm all sore and unable to move tomorrow. Which wouldn't be the first time.

But at least I went. So yay, me. The trainers were all gone, though, so I couldn't make an appointment. They owe me a TON of sessions because I haven't been there in so long.

Off to feed the dogs and then myself, and then veg out with my beloved TiVo for the rest of the night. Busy weekend this weekend: vet appointment, then some sort of Monty Python festival with a friend Saturday, plus a movie with friends Sunday (this part's tentative) and dinner with ANOTHER friend Sunday night. And somewhere in there I need to get groceries and do my weekend cooking and laundry and all that. Whew.

The best-laid plans ...

Thunderstorms, which means unless they stop, I can't get the dogs to the vet (Teemu's too afraid) and I'm guessing my friend won't want to drive up to Grapevine. The good news is I'll be able to get my errands done.

Meanwhile ... 133.8, down from 135.6 (!) on Monday. So apparently things are going pretty well. I already hit the treadmill for the morning. If it keeps storming and my plans get canceled, I'll probably do a tape later. There's one I'm supposed to be testing out for the group. Plus I didn't do abs or butt yesterday, so that'll be tonight.

Have a great day, everyone!

Yeah, it's just as well you don't listen to me - I've been giving very bad advice lately, to myself included.

133.8, even after having dinner out last night (kept it pretty much on plan, though; fajitas with extra veggies, a tiny bit of guacamole, and 2 tortillas).

Off to the treadmill (a little late today because of yet another thunderstorm, which had the dogs upset), and I'm hoping to do a tape later on. Delayed reaction from the gym, too: arms started to get sore last night. Nothing with the legs, though, so I think I need to increase the weight a bit there.

Happy Father's Day, everyone! (And Nickie, you'll get it figured out.)

Yay! I was taking all the meat off a rotisserie chicken (long story, but it's to sub for the sliced turkey I've been eating, in an attempt to cut down a little on the sodium) and was dying to have some of the skin. Then I decided no, but I'll have the two wings and legs as my "lunch." Then I thought no, I'll just have the wings and I'll save the dark meat for the dogs. But THEN, I thought no, I'm going out tonight for prime rib, which is already a lot more fat than I normally have and is supposed to be my one "free meal" for the week.

So the dark meat went into a separate container for the dogs, and the skin and wings went straight into the trash. And I figured I must have been tempted because I was hungry, so I had my normal lunch instead.

I'm also only going to have part of the meat at dinner, fill up on salad and veggies and part of the baked potato (because I can have some carbs, even though I'm not supposed to eat them at night; but it's a free meal, so I figure it's OK), and take the rest home for the dogs (they're eating very well this week!).

Robin, your willpower and self talk got you through a time where many would have kept arguing with themselves until they caved in and had whatever they wanted. I'm going to try to remember this post.....thank you for sharing it.
