Hey, I appreciate the effort. Vet dude never responded. Harumph.

And it was kinda silly. We had a story on pirate books for kids to read during the summer (some kind of library program). Summ-arrr reading (with a subhed: Ahoy, mateys! Set a course for the library, where a bounty of books about pirates awaits ye.).

Because really, you can't have enough talk-like-a-pirate headlines, if you ask me.

But he had e-mailed me from work, so I knew that he worked there and could have him checked out by other people who work there.

Well guys in bars always give you their business cards, so you can Google them and their companies and check them out through your network of friends. I know the JCC in Dallas has plenty of opportunities to meet other singles. One great way is just to work out there. Are you that far away?

It's about an hour from my house, without traffic. Add in Dallas traffic, and it's more like two.

I went to one Jewish singles thing in Dallas - a seder, with my brother. Even HE was horrified by the guy who glommed onto me (and later asked me out). Plus if I meet someone in Dallas, chances are good he's going to live there. Or even farther away. So those guys aren't exactly geographically desirable (and I'm sure they'd feel the same about me).

Thing is, I'm pretty happy being single. Especially when I see the guys who are out there. Or even the guys some of my friends have married.

And Sojo, it's marked on my calend-arrrrrr every year. Heh.

Up a bit today, for whatever reason. Maybe the mini-binge the other night. I'm also not feeling so great, but I'm going to drag myself to work. Oh, and today's death toll: two baby birds, although I don't think she actually killed them. I suspect she just found them. But she brought them in the house, which was lovely.

Also got another e-mail from JDG about the guy in the hospital, which I'm ignoring.

And YAY, DUCKS!!!! What an exciting game, although mostly because they almost blew it in the third quarter. I'd have preferred less excitement and an easy win, personally.

Great game....:)

I absolutely was. When I wasn't covering my eyes. Sigh.

And I don't know HOW long it'll take, Biki. I'm just glad so far it's just been brief e-mails (and no more begging). I'm giving it one more day on the tickets before I e-mail him about that. Because once I get the tickets, I'm completely done. Sigh.

Woooooooo hooo Ducks!

I stepped away for a quarter and was shocked at how Detroit had made a comeback.

Just a suggestion, if the one more email about the tickets doesn't get a response - don't count on those tickets. Once again he could be using those to string you along. I see him doing it already with the emails about the friend. Good for you for ignoring. He knows you are a caring and compassionate person and is hoping it is those qualities that he can use to lure you back in - it has worked before so why not now KWIM. For some any contact is better then none.

Though no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.

Yeah, but then I'd have to stop payment on the check and all that. I figure one e-mail asking if he received the check and telling him to please send the tickets, and I'll just see what he says. If he wants to do anything but e-mail them, I'll have him bring them to my work and leave them with the security guard.

I don't think he won't give them to me. But I do think he might use them as an excuse to try to see me.

He uses a P.O. box, so he might just not check it every day.

I'm very very proud of your Ducks!

Let us know how the ticket thing turns out. Sorry about being up, but I wouldn't worry about it if I were you, you've had a heckuva week!

Thanks, DeDe. But I really need to start dropping a few pounds. I'd love to be down one more size by the bat mitzvah in late August. Or at least back to where I was at my lowest. Sigh.

I haven't really been eating any more the past week, although I haven't been working out quite as much. And I was doing more uphill walking instead of running intervals, so maybe that's a problem. Today I alternated running and walking one minute at a time for 30 minutes (plus five minutes warm-up and a couple of minutes of cool-down). And then we have the 3-mile tape this afternoon.

Meanwhile, the prof sounds kind of interesting. He's from India, the Calcutta area. Civil engineer (head of the department, actually). Born and raised Jewish. He says there used to be a pretty large Jewish population there, but a lot of people left during (or just after) World War II because they were afraid. His family stayed, though. His mom and sister are still there; his brother lives in Austin and is also an engineer.
