Well, I'm feeling less guilty. The more I think about it, the more I think this second guy is something of a loon, so I doubt I'll see him more than this once.

And I think tonight, to avoid the baked goods (and to make up for this morning), I'm going to hit the treadmill while stuff is in the oven. Or cooling, whichever.

Hi, Robin ! Sounds like you are doing wonderfully :). I need to start counting my own calories, but for some reason that scares me ... LOL. Anyway, you will get it figured out about these couple of pounds. Just keep doing what you are doing, adjusting as you go.

As far as JDG2, I think it's interesting that you feel a little guilty. I mean, it's just interesting to observe in yourself. You know ? If you are realizing that you don't feel like you are "on the market" the same way anymore, and that you want that, too, then I think that's some pretty useful information for yourself. However, I also think it would be equally as interesting to go ahead and go on a date with another man and just see how you feel during that time. You may find that you completely forget about JDG1, or you may find that you are constantly comparing JDG2 to JDG1. You can always make more decisions based on the information you get during/after your experience(s). You are perfectly permitted to learn with this, too, as you go !

Cheers to you !

Thanks, Karli. It's not so much that I feel like I'm not on the market anymore, but that I don't think HE thinks I am. I think he sees more of a commitment here than I do, and I don't want to hurt him (or anyone).

But this new guy seems like a bit of a nut. Nice, in that he was smart and fun to talk to and likes to sail and fly planes and stuff (and some odd coincidences; we both started out as little kids playing recorder, then moved on to oboe, then switched to trumpet but really wanted to play trombone), but nuts in that he seemed a little obsessed with crazy conspiracy theories about 9/11 and ... well, pretty much everything else.

Robin...holy shhhhhmokes, girl!! :goofy:

You've gone from JDG1, who appears to be oblivious to what's going on around us, to JDG2 who appears to be far too involved in what's going on around us! Careful what you wish for, huh? Maybe another JDG or an e-harmony guy will be (to quote Goldilocks) "just right!"

Oh, yeah - don't feel guilty for JDG1's perception of the situation or your relationship status. I understand that you don't want to hurt his feelings, but this one really isn't on you. Not that I'm telling you how to feel..well, I guess I did just that, didn't I? ;) ...but you know what I mean.

On another note (haha), I never personally wanted to play the trombone, but I'm getting a lot of practice with it now that I need glasses. At least that's what it must look like to anyone observing me holding things a normal length away, and then at arm's length, and back and forth, trying to find the spot where my aging eyes can focus!

Anyhoo...best of luck and have fun!

OK, OK. Sorry, it was a REALLY busy weekend. The crawfish boil was very cool, and then some folks from there (mostly the couple hosting it, who I really, really like) decided to go back to the blues bar to see that same guy again (Elvis T. Busboy). JDG asked if I wanted to go, and I did. So after the party thing, we went to his place so he could change (that's a whole separate posting; his place is WEIRD), then dropped off the leftover cookies and cake at the paper so it wouldn't be in my house, then went to my place to take care of the dogs, then went to the blues bar (where I actually drank wine - two glasses! - which shocked the heck out of him). We stayed way too late (again, my choice).

So anyway, knowing that I was going to be out late and feeling bad about seeing someone else AND figuring this was never going to go anywhere because JDG2 is just too much of a nutcase ... I canceled breakfast. Which was good, because in retrospect, I never could have gone to breakfast, spent any time talking to him and still made it home in time to meet JDG (we were supposed to meet up and head to my friend's house so he could buy her cabinets and we could have lunch with her and her boyfriend).

Aaaaaaanyway, we went over to her place, loaded the cabinets, then she suggested we all go to HIS place to unload them, so he wouldn't need to get a friend to help him later. So she and her boyfriend got to see his place, too (and now she told another friend, so I'm sending pictures. Which I'll also post here, I guess, because ... weird. I'll never be able to do it justice.). Then we all had lunch. I've learned he's actually much more fun around other people, so I really do think a lot of it is nerves; he's getting much better, though, so ...

then he asked what I needed to do that day (Costco and supermarket) and asked if it would be OK if he came along. So we ran my errands, then went back and he played with the dogs while I got some stuff done around the house. Then I went out to scoop poop, and he came to help. And we found a spot where the ground under my fence had eroded and the dogs could get out (for those who've been here a long time, you might remember that Teemu got out one night this same way, and I had a horrible time finding him). So then we ran out for more pig wire to block the hole, but the feed store where they apparently sell it was already closed. Then we drove around an area I hadn't been in before, and discovered a restaurant we both want to try (it was closed, but the owner was there and we talked to him briefly).

So THEN he suggested going up to the barbecue place that he's been saying has the best ribs ever. It's kind of far, but we went. It was very disappointing (for him, too), so the search continues.

Then we came back and sat for a bit, and then it was late so he went home. Tonight I have my first appointment with the new therapist, so we'll have plenty to talk about.

Next week we're supposed to go to Six Flags (his company is having a "day" there), and then possibly we might do a road trip to this barbecue place that we wrote about in the paper (one of only four "nationally recognized" places in the whole state, which is kind of weird since this is Texas).

He's much better than he was, though, and much more fun to be around (except dinner at the German restaurant the other night, but I think that was the subcontractor guy we were with). All in all, it was a really good weekend, although I'm exhausted now. He's able to laugh about his place (he says he's very relieved that I'm laughing at it rather than running away and changing my phone numbers) and we both refer to that Sunday a couple of weeks ago as the day he stalked me (the woman who advised him to keep coming back was at the crawfish thing; he said he almost said something to her, which was funny because so did I).

So more about his place later. I have to work. (But as a teaser, he lives at one of those self-storage places. In a place that used to be some sort of large-machine repair place. It's the strangest home I've ever seen.)

And I'm having too much trouble balancing Medifast and running, so I'm going with what seemed to work best and make me feel the best, which is Body for Life (with about 1100 calories a day for now). The food plan, if not the workouts (right now I'm doing the Couch to 5K running plan Nova was doing, plus the daily Walk Away the Pounds workouts at work). But with just a slightly more relaxed day, but not the free day.

And taking a tip from YOU on a Diet, I'm also going to stop varying my food so much (they say eat pretty much the same thing at all but one meal every day). I'm also going to restart strength training with the book's workout, and work my way back up to the gym and trainer (hopefully in a few weeks, once I'm back from California).

Got to work really late because of an accident on the freeway, so just checking in quickly. Teemu got out of the yard AGAIN last night, which gave me - and him - quite a scare, but I found him. Interesting thing was my first thought was to call JDG for help. The only reason I didn't was that he lives too far and I was hoping to find Tay before he could get there.

But meanwhile, my running is curtailed because normally I run while the dogs are out in the yard. Right now, I need to watch them while they're out there.

But JDG is talking about coming tonight to put up some more pig wire. And I'm going to look into those electronic fences so this doesn't happen anymore.

The jury's definitely still out on that one, Chynna (you must not have read back to the earlier stalker-esque incident). :)

In any case, it's been a good week so far. Ran Sunday, did the 2-mile walking tape at work Monday and Tuesday, and ran this morning and will do the 2-mile tape this afternoon again. Eating has been well-controlled, although I ended up going out to dinner last night (but had chicken and veggies at Panda Express). JDG came over after work and spent a couple of HOURS getting the pig wire up in one fence section and blocking off another (we did find yet another hole, which is where Teemu got out) temporarily. Then we went to Home Depot and Fry's for a few minutes, and by then it was 8:45 and neither of us had eaten, so we went to Panda Express. And then we went home and watched American Idol on TiVo (he kept falling asleep, but wouldn't leave because he was waiting to see Sanjaya, whom I hate, and Melinda, whom I love).

He's off this Friday (he's off every other Friday), so he said he'd come back and do the rest of the fence. Which ... he may be a potential stalker, but he's definitely growing on me.

Oh, and I had my first appointment with the new therapist. I like her so far, so I'm going back next week.

Weight's about the same, but the salt from the Chinese food may have skewed things a bit this morning, so I'll wait and see. I'm a little worried I'm not eating enough for the workouts, but so far I feel OK, so maybe I am.

Hi, Robin. Here's hoping your relationship with JDG continues to improve. One day we might be able to look back and say, "We remember when . . " Have a good day, maybe hide your scale - I hid mine  and it ain't comin' out 'til roll call. :D
