Does anyone know?

I was wondering if we can have a little corned beef for the lean and green. I thought it would taste great with steamed cabbage. You could maybe buy a little in the deli case so you would not have to buy too much.

Please let me know if you have ever tried this and if it is ok.

Thanks,

Lan

Ian, I'm not sure, but I looked up the nutrition chart on corned beef and the sodium content is high. That would be enough to keep me away because I don't need any help retaining water. It's about 3 times the sodium of regular beef or steak.

Hi, Lan ~

We are supposed to select the leanest cuts of beef, poultry and other protein portions; I suspect that corned beef would not be considered to be in the lean category. I'll check with the nutritionist for you. Corned beef also has more sodium in it than non-cured beef and some has sugar added.

Lan ~

The Nutritionist concurs with me here ...no corned beef for us during the weight loss phase...it is too high in fat content and not considered to be a lean meal selection.
