Diet Soda Question

Postby bikipatra » May 1st, 2007, 10:59 am

I allow myself one diet soda a day. Usually I buy Diet Coke Cherry Vanilla. Last night my husband brought home some Coca Cola Cherry Zero instead. Is there one that is better to have while Medifasting?

There are some that claim to have less sodium, like Pepsi Jazz. Other than that, 0 cal =0 cal, I think.

Hey, did you know that Coke has come out with a diet Coke with vitamins?!

From the diet Coke website:

Each eight-ounce serving of Diet Coke Plus provides a good source of Niacin (vitamin B3), vitamins B6 and B12, zinc and magnesium (15% Daily Value [DV] for Niacin, B6 and B12, 10% DV for zinc and magnesium). Diet Coke Plus will be available nationwide in a variety of packages, including 20-ounce PET, 12-ounce can-12 packs, and 12-ounce PET (trial package).

I tried the new vitamin-fortified diet coke and it didn't taste like vitamins to me. I'm hooked on Coke Zero (plain or cherry). And Mexican Crystal Light. Speaking of which, I promised several people I'd send them some before I disappeared for a month -- those are in the mail, guys! Sorry!

Last weekend a friend of mine gave me a can of the "vitamin diet Coke" and I didn't taste any difference. It was fine to me.

I also tried the Diet Pepsi Jazz with caramel creme - OMG, now that was different but I liked it - it's great for a treat but not for an everyday thing.

Have I mentioned I love caramel? Dang wish Medifast would come up with Medifast caramels to munch on hehehehehe

I am the self-proclaimed expert on diet soda, being that I have been drinking a preposterous amount for what seems to be my entire life...

I have a strange thing - I prefer Diet Coke in a can, but Diet Pepsi in the 20oz bottles. The Diet Coke in the 20oz bottles never quite tasted right, and their packaging never got cold enough. Anyway, I saw the Diet Coke PLUS (vitamins), and like Jo, thought it was odd. It's not like I drink my soda to be healthy. In fact, now that I've quit smoking, don't eat junk food, almost never drink alcohol (since MF), and run daily, I'm a virtual health freak - EXCEPT for my diet soda. So, whatever, I thought I'd give it a whirl...you know what? It's good! It's better (I think) than the Diet Coke regular in the 20oz bottle, doesn't have a vitamin-y taste, but I do think it tastes different, maybe sweeter? Not sure, it's different, but it's a subtle difference.

Do I feel healthier for drinking it? Of course not. But is it something for a change of pace? Yep. So now I have yet another diet soda to add to my collection of soda addictions!

Oh, and the Diet Pepsi Jazz Strawberrries and Cream is so freakin' good, it feels like you're cheating!

Ciao!

Never even heard of it! I am going on one of my McGruff searches for it. We don't really have large grocery stores on Cap Hill yet so the selections are poor. Even Peapod isn't that great when it comes to soda selections. But I will find it!

The Diet Pepsi Jazz also has a Black Cherry Vanilla and a Carmel & Cream. I agree it feels like your cheating. The first time I tried one I double checked the label to make sure it was sugar free.!!
