Did you watch the Biggest Loser?

Postby SharonR » September 12th, 2007, 9:15 am

I thought it was the best season opener ever. It was so good and yes I cried my way through it! lol So inspiring. I am glad ( well that's kinda harsh) they booted....I won't say her name in case you haven't watched, but anyone who keeps saying they want to go home....well your wish may come true.

Anyway, I thought it was great. I can't wait for next week when the black team reunites with the rest of the teams. Good stuff!

I enjoyed it too. I'm following the lead of BlondeAngel and weighing myself on Tuesdays during the run of the show, to see how I'm stacking up. I'm not in a boot camp situation so I know I won't see their numbers - but I will be eating right and exercising! And hopefully I'll have some great pics of my own by the finale.

I enjoyed it too. I was glad at the end of the show to see the progress what's her name had made after leaving the show.

By the way I love Bob Harper. I would love to have a trainer like him. Gillian on the other hand--her drill sergeant tactics are not the least bit motivating to me.

I think it's going to be a great season. I'll enjoy it more in a couple of weeks when it stops interferring with my Big Brother 8 season!

I guess everyone is motivated differently. I personally would love to have Jillian as a trainer. And I agree there is no way to have the dramatic weight loss they have it is not realistic to be at the gym everyday for hours at a time. The only thing I was upset about was the number of pizza and McDonald commercials :x . I mean it is an NBC show its not like they can't be a little bit more selective of there commercials during this time.

As for Big Brother 8, that is why I have Tivo

Me too Clint! I just have to stay up too late to watch my TiVo'd programs because I can't go to bed without knowing what happened! Between that and getting up early to watch my TiVo'd BB After Dark from Showtime it's taking over my life! <img src="http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/166v.gif" alt="SmileyCentral.com" border="0"><img border="0" src="http://plugin.smileycentral.com/http%253A%252F%252Fimgfarm%252Ecom%252Fimages%252Fnocache%252Ftr%252Ffw%252Fsmiley%252Fsocial%252Egif%253Fi%253D166v/image.gif">

Sorry it has taken me so long to chime in I was actually going to start a similar thread however my boss "The VP" who I assist has been in and out his wife is preparing to POP out another little one and she has been miserable for the past 2 months and he has been helping out so much that I have been covering his slack here at work!

Thanks Nickie for following my lead, I think it will be awesome and I too have grasped that I won't see their numbers but I know I'm being compliant as they are at the Camp site WORKING OUT and Pushing harder to lose those lbs. Sharon I can't agree with you more about the person they voted off she really had a thorn in my side from the minute I saw her lazy pontoon behind trampsing across that desert! This coming tuesday is also going to be a 2 hour episode WOO HOO I hope to have lost at least 8-10lbs gone for my first week, we shall see :-) It's such an inspiring show and to see Papaw loosing 31lbs in the first week is totally out of this world. I have to say that in March/April of this year when I really buckled down and lost 32lbs (before my shameful cave in) I felt so great and I don't know what clicked in my brain but I was just going for the gold and not slipping for anything, The show on Tuesday really put my brain to work and during a commercial break I went out to the living room where my hubby was watching another show and I told him "Honey you have to see some of these girls they have over 100lbs to lose and I know if they are going through all that and all I have to do is shake and drink or mix, heat & eat I can do it and this weight will melt off faster than I could imagine" he looked at me and said can you really do it is it really as easy as you think and I responded yes and he said well then you do it, I know you will feel better inside and out, all the foods that tempt you will be there when your done just in moderation and who knows you might not crave those foods! I'm jsut so inspired this time around and I know it's because of the show, the fact that I know if I give 210% medifast will show me the same if not more, I refuse to buy fall/winter clothes and most of all I want this more than anything. I feel this is my ticket to fill the void I'm experienceing in my life right now...

So enough of me rambling on about my motivation I'm just so excited!

Just wanted to say - losing weight won't fill the void in and of itself, but it can give you the confidence and energy you need to fill the void on your own with other people and hobbies. Think about it - we spent a lot of time trying to get food to fill the void and that didn't work - taking food away won't work, either. The void is usually emotional or spiritual, in my experience.

I only say that because if you lose weight and still feel empty, it doesn't mean you've failed - just that you were looking for your weight loss to accomplish something that it can't.

All that said - let's get moving and shaking!!

Well the void I'm trying to fill is finally being happy with the way I feel when I get up everyday and the way I look and not having to avoid certain garmets becuase they are tighter than others it's just a real pain and I used to not have to think about finding something to wear I could just pick something out of the closet and knew that it would fit now my room looks like the back of a torn up department store because there are clothes everywhere, some fit most dont! BLAH!

Took me till today to finish watching, because I watched it on the treadmill yesterday morning and today. I do love the show, even though it's not realistic. But seeing the person who went home lose so much weight on her own was definitely inspriing.

I was sad to watch the one last week, though, and see how much most of the people gained. Not all of 'em, of course, and they didn't gain it ALL back - at least not so far. But quite a few had gained 30 pounds or more back, which was sad to see. Then again, it's to be expected when you lose weight by working out for hours and hours a day. Who can do that in real life?

I'm with the Bob lovers, too. Jillian seems too harsh, although I do really want to get her workout video at some point to try it out.

Hey, don't YOU do that in real life between your morning treadmill, tape at work, and then going to the gym at night? I ask because I've always been amazed at what you do, and you're a real person!

That is why I DVR it. I then start to watch it 30 min. into it and fast forward through the commercials. It cuts it down to less than a hour and half show. I don't know how I would live without DVR now. hehe

I am still having issues with the 31 pounds lose, I just don't even see how it is POSSIBLE.

Yeah, it did seem odd that he lost so much, and that the smallest woman there had the biggest loss. I think the scale malfunctioned or something. I guess we'll see, if they have gains next time, maybe that's what happened. I can see that much of a loss for the bigger people, but for the oldest and the thinnest to have the biggest losses - something is up.

Or maybe I'm just jealous? No, wait - that's envious? I'm being serious here, I can't remember which was people and which was things! So much for learning something new - although I remember the nauseous-nauseated thing.
