Hi everyone...
Nope, my doctor is a regular doctor and i think he suggested skipping a few meals with veggies.. not all... but i haven't skipped any... i'm with you.. skipping veggies? I have already taken Nancy's advise, and split my 8 oz into 2/ 4 oz meals and i didn't miss the "huge" meal at the end of the day like i thought i would.... sometimes its hard to prepare a "lunch" meal with my schedule.. but when i can.. i will....
Hope everyone has a great day... I'm off to have a shake!!

Hey MLA9500!

First let me welcome you to the program! Medifast is a great place to be. It is easy to manage and teaches and prepares you for your lifestyle change.

When I first started this program it was at my physician's advice. He had me doing just the 5 meal replacements. Nothing else. Although I lost the first week, I slowed right down after that. After reading everything, I went back to talk to him again and told him that I think I am going to do the 5 and 1. That is what keeps me from cheating. This program is a huge life sacrafice in someways. I want to make the most of it in the least amount of time as possible. I have done pretty well since taking on the 5 and 1. Although sometimes I lose slower and lower than I want, I lose. I see the scale move, I see the clothes fit, I see the recognition on peoples faces. Including my doctor who I continue to see.

I couldn't do it without the full plan though. I have to have a hunger free day with lots of nutrients to keep me energized and healthy. If you start exercising and still stay on the lower calorie intake, I wonder if it will not slow it down more because it does not have enough energy to burn? Anyway...doctors' orders are doctors' orders. But at least you have some discussion topics right?

Good luck! If you stick with it, you will not be disappointed!

Hi Pegann!!

I've been on vacation (ugh) and crazy with work so i haven't been on the forum, but i just want to thank you so much for your response!!!

i did ok.. on vacation... we went to wildwood, NJ and we went with another family.. first dinner out was a home made pasta place!! yeah, ok!! :? i had seafood mixed in and only had a couple of mouthfulls of pasta... throughout the week i had few fries, bite of pancake, chicken finger... but when i came home i noticed a 3 lb drop.. (but that was technically for 2 weeks.. b/c scale didn't move the week before) i think i got away with it, because we were doing alot of walking... but now, i'm finding myself picking!!! oh no!! i'm terrified that i'm going to ruin it now.. i had pineapple last night!!! and a plum and pretzels the day before!! i have to stop...!!! :x

i just have to stick to the shakes and the lean and green and go back to strict.. i did it for 8 weeks with no cheating... so i can do it again!! i really think this forum is what helps you stay on track...

hope to hear from you again...
thanks so much!!

Dear Lisa ~

Welcome home! Sounds like your vacation was a blast!

Now it is time to commit fully to your program and your health quest.

Pickin' here and there is fine for people with flower gardens but not so fine for people who want to reach their healthiest best.

Avoid eating things that are not on the weight loss phase can certainly be a challenge for people with a family; it can be hard to avoid having such things around as pretzels and pineapple but for people who have losin' on their mind, those are things we cannot have in our mouths for a while. We can look but not touch! Hah! I used to sniff temporarily 'forbidden foods' and sometimes that was all I needed to be satisfied - still do that sometimes! Lookin' and sniffin' does no harm to our waistline, our blood pressure or our arteries but tastin' can be the kiss of death - it is hard to stop once ya get a little licky.

Best wishes to you as you get back on the Mediwagon and head towards your goal.

I know my doc had me on a different plan when I first started..he was very old school. After reading and chatting I realized that if I was going to stick to his plan I may not be successful. So even though he is old school I talked to him about it and told him what I was going to do to modify it. I started getting my food through here as it has more of a variety. His office staff is so intrigued when I come in now and want to know about the different foods and now they are educating people on the changes and variety. And me...I am successful..albeit not as quick as I would like somedays/weeks, but slow and steady wins the race! And it is doable..I don't have to figure anything out. Just follow the plan, drink your water, get your exercise and everything else "just happens"....good luck MLA9500!
