Thank you, Katie! They're beautiful! And sparkly!
Hiya, Cyd. Jazzercise is fun, but there's definitely a learning curve! They have videos of the moves online so when the instructor calls out "Sashay" you'll have some clue as to what's next. There were still routines where I didn't make it through the entire choreography correctly. Didn't diminish the workout, though, I don't think. And it's not just the old dance aerobics it used to be. There's still a lot of that, but there's also a strength component. Sometimes it's plain old-fashioned crunches and curls, sometimes its pilates stuff -- seems to depend on the instructor. On Monday, the instructor even through in a little kickboxing number. And they try to create a fun, partyish atmosphere. Certainly, there's a community spirit complete with implicit social norms. In the end, lots of fun, and I run into someone I know at every class.
Right now, it's satisfying my desire to dance with Mike's desire to avoid it all together.
I'm really looking forward to tomorrow morning's class -- I have my bag packed (my own weights, a bottle of water, an RTD for afterward and my Jazzercise ID tag) and my clothes (both exercise and work) laid out. As long as Mike's out of the shower by the time I get home, this'll work!
Last week got downright overwhelming, so I didn't make it to any of the other classes. We had a federal review, overwhich I was stressed and started having migraine attacks. (Luckily, the worst one was Friday after the review was finished.)
On Friday, Mike and I got the Wii Sport cd out. Thanks to Dayna again, we have 2 remotes and 2 nunchucks (the extender thingy so you can use two hands). Mike and I played EVERY GAME on the Sport cd at least once and he's STILL talking about how he KO'ed me in Boxing. He completely earned it, though! He was winded and sweaty when it was over. (I've decided I've got to play with a guy avatar when we box -- it just doesn't sit right that my strapping gentleman of a husband "did that" to a lady, even virtually.) For my part, though, I beat him at tennis and golf (handily) and one round of bowling. I'm a fairly decent virtual athlete! Who knew??
But, yes, as I was driving home from the final interview, I was craving . . . EXERCISE!!!
How's the personal trainer going, Chynna?? I want to talk to one about my middle to see what can be done, nonsurgically, about the current topography. I used to have the old Richard Simmons VIDEOS (2 of 'em)!! I loved them!
