I'm desperate for a teriyaki sauce!

Postby ascicles » April 24th, 2006, 12:10 pm

All of my local stores have stopped carrying the Carb Options brand of teriyaki sauce. I used this stuff almost every night and I am going through withdrawels!

I cannot find any suitable sauces to take it's place.

The only kind of similar sauce in taste is a Sesame Ginger brand, but it is pretty high in carbs and sugar. It has 30 calories, 7g of carbs, and 6g of sugar per tablespoon.

Is this something that would throw me out of ketosis? It doesn't seem much higher than ketchup or bbq sauce.

I wish Walden Farms (or someone else) would make a good teriyaki sauce that I can find in my area. The carb options website, for whatever reason, only sales about 3-4 products. SUpposedly the product is still being made.

Well, here's one:

Atkins Quick Quisine Teriyaki Sauce
By Becky Billingsley
Special for eDiets
Updated: April 24, 2006

My older son loves teriyaki chicken, and now we can enjoy the dish with zero sugar.
Atkins Quick Quisine Teriyaki Sauce and Marinade costs $5.99 for a 10-ounce (295mL) bottle. It contains 20 servings (1 serving equals 1 tablespoon or 15mL); the price per serving is 30 cents.

A serving has 10 calories, 1g fat (zero saturated), zero cholesterol, 300mg sodium, 1g carbohydrate (zero sugar) and zero protein.

This tangy and flavor-rich sauce is perfect for basting on roast chicken, or for use with stir-fry dishes. I also like it as a dipping sauce for many different entrees, from steak to shrimp.

Hmmmm, I haven't seen that around here. In fact, when it comes to low carb sauces, I can't find ANYTHING other than Walden Farms. I'll try to track it down.

I have some Carb Options, but the one I like even more is Maple Grove Farms. They're available online, at maplegrove dot com. Look for the sugar-free, low-carb marinades and dressings. It's not as thick or sweet as Carb Options.

Hmmm, we have Maple Grove Farms products around here, but I've never seen a Teriyaki verison. I'll check them out.

Although I do like the sweet taste of Carb Options...but I guess I could just add some splenda.

Edit: Darn, I went to their site and they only sale by the case. I don't know about buying a full case of something that I've never tried.

Yeah, I called them and they listed off a bunch of stores. The problem is, none of those stores actually have the product. I have been to at least 7-8 of them.

Well, after going to four seperate stores, none of them carry the Teriyaki (or Sweet and Sour, which sounded good) versions of Fat Free Maple Grove Farms.

I think this town has banned all low-carb condiments.

Edit: Well, I ordered some directly by calling. If it's good, I guess I'll start ordering by the case.

I just hope that the lady I was talking to ordered the low card/fat free kind, because she seemed to have a hard time getting my information correct.

They let you get less than a case, just to sample? That's good. I was going to offer to send you a bottle.

If you call direct, they will sell things by the bottle. The price is pretty good though, so if I enjoy it I'll probably buy a full case.

I also ordered a bottle of the Sweet and Sour sauce.

Hey Manly - your NC neighbor adding her two cents ... A friend of mine got me the Maple Grove Farms version at a Kroger in Garner about 2 months ago. Should I tell her to keep an eye out the next time she's there?

Maybe I can just talk to my Kroger. That is my regular store.

Edit: I just went to their website and it shows that the Teriyaki is backordered. Maybe that means that my local store has it, but it's just backordered here as well.

Hi All,

I just gave Maple Grove Farms a call after seeing the low carb, sugar free Teriyaki marinade was discontinued on the web site and was told that they will be phasing out all their marinades because they are such slow sellers. I told the woman I spoke with how surprised I was to hear that, especially since so many people are on low carb plans. She said once everything is sold, they will not be making any more, so stock up!

Sorry for the bad news!
