DEPRESSED... scale is stuck!!!!.... will it ever move???

Postby Raetish3 » January 20th, 2006, 5:46 am

I want to cry ...I am crying  I have to change my ticker 'cause now the scale is stuck on a 10lb weight loss and it's not moving ...I officially started this diet thursday Jan 5th and the scale is now stuck only a 10lb weight loss!!! I had my heart set on losing 20lbs this month and the scale is not moving...... Every time I diet I fail... everytime! and I spent so much money on the shakes, I cannot afford to keep investing in diets, my husband is just fed up with all my weight gain..He never gains weight....

I was alot thinner 10 yrs ago when we met and I was 65 lbs thinner......
I'm 120 or so lbs over weight, been on every diet on the planet and I just feel like a failure.... I look horrible, when I walk I'm out of breath, I am in 3x clothes and I used to be beautiful...everyone used to compliment me and now I get the fat stares..... I don't know what to do.....

(Officially started jan 5th (that needs to be changed in my profile please)
rae
Officially started Jan 9th !!

Raetish3,

If it's any consolation, I gained 1/2 lb. today. You have lost 10 lbs. in 16 days...I would say that is pretty darn good! You are losing weight, maybe not at the rate you would like, but nonetheless, you are loosing.

From what I have read, no two bodies or weight loss amounts are the same. Everyone loses at a different rate. Perhaps your body is still adjusting to your new style of eating. I do know one thing, stress affects weight loss. I think if you stress yourself out over not meeting a goal you set for yourself, it will affect you in negative ways.

You haven't failed! You have taken steps to reduce your weight by going on the Medifast program....that is such a positive thing to do....I would definately put that on your success/achievement list. What has happened in the past, doesn't count anymore....stop going there. You can't change it and don't define yourself by it. The past is a learning lesson on what does or doesn't work for you in your life. Learn from it and move on.

You can do this! "CHANGE THE WAY YOU LOOK AT THINGS AND THE THINGS YOU LOOK AT WILL CHANGE".

Raetish- Don't give up! Stop weighing yourself, and you won't get upset. Wait a week, then weigh yourself. You can't just go on the scale... but how you feel, how clothes are fitting.. I know that you can do this! Look, I started the 8th... only a couple days after you, so we're in this together!!!!

Please don't give up. And as far as your husband... forget about how he feels about this whole thing, he'll be happy when you feel better about yourself, and when you feel healthier. My husband wasn't too happy when I ordered this either, because I have spent so much money on weight loss.. but, he's slowly changing his mind, because he sees how much more energetic I am, and how much better I feel about myself already.

Don't concentrate on the scale. Be proud of yourself for everyday you successfully complete! That's the real importance... because if you stick with it it will work!

HUGS!
Keep up the good work! :)

Raetish!

I'm going to tell you what the pros around here told me when I was stalling:

TRUST THE PROGRAM

TRUST MEDIFAST!!!

If you stick with Medifast, you WILL lose weight, no question about it !

Since we all lose pretty QUICK on Medifast, you have to give your body a chance to adjust to the weight loss - sometimes the body needs a week to get used to the new "distribution" of weight.

TRUST the program - it does not fail.

What Lisa said. ;)

Go over to the Elevator forum and read my post on Plateaus.

When I started this program a year ago, my first week I lost 14.5 pounds (I had 110 to lose). The second week I lost 4 pounds. The third week I lost 0.5 pounds (all these were Sunday to Sunday weights). The fourth week I lost . . . 0.5 pounds. Can you imagine how frustrated I was? I held on by looking at people who had had success on this program, people like Nancy, and Mike, and Carrie, and Sylvia, and the woman in Hawaii I can't remember her name -- camille, I think. I went through all the Studio pictures before and after. And, most important of all, I STUCK WITH THE PROGRAM! NO CHEATS.

Week 5 was a 3.5 pound loss, and week 6 was 4 pounds. I started this program on Jan. 3 last year at 270, and on Feb. 3 I was between 246 and 247.5. On March 3 I was about 232. On April 3 I was 224.5.

I had taken two "breaks" before then, one to go to Hawaii and one to go to New York, and went back to MFing when I got home. The only reason I'm not "done" is that I stopped Medifasting in early September, having lost 90 pounds. I'm about five pounds heavier right now than when I stopped, due to the holiday. I'm back on MF now, and determined to get those last 25 or so pounds off before summer.

The program works. Sometimes our body adjusts to losing weight by changing the number on the scale, and sometimes it adjusts by changing the inches on the measuring tape. If you haven't already taken your measurements so that you have a starting point of reference, do so. Those weeks that the scale doesn't show much movement, check your measurements, you'll find that they have probably changed.

Hon, I started this thing at 47 years old, having been fat all my life, and having had so many diets either not work or stop working or just not be able to stay on them. This program works. It's like the bank: You deposit your Medifast into your body, and you take out fat. Hang in there. It works. I promise.

Oh. And don't weigh yourself every day. That'll drive you crazy until you do learn to trust the program. Once a week, no more.

Scale STuck

Postby Jan » January 20th, 2006, 9:25 am

Oh My Goodness!!
That nasty old scale is stuck :x But please don't worry and don't give up. You have already parted with 10 pounds so you know the program works. It DOES. Your body is just readjusting ( I like to say it's trying to decide where to part with the pounds next :D ) You will begin parting with the pounds again!! Everyone has times when they lose more, lose less, stall or maybe even bounce up a pound or so. That's just the journey of weight loss. ;) Many many things affect us: hormones, stress, lack of sleep, outside temperature etc. Please keep on, stay compliant, drink your water, stay off the scale for a week or so--you'll have a nice surprise and be happy once again. The new tears will be tears of joy :D

If there has been one constant in all my dieting attempts, it's that the 10-or-so-day period immediately preceding and then encompassing my period brings my weightloss to a screeching halt, and often will add a pound or two back. And, of course, this happens at the time when I'm positive-thinking-challenged (PMS does that to me  ). The first few times this happened, I was devastated. "I'm depriving myself of [insert all favorite foods here] and I STILL CAN'T LOSE WEIGHT??!!!" Finally, I noticed the pattern. Now I know it's a temporary state of affairs, and it's just part of my female body doing its normal thing, and usually the scale takes a nice dip after the fact, when my body lets go of whatever fluid it was trying to hang on to.

This may or may not be what you're facing now, but don't give up! We're all behind you!
