Hi

Hi Everyone!

I've been traveling A LOT! Haven't been home since June 26th or something, making me crazy!

I've been working on a "me" project and it has made sme snarky, bitchy and terrible to be around. I've been quitting smoking. I've been a mess as you can see from my ticker change.

I think I've finally gotten it beat and made peace with letting another comforting friend go in the name of health. I feel a sick sadness that it's yet another thing I can't have that others can (chalk it up with Krispy Kreme's, mac & cheese and fries)...but it is one thing where I don't have moderation to look forward to, so I'm dealing with it.

I was working on the "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all" principle, but I think I'm getting closer to happy again and am back on program without the ciggies and building back up on the stairmaster. Wish me luck!

I'll do my best to catch up with everyone. Hope you all are doing well!

Glad to see you back, DeDe, even if you ARE cranky. And remember, it's not that you CAN'T have mac and cheese or doughnuts or whatever else. But you're choosing not to. Makes a huge difference for me ... OK, not always, but at least some of the time. It's one reason I still keep a jar of chocolate on my desk at work. I like to remind myself that it's there and I can have it any time I want. But some things (my health, my weight, my self-esteem) are more important to me.

Besides, you have things that other people can't have. Like those darn long legs of yours. I can drink shakes till the cows come home, but my legs will never look like yours.

Dede, glad you are back, you've been missed.

Good for you on giving up the ciggies.....I've never really smoked (tried it off and on but never inhaled :D )....so don't know first hand what you are going through, but do know that you're making a huge change that will affect your health a lot.

Good for you on giving up cigs. I have never smoked but my husband does and he has stopped, started and cut back several times. It is not an easy habit to break.

One more for better health and a better life! :D

WTG, Dede!! Being an ex-smoker myself I have some idea of what you are going through. I'm so happy that you are taking another step toward optimal health!! I am so glad you can do that as I type with cigarette in my left hand. I think I will try fairly soon, like maybe when scientific technology catches up with my bra size and I can go jogging. My husband quit drinking and smoking, cold turkey over 4 years ago. So it can be done! I have never smoked so much as I do know. Partly nervous energy, partly oral fixation/food replacement. I used to only smoke a lot when I drank then I could go days without one. It's an expensive smelly habit. I should write that down hundred times. Not here  . In my paper journal. But I wish you the greatest of luck!

It's good to be back here with you. You are so close to goal, you can do this!!

Hi

Postby dede4wd » September 16th, 2007, 11:37 am

I'm not posting much...sorry. I've been really really sick and highly medicated, so I've been staying on as much as I can, but need some stuff so the medicine doesn't make me hurl!

Anyway, I hope everyone is doing well, I will weigh in next week so I have some time to finish my meds.

I will try to lurk less and post more on the boards, but it's really hard to be here.

Dede, sorry to read that you've been really ill, I figured you were traveling for your job and just not getting computer time. I hope you're feeling better and will be feeling 100% soon. Thinking of you!
